I'd say making it a rare drop for the Wall of Flesh would be a much better mid-game spot to slap it into. At that point you aren't likely to have great wings, if any, after all. Having a substitute infini-grav 'potion' would settle your needs until you get them, as well as making mining upwards far easier. Martian invasion dropping it might be a better fit thematically, but by the time you're good enough to take that event on in full, you've probably already got decent wings, or possibly even a mount with flight/hover that would beat it out. At the latest, it should be a drop from one of the mechanical bosses. Skeletron 2.0 would be the best fit, imo, considering rapid use of the globe would probably imitate what I imagine Skeletron sees when his head starts spinning.🤣 Edit; you've given me an amazing idea. I just recently started a new game with a new character who is ready for the wall of flesh, but I also have a former character with loads of endgame gear he just never uses. A new character though? They'd be more than able to make use of them at certain stages of the game! With that in mind, I'm going to create a "progression chest" system, where I'll take items like that Globe & maybe the drill cart [for hellivator creation only], and put them into chests that I will only allow myself access to after hitting the right milestones. The globe and drill cart will be perfect entry-level prizes to start entry into Hard Mode with, after all; gotta wall off those biome spreads until I can Clentaminate them under control.
@@titanlotus9966 or just use the ufo car key/fishron mount at that point? the gravity globe is useless because you unlock it at a point in the game where you have access to all unlimited flight mounts, the soaring insignia, the celestial starboard, which make the globe obsolete
Regarding the Step Stool , you say "That's about it" but you forgot how crucial the extra mobility and reach is in the early game. Considering it is obtained from surface chests, it will usually be found before Cloud in a bottle or grappling hook. The extra jump height is extremely helpful for not only exploring without having to place ropes & platforms constantly, but also jumping over mobs that would otherwise kill you at the start of the game, such as Zombies. Additionally, the extra reach helps with tasks such as building your first few NPC houses and also other situations such as mining ores. The mobility it provides is far from negligible, and even after equipping cloud/hook it is convinient for building NPC houses considering NPC housing is an important part of pre-hardmode now.
@@Zuzucorn Step Stool is nothing but a significant upgrade in the "very early game" considering you have a bunch of free slots when you start, and is also useful as a building tool past that stage. There's no way it's one of the worst accessories in the game, let alone worse than the like of the vine book.
I find the most useless accessory to be the pocket mirror. It drops rarely from Medusa. It also does nothing but protect you from Medusa's exclusive debuff.
what I think is the saddest part is that you can wear flame walker boots in vanity and lava waders in your real slots and get the same effect as the hellfire treads
hey, atleast flower boots can be used to amass large amounts of jungle grass seeds, which can be annoying in both ways, if you want it, you dont find it, if you don't want it, you get tons of it
I have some words on eachbof these: 5. As a builder, I find that the Vine Rope is very nice to have as an option for organics, and sometimes you just don't find normal rope before you get CiaB or a Hook. 4. By the time you get Globe, you should have Soaring and access to a slime mount which is the same mobility but easier to use, and grav pots are pretty cheap once you get into hardmode anyway. It's good for selling though. 3. Actually, they are not Flame "Walker", they are Flame "Waker". That one letter is the difference between meaning "taking steps" and "leaving behind oneself" so those boots that are accessory with the "Vanity Item" tag just like capes and Yoriz0r's Scowl, do exactly what they say. Leave flames on your wake. 2. Step stool is very nice for early building because god I hate early tools and not having the extendo grip. The jump height is nice until you get a balloon or a CiaB. Or just build lol. 1. I don't know how useful this is but I *think* Flower Boots lets you farm seeds and/or hay very easily, but why do you need seeds, and while hay is a nice building block (and dummies), it's easy to get and you likely won't need more than 999.
About vine ropes: they're really good for some builds and in early game, you can easily make a vine farm for cheap ropes, which you can use on your hellevator
A word on flame waker boots: I personally should say that flame wakers aren’t useless (in my opinion) because they do what they’re meant to, it’s a vanity item, it goes in the vanity slot. It’s like saying all vanity accessories are useless, which the diamond ring sold by the traveling merchant would be way worse in my opinion, since it adds like, 4pixels onto your character. Although crafting the hellfire treads is a bad idea, definitely agree there, but I would’ve put those on the list instead. (Sorry if I sound rude, I’m just putting it out there) still, great video👍
_Qwerty _ I can see your idea but it’s more like “all spruce trees are wood, but not all wood comes from spruce trees” if you get what I’m saying. Thanks for the feedback though :)
I agree. I honestly feel like relogic adding the hellfire treads into the game was a horrible idea. I am fine with small little trolls, but this is just over the top. The lava waders are a very difficult accessory to get, so making people potentially miss out on using that item for terraspark is just not good.
The only annoying thing about them is that if you are trying to get something from Lava Fishing, such as the Lava Charm (1/40 chance from obsidian crates), then you could get IT instead.
@@emanuelscalvin that's their problem adding a new item to an already big crafting tree and it doesn't make the flame walker boots bad it makes the hellfire treads bad
The step stool can actually be handy for avoiding combat right at the beginning of the game, before you get any mobility accessories like cloud in a bottle or rocket coots you're pretty much at the mercy of the zombies, it's easy for them to slap you out of the air when you're trying to get past them, but the step stool gives you that extra little boost to your jump, so you can avoid zombies much easier. Overall it's still not viable for very long, but I'd say it's the most useful useless accessory on this list
@@kanicothecrab in 1.4 the flower boots can no longer spawn critters from breaking grass (i think) (maybe) (idk) Edit: Im pretty sure they only spawn the jungle bugs now. At least from what I read in the comments
I'm kinda surprised that the pocket mirror was just completely ignored. It's a rare drop from a rare enemy that only spawns in one mini-biome and it's effect is that it blocks a single debuff that can only be inflicted by that enemy. Not only that but it's a hardmode item! By hardmode you have tons of way better accessories and can't really afford to waste accessory slots, especially on an item that provides immunity to 1 debuff that you will almost never receive! Also then there's jellyfish necklace which up until journey's end was totally useless and now it just mostly useless and basically a glorified light pet.
Dude, please never stop doing these videos, I discovered your channel recently, and I was on a really bad day, and your vids were the only thing that cheered me up, you're awesome.
"I would imagine that being called Flame Walker boots, it would at least allow us to walk on lava" I would too, but they aren't called Flame WALKER books. They're called Flame WAKER boots, and they awaken flames where you walk as a vanity thing.
Well you are lucky most people will agree with zoo zoo corn so please don't try to depress people and call them lier's this is not a hate comment it's just a tip don't be a jerk
Flowerboots nerf was pretty bad, tho they did still justify it by having more critters and ways to obtain critters... they could've done making the critters spawned by the boots much rarer or only spawn lower bait power critters, but yeah... i was kinda sad, remembered my first 1.4 playthrough and actually got it as my first ivy chest. I agree with the list haha
Fairy boots Actually do have a use, it's for making mob farms, if you don't have access to a picksaw or higher, you're most likely gonna use flower boots to get jungle seeds for increasing your spawn rates.
The term “useless”, is more of a relative term. I use all 5 of these items for building, and without them, it would’ve been so much more difficult. I make some pretty awesome builds with these.
my thoughts: number 5: ye. its pretty much useless to the game progression, Altough the vine rope is pretty hard to get. so it can be used to obtain it. and the vine rope is often used for natural decorations. number 4: i agree, would be better if it was a mechanical boss expert drop, but the time would be limited to 15 minutes or 20. number 3 yes, its really hard to get them. its just a vanity thing. if you like flame trail and think its really cool, then get it. if you don't like it and don't think is worth it, then don't get it. and the hellfire tread is just a conbination of lava waders and the flame walker boots. i don't think it's good to combine yhose two. i would rather make the terraspark boots. number 2: i ithink its really useful for the early game. it may be useless in the game progression but it is really useful for reaching high places to build or mine until you get a double jump bottle or a rocket boot. number 1: i really have nothing to say.
Hey, if you have tons of spare lava charms, however, the lava immunity effects of each accessory whose crafting tree involves the lava charm (as well as the lava charm itself) stack. This is not only a 1.3 thing, but also a 1.4 thing. If you don't believe me, try it out for yourself. The items that use the lava charm (that I know of) are the following: obsidian charm (or is it skull charm?), lava waders, hellfire treads, terraspark boots, and, excluding the lava charm itself, I think that's it, though, again, I don't know all of them.
@@CrazySpidey-lj1yd Why waste so many accessory slots on lava charms and derivatives? If you're going to constantly spend more than 7 seconds in lava, go fish for the superheated blood, it's not exactly rare and you'll most likely have to fish for the lava charm anyway.
@Brick Magma Good luck farming materials for obsidian skin all the time, because I don't have that kind of patience (even fishing for Double Cod for ammo potions annoys me). At least lava charms and shark mounts are a one-and-done deal.
I mean, maybe I'm weird, but I tend to spend a lot of time in the early game, before wings or even rocket boots, and always find myself running out of rope. So the vine ropes tend to be a real lifesaver if I get the accessory. And in support of flower boots, hay is also useful as an infinitely renewable source of incorruptible blocks for building containment barriers, so you can save other resources for better uses, such as stone for asphalt, or just for making nice builds, and glowing mushrooms for shroomite. Ash is also viable, but takes much longer to get a lot of, even with stacking mining speed buffs.
Zuzu, you may not have considered how useful flower boots are in getting jungle seeds, which are usually pretty annoying to gather when you try to make an artificial jungle or mushroom biome!
I have a soft spot for the guide to plant fiber cordage. It was my first accessory in my first world on my first time playing terraria on PC, and compared to the other ones on this list, for the point in the game where you get it, it’s actually pretty good.
I had a similar experience! It was also my first accessory, first time playing. I was also really excited to get the flower boots having obtained a Blowgun not long before. Essentially unlimited ranged ammo and rope made exploring large caverns a breeze in the early game!!
I think the Flamewalker boots should count as the lava waders, and could be used to craft the terraspark boots if you cannot find the lava charm of water walking boots. It would make them so much better!
Flower Boots are great for bait collection during the rain early on. Flamewalkers can be put in the vanity slot of your Terraspark Boots and thus you get the effects of both.
Super cool video bro. Thank you, I'm a big fan of Terraria, been playing since 2011. Happy to see content being made to this day. You rock bro. Have a great day anyone who sees this
I personally wouldn't count the fire boots. It's like including vanity clothes in a worst armour list. If you were to list the boots, you may aswell also put the cloaks in, which are all vanity accessories rather than vanity armour. And also the rainbow cursor.
The stepping stool helped me as I could jump higher and helped me get over many cliffs but only useful in early game before I got other accessories. So it’s useful to jump over cliffs if you don’t have rope.I do agree with all of your choices
I actually found the step stool useful early game, mine was armoured, and the extra 3 defenders was pretty nice, it also gives a bit more range, and while I was exploring hell, it let me jump up to the next floor inside the buildings, as sometimes you can’t jump high enough.
The reason I think that the gravity globe isn't a bad Adam it's because you can give to your friends in game new people who are just been introduced to Terraria to get Terraria world for their selves
Y'know how useful vine rope ACTUALLY is for early game? It's really good for exploring caves, as lots of sections could be deep enough to kill you(fall damage) but you can just place a bunch of vine rope to get down safely. Plus, any random vine rope you've placed while exploring will allow you to get back up easier, without having to waste a ton of dirt and then end up making ugly dirt towers.
Don’t know if this was changed in an update, but the one that lets you get vine ropes also works if it’s in your inventory. Gravity Globe is definitely not very good, but I think that’s really just because gravitational potions exist, don’t require accessory slots, and work just as well, if you need a certain amount of air time you can just make more, you theoretically could use the globe as a way to fly infinitely without a mount, or soaring insignia + wings, allowing you to equip more one more accessory instead of the soaring insignia combo. Or you could use it as a way to make grounded mounts “fly” whatever that’s worth, though all of that is possible with gravitational potions as well. I don’t know if this is an ordered list, but if it is, Firewalking boots should be very last, they actually have no uses. Stepping stool is at least a noticeably positive effect. And flower boots can be used to make hay, which if you need blocks but don’t want to destroy dirt or something, is useful. Firewalking boots do nothing. Although another thing about flower boots is that they can be made with spectre boots into fairy boots, which is just spectre boots except they can’t be made into thunderspark boots.
just as a note- hay, like most blocks, cannot be corrupted, which makes it a good block to use for a corruption/crimson/hallow break. easy to farm, no need to use potions, not gravity effected or based on trees, and it doesn't destroy your terrain to get it. pretty cool!
Rope is very useful, and having the guide to plant fiber cordage in your inventory can let you get vine rope anytime. You can also make a dedicated vine rope farm and it would let you have nearly infinite rope. Does not fit your needs? You can just switch it out when you are done using it.
Vine ropes are a newbie's lifeline. Before I got a grappling hook and extra jumps, that book was the ONLY reason I could survive exploring deep water or mining expeditions. And you can use the vine ropes to make a climbing wall around meteorite sites to safely farm them out without getting burn damage. I'm on my first playthrough of the game right now, and I can say with confidence that if you don't cheat and look up how to get other items and where to look for them, coming across items and chests is pretty rare. like, I've been playing for like a month right now and I STILL only have 180 hp. Destroyed 2 corruption orbs (stopped at 2 cause I shat myself when the messages about a chill and screams popped up), got a gun and shadow armor, cleaned out 2 meteorites (using vine walls both times) and I've still barely got ANY hp 😒
Ropes are actually very useful, although yeah you do get a ton from pots and stuff, and the snake staff can basically replace all rope, and wings plus a hook replace that, but the guide to plant fiber cordage can be useful for a time.
Number 5: Has a few uses, such as getting a ton of rope for arenas and building Number 4: It's built solely to be a fun accessory, not a useful one. Number 3: It literally has "Vanity Item" in the item description. it's a vanity accessory, and is physically build to not have a use. Number 2: You can get a slightly higher jump, build better at early game, and Teabag on your friends/foes. what's not to like? Number 1: i mean, you can make flower beds with it, but with the critter removal it's basically useless aside from niche building purposes like, as you said, gathering hay.
To be fair... a lot of people use rope early game for various things... pre-hardmode, collecting free vine rope is a useful thing to do, since you don't have access to wings and might not get a Lucky Horseshoe in your world.
The guide to plant fiber cartilage is good for early game if you aren’t able to find rope or you run out of rope yet there are multiple vines nearby. It’s useful for early game but not past it if you have claws, rocket boots or wings, but the guide to plant fiber cartilage is great for those who start a new game and decided to go spelunking.
Well, I did find one use for the flower boots that actually did save a notable bit of hassle. Jungle seeds. I was making a mob farm for jungle creatures and I was using jungle mud. Naturally, though, I need jungle grass to grow on it. If I had planted what few seeds I had on hand, it'd have taken a long time to change into a proper biome. The flower boots fixed that by allowing me to get enough seeds easy.
Flower boots can be used for getting jungle grass which is helpful in life fruit/plantera bulb farms. The Vine rope one is also pretty nice for quick rope early game and the vines are a very nice decoration in building once you have enough mobility to not need rope anymore
Flower boots nerf hurts. They essentially serve no purpose now, large amounts of hay is only needed for building houses, and are similar to flamewaker boots in that they're a trap combo accessory with terraspark crafting ingredients in the form of fairy boots. It could be worse since I think the grass growing only works if equipped vs flamewaker flames which appear even in vanity slot.
Guide to plant fiber can be used for building in jungles as a small decoration, that's about it tho, gravity globe can add a twist to mining since chlorophyte is still important for bullets, even post moon lord so mining upside down can make it more fun. Flame walker boots have no reason to be built since you can get Terra spark boots
The Flame Waker boots work in vanity slots! But the flower boots do not. The flower boots should also work in vanity slots. Maybe even add a tinker recipe to combine the two, to let us leave fire _and_ flowers wherever we walk!
I have a habit of obtaining the Guide to Plant Fiber before I have a lot of rope and I tend to use a LOT of rope early game. Once you have mobility options it's worthless, but before the merchant shows up to sell rope it's very useful for day 1 exploration and can be enough to get you all the way out to the ocean or down to the shadow orbs in the corruption. Platforms are better for horizontal bridges, but the +3 placement range on ropes and the way they'll build infinitely downward from existing rope makes them far better for vertical mobility. I'd consider the Radar or Compass to be one of the most useless items. Unlike the other information accessories that could, theoretically, give you useful information, they give you information that is next to useless in any way. There are 10 enemies nearby? I think the cacophony of zombie sounds gave it away. The compass? If you want to find the world's center you can use a recall potion and mark it. I like putting a campfire there. As for knowing when you're 2/3rds of the way out, usually anything past the dungeon. Also, you can bring up the map and just see how far out you are.... And before you tell me you don't have to equip them, the fact you CAN but don't have to only compounds the problem. If you DO equip them they do!... Nothing... There is no difference... You get no benefit... Putting them on is the biggest waste of an accessory slot ever!! They're both junk items you combine with other things so you can make a cellphone, an item that does useful things, provides useful information, and only takes up one inventory slot. But you can't justify them because 'ingredients to more useful items.' Flower boots, technically, can be used to make Fairy Boots. Not a great item, but not worthless. So if you justify these two then you sort of justify Flower Boots. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
dude do NOT say the guide to plant fiber is useless, i used that thing for all of pre hardmode, i made a farm for it and i got tons and tons of rope for building a hellevator, for obstacles you cant jump over, its pretty damn good.
The flame walker boots are classified as vanity items, it says so in their description. What you said was still mostly valid, but i don’t think that it’s “strictly” classified as an accessory
I like the flower boots very much. They loov cool when you walk on grass, unlimited seeds for blowpipe and super easy way to get jungle/mushroom seeds. And all you need to do is to loot a random mahogany tree.
They even buffed the Gravity globe and it’s still terrible. So, I feel like you should be able to craft it together with every other expert accessory drop to make something. Maybe a “Seal of expertise”. That may sound overpowered, but it’s post-moon lord to begin with, and nobody’s gonna use Grav-globe on it’s own unless you’re an idiot meme lord.
Regarding the flower boots, you can actually pair them with a flare gun to have an infinite bug farm duplication method, so they are actually kinda useful.
The Vine Cordage is thing is useful for two things. A) Extremely early pre-hardmode, like pre-boss early. B) Builders like me that love to make functional stuff.
Flower boots combined with the flare gun or a yoyo is the most effective way to obtain jungle grass seeds, because they can't be bought from a dryad in the jungle for some reason.
Guide to Plant Fiber is actually super useful in the early game. It basically negates fall damage before you get wings or lucky horseshoe. You can throw vine rope coils to get out of caves, use them as extra blocks to get up and down from sky islands, and throw the vines down so you have something to grab onto while falling so you don't take fall damage
