Wake up, banana and a big glass of water, half an hour ride, shower then breakfast and continue with your day. Can do it every work day and have more "fun" rides with mates all weekend
Here in New Zealand when it was winter for us, I got up and rode from Wednesday to Friday every morning to school, each time I motivated myself to get to school before 8:40 am, this kept me fit throughout the weeks.
Oli's superb and brings a wealth of real experience. GMBN lacks an XC based presenter, so give the man s job. Along with Neil, Blake and Henry that'd be all the bases covered
Just go out and ride! I ride to get fit and for fun, don't do racing and couldn't care less about competition or records. All about feeling good and having fun for me :) Having to beat a record or achieve a set goal is the ultimate motivation killer for me.
Exactly. When you just love riding your bike for the fun of it you don't need goals or a plan. It just comes naturally. But I understand that not everyone's like that.
I'm about to do my first Enduro at Sea Otter. This was very helpful even though I can ride here in CA year-round, I think that structure helps it seem like a less daunting event. I do like Oli because I think he seems very organized about his approaches to performance.
During the winter I do longer fasts to improve insulin sensitivity, increases HGH naturally and reduce inflammation. Hit classes, yoga and bike 2 times a week longer rides over 2 hrs.
Andrew Rivera Started doing that exactly a year ago due to worsening health, despite loads of exercise. Fasting is easy once the breads, sugars are cut out of diet. I had one of my best rides after breaking a 60 hour fast. Fastest overall speed and lots of PRs and a few trophies on trails I have been hammering on for years. Insulin Sensitivity and HGH increases from fasting really do improve performance. I lost over 60 lbs 224-160 lbs in 5 months and had my best year ever. Ride on.
Rockhead Gary that’s great! I’m on day 5 of an 11 day snake juice fast. Just did a power yoga class and accessory weights just to activate the muscles. All inflammation is gone! just retired, did yearly physical all numbers are perfect and getting ready for the Nepal enduro in April then my daughter and I are gonna trek to Everest base camp!
Thanks great video. Already knew about the S.M.A.R.T targets before from work. However the video reminded me that to take this into sports training in my private live also would be crutial. I am one of the guys with high targets that I am normally not able to fulfill, resulting in some weeks with with demotivating results. I will change my sports targets to more realistic ones that I can consistently fulfill.
Specific: Eat a Twix Measurable: Have I eaten a Twix yet or not? Achievable: Just watch me. Relevant: I was put on this planet to eat Twix, so, heck yeah. Time Based: I have 30 seconds between this box set episode finishing and the next one starting. Just enough. Pleased to be well under way with my winter training 👍
Great video I don't feel very fit at all I'm new to mtb started properly in June last year! I find the climbs the hardest and like my heart is struggling and I have to get off I'm slightly over weight but I get out most weekends for about a 25k ride but I don't think my fitness is improving that much!! Any tips on where I may be going wrong and what I can do to improve my fitness?
Riding MTB at night is badass, especially when u have head light on helmet and bars. But when riding solo at night in the woods it gets very very scary. I live in Chicagoland so I dont know I rode with lout my guns
Winter miles, summer smiles! Love it, thanks! I’m keeping up by commuting everyday and throwing in longer rides when the weather permits.. minus -40 degrees Celsius today so that’s a NO.
I've not been mountain biking for over 20 years. I've found a place about an hours drive away with different graded rides. None of them has jumps but they do increase in technicality. My bike feels really weird (a lot has changed in 20 years). Whilst not exactly measurable I'm planning on using the green, blue and red trails to improve my fitness and skills.
Hmm these a fancy sounding. I usually ride everywhere day cause I gotta go to the store except when we get a foot or more of snow. Its always hard when I start back up
What fox pants are those along with what cycling shoes / pedals do you have on the Nukeproof bike as I currently run with Crankbrothers egg beaters & I’m looking for a replacement. Great tips also
Ditch refined carbs and processed food, eat real whole foods and be consistent with your workouts. Listen to your body. Make your hard workouts hard and your easy workouts easy. Rinse, repeat. With time your problem will be solved. And ffs, don't eat cake under any circumstances.
My motivation to ride isn't to get fit right now. It's to prevent me from losing use of my right leg. I do 5 miles every other day and as it gets warmer it will become 5 miles a day, then 10 miles a day and up until my doctor tells me i'm over doing it.
don't climb hills I only ride downhill I only ride park I'm on the lift all day And I don't have no chain I only ride park Screw your xc And your 650b I only ride park Im passing all the noobs And I'm still faster than you Verse 1-- I got all the record times I know the secret lines And I never walk my bike Always cuttin' in line I only ride in the summer when the park is open Trails closed for maintenance? Its time for poachin' I don't compete but I act like pro racer

there is only one way to lose fat (weight) not 5. exercise is not it. exercise is a great help and will get you fit but you cant out exercise a bad diet. diet is the only way to lose fat, when I say diet I don't meat a short term starvation regiment, change how you eat permanently. the best forms of eating are keto and carnivory, these diets leads to optimum human health. these methods alloy you to lose body fat without starving yourself, you will have constant energy and you will grow muscle without exercising.and no a vegan diet dose not work, it will always lead to gut damage and many issues.
1- shut up and pedal 2- nobody is going to force you to ride, you have to motivate yourself 3- real food on the ride, less bars/gels 4- see #1, repeat the hardest part is getting out the door, after that it’s all smiles
I live in Arizona, too, though I tend to ride either early in the morning or in the evening. That can be pretty chilly, especially 30-40°F in the morning.
I'm getting older. Just turned 46. It's harder to balance all my responsibilities in life (job, wife, kid, hobbies, friends, family, house up keep...) and get out on the bike. This is a great sensible plan for keeping fit in the Winter.
I live in Tx, and I just started mountain biking… I’ve been riding in 100 • F, with a “feels like “ of 107 😂 It’s hard but I take the same tack you all do. “Do something”. I can’t wait til the winter when the avg temps are in the 60’s and 70’s . 😱
You guys don't know freezing. We have the damn snow for 6 months, temperatures as low as -45 deg Celsius and the sun is below the horizon for two months. How the hell can i train in the worst winter months.
i ride for about 24 hours a week and i ride up and down my steep road, but my friends still beat me. i started riding in August last year but still, im getting nowhere
I love that I've just got back from where they are riding, absolutely knacked and searching youtube to improve my fitness - then seeing them both blasting up a climb that nearly killed me. hahah. Time to get training
Motivation is the hardest one. Can be the weather or others reasons like having to wash the bike, cost, etc... i bought a smart trainer with a subscription to Zwift to my wife ... trained 2x per week and ... and blast it ! Simply amazing. After a month, she can keep pace with me.
Who has a solution? #askGMBN i'm making a MTB obstacle. The surface is a wood sheet of multiplex, how do i make the surface grippy? Carpet? Paint with sand? Skateboardgrip? Thanks for any help.
Warm finger and warm toes, spend the money on good gloves and shoes! I carry two pairs of gloves, a starting pair to warm up and keep the wind out until my fingers warm up, and then before things get sweaty swap to a lighter pair. For your shoes, buy at least a half to one size up* (room for your toes to wiggle), through in a toe warmer, and love yourself a nice merino blend. * I have yet to find winter/shoe boot that actually fits to size (and assume you are wearing a thicker sock).
