Your honesty and directness is so refreshing. Please don’t change that approach in your videos. It is so appreciated. Even though I’m 10+ years in my whisky journey, I consider myself very much in the lower tier of intermediate level for various reasons. In the words of Ron Burgundy, stay classy!

Don’t be shocked or apologize…that Jack Daniel’s SBBP drinks like a $200 bottle. It is amazing.

It's so good. I was shocked because up until about 2 months ago The only experience I had with Jack Daniel's was the original and my impression of that was lukewarm at best. When I had this I was surprised how good it was. I hope it stays affordable. cheers!

As another neophyte to whiskey i've also found some bottles that I have to put aside for when my palate has matured and grown. Its an interesting phenomenon. It also makes me want to go back and try bottles I didn't like to see if that has changed. Nope, still hate Willet Pot Still....
@whiskeyisajourney
@whiskeyisajourney Год назад
I am shocked how much my taste/palate has changed over the past year. My first scotch I had was Monkey Shoulder and got nothing out of it, but ethanol. I went back to it the other day and I got so much more out of it it was hard to imagen it was the same scotch I tried just a few months earlier. It still was not great, but for a starter/beginner scotch it has a place. I have never had the willet pot still, but I hear the same thing from a lot of people about it. It's not good. Eventually I will get around to tasking it in the future....maybe.

Can not go wrong with JDSBBP. It's a great bourbon. Even with the Tennessee twist. It's really hard to get a good sampling of all the different types of whisk(e)y. Just to add Peat and Rye as the obvious expansion makes things tough with 7 categories. I really appreciate your effort with American Single Malts as not many folks are going there. Since you don't mind high proof, I would suggest cask strength Del Bac. They do have the capability to present as world class drams. Comparable to any young Scotch. The low proof American Single Malts seem to be hit or miss. But that's the journey. Happy New Year
@whiskeyisajourney

I'm looking forward to going on some distillery tours in 2023. Del Bac is on my list. I have enjoyed all the bottles I have from them (Classic, Dorado, Normandie and Frontera). The cask strength is something I am very interested in trying/buying. Being a whisky(e)y promiscuous channel I will have many more categories for my end of the year 2023 top whisk(e)y. Definity enjoying the journey! Happy New Year! Cheers.

Just came across you channel. Fantastic choices all around. Hard to choose between the JD and Elijah Craig. Let's see some rye reviews as well. And don't worry about being new at what you're doing. The more the merrier. As long as the info you provide is accurate and well presented. The Japanese whisky you eliminated is pronounced "HIBIKI" not "HIBEKI". And the Bushmills 16 is triple distilled in sherry and ex-Bourbon casks, then it's finished in Port pipes. Wishing you a Wonderful New Year. 🥃

Thank you so much lorenz yakoubian. I understand I pronounced Hibiki wrong. I'm not sure why I did... It just came out that way as I was shooting.
