I’m not too familiar with combat sports but I always assumed it was against the rules to strike someone while they’re down, let alone again and again and again and again
In MMA (UFC) u are allowed to hit your opponent until the ref stops u, doesn't matter if u or/and your opponent is on the ground or not. But hitting on grounded opponent is not allowed in kickboxing, boxing, muay thai etc
Well the thing is. You have alot of demented psychopaths. Who enjoy seeing a fighter unconscious. Slamming their first into their face. Than lying pretending it was the heat of battle. Like they had no control. When every single one of them knew exactly what they was doing.
The Unified Rules of MMA (the ones most MMA promotions use with small changes) do allow ground and pound until the referee stops it. Boxing (including bare-knuckle) and kickboxing do not.

The gloves are mainly there to protect your knuckles and hands from getting injured, if you’ve watched bare knuckle fighting, you’ll see without the gloves, their hands swell up like crazy

The referee is very bad. I'm Thai. If the referee stands dead and doesn't save the boxer when knocked out. You should check your duties. Thai people think it's very bad.
