Thank you for your well thought out video. Please remember that size inclusive also means that it includes sizes for small people. We have just as many challenges as the people on the other end of the spectrum.
Wow what a comprehensive list! I’d love to one day see you do a similar video on designers (particularly smaller designers) with paid size inclusive patterns so that I can support them!
Great podcast! Thank you for this. Bluebird Box Knits recommended you and she was right! And so nice to be able to add another Canadian to my list of podcasters.
Whitney such a tremendous effort to put this list together. I am new to your channel so what a wonderful 1st viewing surprise. Thank you and I am very very grateful. The best thing is, the size inclusiveness. Brings us all closer and we so need this at the moment. ❤
Hi Whitney, I'm very happy that the algorithm made me find you. Great work on your video - so much detail about the patterns, too. Thank you! I can also recommend the free Raglano pattern by the designer Nicolor. It's a spreadsheet option for a raglan sweater and it lets you customize your size as well as your yarn. You can knit it with any yarn.
Love this!!!! I'd like this video 50 times if I could! Such an awesome list, thank you SO MUCH for the time you spent researching patterns, I'm definitely adding many of these to my library and que! ❤️
The Jane Austen books pulled me in! But I was so glad to see you include some masculine/male patterns, I feel like they’re always left off the size inclusive lists. Can’t wait to look closer at quite a few you listed.
Thank you so much for the extensive research and lovely presentation, you've introduced me to so many designers and patterns I'm itching to try out now!
thank you for making this! i love WLK, but i wish she would try to find inclusive patterns for her videos and also update some of hers to be size inclusive
Hi Whitney, TQ so much for sharing this. Truly is awesome and i cant wait to try some of this. May God bless U dear for the effort. Appreciates it much. Muahhhhhh….
Oh my goodness Whitney you are truly amazing. I have just discovered your channel and I’m hooked. I picked out 40 designs that I would love to knit. Thank you thank you so much.💓💓
Might I suggest the Beekman 1802 Cardigan as an alternative to the Neighborly Cardigan! It's almost exactly the same design but with more sizes and a different (I think far better) collar method... I also think it's written a bit nicer than the Lion Brand pattern. I actually did a vest that incorporated both, but only because I didn't find the Beekman pattern until after I was halfway through the project! Great video! I appreciate the inclusion of masculine knits, too!
This video was great 👍 My favorite pattern was the vest. I want to make it for a friend. Thak you for all the hard work. I am going to put a few of the patterns in my queue right now. Rachelle in Seattle
Thank you soooooo much! I found your channel a couple weeks ago and you have inspired me to try again at knitting clothing for myself. I took out a cardigan WIP I started last year and I'm almost done! It's hard to find patterns I like in the right size range and I have zero desire to customize more than adding or removing little bit of length. And i love seeing a pattern on different sized people, it helps me a lot. The first thing I do when I see a pattern I like is go to the "completed projects" page on Ravelry and filter based on amount of yarn used (since usually bigger size means more more yarn used) to see how it works out for others. By doing this I found out that one pattern I loved and had already bought yarn for was actually not scaled appropriately for bigger sizes and I didn't waste my time on it. I have noticed over the past couple of years that there are more size inclusive patterns and I love it!
Aww I’m SO happy to hear that! I hope your cardigan becomes something you love to wear 😊 That’s such a good time searching projects by yardage! I’m going to keep that in mind next time I’m searching patterns!
Very gratefull for finding you today❣ im a newbie on knitting. This helps quite a bit! I have one knitted shrug called the knitted ripple shrug, cant remember who by atm that i desperately want to make n then here you are showing me some other goodies that intrigue me greatly! THANKYOU❣
Thank you! What an awesome video! I will definitely go back and watch your previous videos, I am what you called a "straight knit" even tho I'm still pretty curvy🤣. However my mother is plus sized and I have a hard time finding knits for her so I'm excited about seeing more!!
Hi Whitney, Just wanted to say Hi and Yass Queen. Love your Flax in Shawl in a Ball. I’m totally making the Two of Wands Streamline Tank oversized maybe as a tunic or dress in Coboo or Truboo for Summer☀️ Also omg a cozy cabled dress it’s so happening. 😘😘😘
Such a fabulous resource! I’ve written down about ten different patterns to try but the ones I’ll be checking out first are the Superstitious Pullover, the Maja Cardigan and that super fun Tennen Boom! Thanks for all the hard work putting this together!
Thanks for sharing all these patterns. One suggestion. Leave the pictures up the whole time you talk about it. That way we can see the details you talk about as you talk about them. Thanks for a gun video. ☺️
loved this video. You put a ton of work into it. Thank you for that. When I went to check out the bundle I noticed some of the patterns are not free any longer. Just thought others should be aware of the change in some of the patterns from free to pay. Regardless, I appreciate the time you spent putting this together.
Some of them are both paid AND free! There are free versions on the designers’ blogs or you can pay for the ad-free pdf versions on Ravelry. To access the free patterns, follow the links from my Google Doc listed in the video description or there are links to the free versions listed on the Ravelry pages (it’s in the description of the pattern, not at the top of the page).
Whitney, what an amazing video!! You’ve featured some designers that I was not familiar with and highlighted a lot of patterns that I love!! What an amazing collection that you’ve curated for us! Thank you for doing such wonderful research!! ❤️
This was incredible!!! So happy to add some beautiful patterns to my library 💕 Thank you thank you for the hard work put into this video! It was so comprehensive and helpful.
Wow Whitney! This is fantastic. The amazing amount of research is truly appreciated as well as how you've organized them. . Some of these I have knit, but many I have never seen before. I'm happy to increase my queue. Thanks!
It’s both! Two of Wands has it for free on her blog and you can pay for the ad-free pdf version. To access the free pattern, follow the link from my Google Doc listed on the description or there’s a link to the free version listed on the Ravelry page (it’s in the description of the pattern, not at the top of the page).
Thank you this very helpful video! I have knit so many patterns that list plus sizes, but they often do not fit well (almost as if they are not tested for the larger sizes), or the pattern itself is a shapeless jumper that hides the curves, and I have to make A LOT of adjustments for it to look good. Great job. It's also wonderful that you have knit some of these patterns and we have the benefit of your experience!
I'm new on your podcast (I think it was Herbgarden knitwear that recommended you in her podcast) and normally I'm one of those silent followers. But I need to tell you: I love your attitude! I had quite a lot fun listening and watching while doing some laundry stuff. ;) And if you are interested in another size inclusive designer you need to get to know Nicola Susan aka Nicolor. She is a German designer and some of her designs are free, like the Raglano, I think. and last of all, thanks for your research!
I loved finding this! Several notes were made for new things. Now you should do a list of accessories and socks. Hats, mitts, scarves, etc. you are so passionate about your knitting. I loved it!
When I first started knitting, I got a book with the spreadsheet in it. The book was called nine months to 90 years and had a size for everybody so you could make it for a baby charted on bigger and bigger it show the pattern in cardigan and round. But my first knitting class our teacher told up to pick something we wanted to knit and I went to the library and found a doll size sweater pattern it was about the right size for an American girl Doll and I could practice my colorwork and swatches on the doll size before I committed to buying yarn. Because of this I became a dedicated swatcher!
Thanks for such a great list! Just wanted to add that Jana of Purl Together did a knitalong/tutorial for the Maja sweater including the steeking that should be helpful when you decide to tackle this project.
Thank you so so much, for gathering all of these beautiful knits into one place 🥰 The scarcity of free patterns for bigger sizes makes this video a real gift. Especially for all of us beginners. Just came across the video and subscribed to your channel. 🌸💗
Sorry no, I made it years ago and I don’t actually remember how I did it 😬 Check out my Ravelry project page for it though - I might have written out notes for it.
Great video! I made it all the way to the end, downloaded a few of your suggestions (especially the TinCanKnits! ) and my favorite was the TannenBoom, because it's so amazing. I discovered a few new designers that I didn't know about. Thanks so much, these are all wonderful picks.
I am excited about this episode in particular! Definitely saving it. I have a very knit worthy friend who has a larger bust. I have loved seeing what you knit and your opinions and have carried them over to knitting for my friend. Thank you sooooo much for sharing!❤
Thank you sooo much for this video and review :) I am quite small person, so I watch video not because of the inclusivity, but just like a review for some ideas for summer, which luckily I was able to find! ♥ Can't wait to cast them on and be well prepared for summer :) Good ood luck and have even rows :)
That’s the great thing about a lot of these patterns - they’re not plus size patterns, they’re size-inclusive so they have small sizes in most cases too! Knitting is such an amazing craft because we can make clothes to fit our bodies (not the other way around) regardless of the size of our bodies 😊
The amount of work that went into this video omg Whitney 😵😵 this is a fabulous list!! Also I’ve heard a lot of people mention that Raverly isn’t accessible to some people but never why it isn’t accessible? I’m confused why doesn’t it suit some people?
Thank you so much Aoife! The Ravelry accessibility thing came out last year when they revamped their website. Basically, new Ravelry caused a lot of people headaches, migraines, and in some cases seizures from the visuals of the site. To make matters worse, one of the Ravelry staff publicly ridiculed the people complaining about accessibility issues and basically said people were lying. Really shitty stuff.
This is such a fantastic list, thank you for sharing! I have only knit the Flax so far, but I fell in love with and plan to knit the Maja Cardigan. And your Flax Light swatch is amaaazing 😍
Hi Whitney! New subscriber. 🤗Thanks for sharing your top 50. You gave the perfect amount of info on each item. And, I like that you created a bundle so we could easily find the patterns. Thank you! Christina 😊🧡🧶
I really enjoyed your episode about size inclusive patterns. I am one of those that is smaller and don't have any problem finding patterns but have friends that are limited. This was absolutely fantastic. Great idea to do this.
