My uncle was an alcoholic, yet sober for a time. He died of stomach, liver, and pancreatic cancer at age 68. My alcoholic grandpa died in a bar fight of a massive heart attack.
How much could it cost to hire an editor FFS! Between Bayla Lugosi, Saint Omach cancer, Robe In Williams, Orson Welles photo for Paul Lynne, and other mistakes it’s quite disconcerting. BTW, the Barrymoores make a good argument for a genetic connection with addiction!

Gig Young was married & divorced from Elizabeth Montgomery. He didn't kill Elizabeth, but his violent end wasn't a surprise to Montgomery who had spoken of Young's very abusive behavior.
He is suspected of killing a later wife and himself in a murder/suicide, but the coroner’s report claimed it was a double murder by an intruder. His wife was from Germany and half his age. Her parents long contested the coroner’s finding.
The only times I went to jail was because of drinking alcohol, I haven’t had a drink in 19 years after drinking for 30years I don’t miss the hangovers or acting like an A**hole. If I didn’t stop I would probably be dead by now.
Brit here . I can only listen to thus dreadful computerised commentary for so long but the comments are much more interesting. Well done mate . Well done .
The more I learn about the private lives of celebrities the more thankful I am that I don’t have any acting or musical talent. Between all the divorces and substance abuse it certainly appears that fame and celebrity exacts a huge toll on one’s health and longevity. The amount of alcohol and tobacco products that some of these celebrities consumed could kill a horse. Maybe the price of fame is all the booze and cigarettes one has to consume in order to cope with all its demands. Makes me more thankful for my quiet and relatively boring life!
I remember being unfortunate enough to watch a Richard Burton interview in which he was plastered. Never has so much drivel been uttered in so few minutes. Embarrassing. Great actor, but his private life was a complete mess.
I fell in love with her as a teenager in the '80's. During that time, I read in the People magazine about her both drinking and drugging & her trying to be clean. Doing a bit more research, pretty much all of the Barrymores were, as well as famous, addicted to something. Wish Drew the absolute best of luck...
@@nancydemoss2945 Great comment, as I remember an article in People magazine about her doing the same after the movie E.T.. She was on the cover & was talking about getting both sober & moving on from chemical addiction & making a career for herself. As most of the Barrymores were drunks, but hid it, at least Drew admitted it, overcame it & continues to acts to this day...
@@bdflatlander your right on top of smoking camel unfiltered cigarettes for many years as well. It’s a miracle some of the golden age stars like Bogart, John Wayne and others liked as long as did with all that drank and smoked cigarettes.
Andre had a most unfortunate gigantism that meant he continued to grow and couldnt stop. He was expected to die young. He died in continuous loneliness, since even other giants, while tall, stopped at a height that was bearable. I doubt many giants have very good love lives either. Andre was terribly lonely, his whole life, thus alcoholism.
I never drink and never have. I never had any interest in it. Im not a party person at all. But a former housemate of mine, Josh (son of my landlord's boyfriend), drank so much that it caused him to lose everything. He lost his job as a security guard (or so he says that was his job) in 2019, due to him showing up drunk. He never went back to work, and his mom, who was now living in Connecticut, was paying for all of his bills and necessities. While he lived here, he had shared custody of his two young daughters, aged 3 and 4. He lived in a small room, and never allowed the girls to come out, keeping the door locked. It stank in there severely. He neglected them horribly. The few times i had seen them, they were usually naked or only in diapers without clothing. Neither of them were potty trained. He would only feed them Hot Pockets, Totinos Pizza Rolls, Eggo waffles, or cold Spaghetti-Os straight out of the can onto a paper plate, without a spoon. Both girls would share one can. He played violent videogames all day and watched vicious horror movies in their presence. The girls were seriously thin, not potty trained, non-verbal, and did not respond to verbal commands from others. If the girls did anything wrong, he wouldnt speak to them, but would only get face to face with them and roar like a lion. He was profane and unreasonable, usually angry or just crying to get attention. He left messes everywhere and never cleaned up after himself, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. Eventually his behavior was too much for all the tenants and landlord to bear, so the landlord kicked him out, and he went to live with his brother at his apartment down the street. His brother had young kids too, and it became too difficult to have him around near the kids. About a year passed, and he came back to live with us in the room attached to the garage. He was now suffering from severe anxiety, panic attacks and behavioral issues i hadnt witnessed in him before. He and his ex-wife both lost custody of the girls, because a school teacher noticed multiple bruises on the elder, and the fact that she was not potty trained, non-verbal, and didnt respond to anyone who spoke to her. CPS was called, and they were investigated. The girls were permanently removed from their custody and were diagnosed with several mental illnesses and put in skilled foster homes for disabled children. Neither Josh or his ex-wife are allowed any contact with the girls forever. He began trying to confide in me for purposes of therapy, as I've had PHP group therapy for health issues for many years, so i know how to listen. But he never took advice. He blatantly lied about everything, and it was easily clear he was lying about things. Eventually, he tried to get into rehab, but no place would accept him anymore as he already had a history of escapes from several facilities. The landlord kicked him out again, and he stayed with his brother again, but hes not allowed to stay much longer. He's only 28, and is now on dialysis and cannot drive anymore. He's afraid to go outdoors, unless he wants to go to the liquor store. His mother is coming over to pick him up and take him back to Connecticut (from here in California) in a few days, so she can take care of his health and seclude him from the outside world and deny him any rights to go outdoors, shop, be social, or have access to alcohol or any of his other vices that are ruining his life. Hes on dialysis so hes practically bedridden. And my landlord said theres some other things that are going on that she doesnt quite understand the medical terms for, but that he has many more problems that are leading to a quick death. My landlord only refers to him as either "Yours truly," "The Drunkard," or "The one who must not be named" as if he was Voldemort from Harry Potter. We're all going to be glad when hes gone, but i sure feel sorry for his mother, now going to have to cradle and babysit a grown man who cant handle his own life on his own. Alcohol makes you a loser, so dont touch it unless you want to be a loser.
Cary Grant was an alcoholic and by the 1950s decided his drinking was getting worse and ended switching to LSD and became addicted to that and would get on LSD trips
Everyone has its problems, famously famed or not . Sometimes it's hard to cope and same as the originairaries, they seek solice all in the unhealthy places
But to save a little dignity on my part I would say that in the 70s and 80s when I watched this stuff there was no other form of entertainment in cities besides sports, músic events, board games ect. There where no PlayStation, RU-vid or laptop. So móvies where the cream of the top of entertainment. 😢
@@pholdway5801 I heard on I Love Lucy they smoked the cigarettes that they were advertising. In old movies and TV shows people smoked a lot. I wouldn't notice it but kids are constantly mentioning how much people smoked and drank. And even saying how horrible it is. It just makes me nostalgic and want to smoke and drink.
Ive not known many who can drink alcohol, with out experiencing some sort of behaviour or illness/financial worry, it always happens, its dreadful stuff.
Interesting. However, a photo of Orson Welles was shown for both Orson, and again, for Paul Lynde. Other people in the images were unrelated to the topic. Or, a photo of someone else was shown in place of the subject being talked abou. Many names or words were mispronounced, like 'Robin' Williams was pronounced 'ROH BIN'.
People seem to forget that alcoholism is actually a disease. Some people can drink without any problems, for others it’s a disease that they just can’t handle without help.
Andre the Giant is ranked 50 he admitted to drinking a 117 beers in one night anyone that can drink that many beers has got to get a better ranking than 50th out of 50 that's only three beers shy of five cases
