Ledger LIED to their customers when they said it would be "physically impossible" for the seed phrase to leave the Secure Element chip, and then releasing a service that would "extract" the seed phrase from the chip and send it to third parties... the key thing with that situation is that Ledger lied and made it clear it cannot be trusted.
Yes, Ledger lied and fumbled the PR and compromised some of their devices ... Also Ledger - the company has been hacked (their device has no known hacks or exploits). Yet with the "back door" added by Ledger and a lack of trust - why would anyone buy anything from them? Security is not optional.

There is a BTC only - hardware wallet - air-gapped that looks interesting - and it has several redundant chips (or vendors) - in case - for some odd reason the chip vendors are not 100% above board. Looks interesting - it is pricy - yet its main limitation is BTC only. Could be handy, depending!

It doesn't really matter, if that ever happens and I doubt it will , take your words and buy another wallet ( any wallet at all ) and all is good again. You do know the assets aren't really inside the device they live on the Blockchain
Has Coin Bureau done a video regarding Estate planning with Crypto in mind AND hard wallets? For example, if a biometric feature is used as part of 2FA and the original owner is dead, then will the beneficiary in a will or trust be able to open the hardware wallet or not? If only 2% of Crypto users use hard wallets, I bet even an extremely smaller number have ever thought about how they would address passing on their Crypto after death.

I think "fees" are one reason why people leave their crypto on exchanges. Every time you transfer to and from your wallet you pay, often big fees. I saw one user was paying 12%, that's $24 for $100 crypto to an from the wallet.

I have Ledger Nano X and I am seriously considering switching to Trezor. Glad they released Trezor Safe 3 which is the perfect combination of price & quality.
If you don't have perfect vision, there's a strong chance that the Trezor Keep Metal is not for you, in fact, I'm throwing mine away because he can't be returned as I've tried two letters but since it's used, it's not able to be returned.

First time I bought the nano x, it was broken and didn’t charge correctly. The nano s plus doesn’t need a charger and is only on when connected via usb-c. Don’t go overboard on crypto products because crypto isn’t the kind of industry you need to go nuts on.

Thanks Just wanted to make a technical correction in some of your wording that 12 word seed phrases are somehow less secure than 24 word phrases They are not !!! To guess a simple 12 word seed phrase, you'd have 2048^12 combinations to go through. Minus the checksum failures, you'd need 2^128 combinations. Do you know how big this number is? You'd need billions of years on modern computers to work through it. In fact, to reverse your private key from your public key, you'd need to solve the Elliptic Curve Discreet Logarithm Problem. To solve it, you need to do 2^128 operations. The same number as guessing 12 word phrases. So if some alien form billion years in the future has the power to crack your 12 word phrase, it might as well derive you private key from your public key. And the moral of the fable - 12 word phrases are as secure as anything. Simple math really. Don't waste your time and space with 24 word long texts. Peace.

I like it. I have a Ledger, Tresor and D-Cent. I also have Tangen. Tangen is very simple and has a vast array of crypto. My only complaint is they do not support HBAR. Tresor is very limited with very few crypto currency’s listed. D-Cent, I judge allot by customer service or lack of it. D-Cent is the worst. I sent an email to D-Cent 6 months ago. No reply at all. I sent another, again no answer. To me Tangen wins. I do have concerns about Ledger.
I have a Trezor Model T and a Ledger Nano X. Tangem 2.0 Wallet is the simplest wallet I've ever used. Setup in literally 5 minutes. It's open source, ELA 6+ security. The seed never leaves the card. If you're old school you can generate a seed phrase too. This is the only hardware wallet I'd recommend to ppl new to crypto. I take the simplest method by letting the device generate my seed phrase and storing my backups in different locations. The price of these wallets along with the top notch security makes them a no brainer for me.

That’s a non-issue, you don’t have to bring your specific device with you. All you need is your seed phrase and you can purchase a new device anywhere.
lol a cold wallet means the seed never see the internet, trust wallet show the seed on the phone also you have no display to control the transactions adress.

I don't like Hardware Wallets. At least if they work with a Single Private Key. I prefered using Multisig - tho i'm now switching to more versatile and universal MPC (TSS).

Brother there's tons of videos on RU-vid on how to do this. Just find the tutorial for whichever cold storage you have. You want detailed explanations of that. This is just a general video explaining options

Firstly, there is no absolutely secure hardware wallet, as all have the potential to be hacked, with the difference lying in the time it takes to breach them. In terms of the number of chips, Keystone may be the most secure, with hackers potentially taking a dozen years or more to hack it lol.
thoughts on using desktop vs mobile? can't explain why but I'm reluctant to use my phone. prob because I do more surfing / using links etc there. or because I've left somewhere random - or completely lost - more than one phone lol

For me the keystone is the best, had it a good while now and its never failed me, its not usb so no chance of going corrupt. It doesn't support some of the crypto I have so I use metamask with the keystone pro to sign transactions. Couldn't be happier.
Two ways of losing your crypto. Making a mistake or hacking. For the normal person making a mistake probably outweighs hacking or having their seed phrase stolen by at least a thousands percent. The bulk of all videos concentrate on making cold storage and seed phrases the number one concern. Making things simpler and foolproof should be the number one concern.
You know that, not your wallet, not your crypto, is because it is not that safe being on an exchange, the exchanges can be hacked. So, get it out of there.

I have Ledger Nano X and can never get a reliable Bluetooth connection to either my Android or iOS devices. I always have to resort to USB connection to desktop. Frequently frustrating!
