Three weeks ago I FINALLY got my Black and Gold 1977 Trans-Am!!! I’ve wanted one ever since I was 10 years old (after watching “Smokey and the Bandit” so many times I lost count) The car is absolutely BEAUTIFUL..and it was worth the wait!
Pontiacs were great looking cars overall. Sure like any brands they had a few bad lookers, but they were always right there performance wise with other brands in each model year. The GTO's in my opinion all looked great including the 1974 which many people say negative things about. Yes the performance was down that year but so it was on almost every other car that year. As far as the Firebird Trans Ams go pretty much the same. They all looked absolutely great with in my opinion the 1979-1981 being the only years I personally didn't really like the front end design.
had a 66 GTO in the early 70,s to mid 70,s put holley 750 double pump isky high lift cam hooker headers dynoed at 500 hp beat a Firebird 455SD Trans AM and a 440 6 pack charger and only lost to a 427 66 Chevelle
We have a legal driver in Canada Ontario with G2 stance attain this 2024 and is 25 so looking for good cars now that it is good. I remember my first Tempest and heard of Sunfire when I was 16. Got street experience over 10 hour but no road test like the sibling got recent. Cars are awesome and pontiac are pretty good like Mustang and Chrysler. The Dodge Viper pretty big news in Oakville. Hope Pontiac still flies its good though
Yup, a few Pontiacs were not mentioned - 62 421 Super Duty Catalina, 69/70 Ram Air IV GTO, 73/74 SD 455 Trans Am, 1989 Trans Am Pace car, any Pontiac with the Royal Bobcat treatment 😸
So, what were the 6? 64 GTO, 68 FB, 65 2+2, 69 Judge, OBD2 LS WS6, and 455 HO GT-37? Was that them? What did they sell for? What about the 421 SD Cats? 455 SD T/As. Was this an opinionated list by CCF?
BTW, the 5 hp bump on the base 305, in 83… was that because of the air induction hood? Exhaust was the same 82-84, except the HO versions. Did the HO versions have the twin snorkel air cleaner?
The 1973 SD 455 with only 252 ever made and about 100 of those were 4 speed. Rated at 290 HP, the torque was excellent. The handling was great for its time. How was this Pontiac missed??
The reason that for the 68 firebird having less HP than the GTO is simple They did not allow the 4bbl to open completely. I should know 😅😅 Once you correct that minor infraction you get all the HP that it originally came with, and it was lighter than the GTO as well
You forgot the 70 -74 trans am's and as for some of the quickest , don't forget the 89 turbo trans am, low 13's stock 😮 it was the quickest firebird made. ¹
Top 6 1# 63 421 sd 2#69 gto ram4 3#69 trans am 4# 69 grand prix sj 428 370hp 5# 65 gto royal bobcat 421ci 6# 70-73 trans am an firebirds 455 ho/sd Except for 62,63 an sd/ho of 70-74 Pontiac quit trying to beat chevy an was happy with #2 at gm Now calm down I've had a 69 fire bird an 2 65 gto 68 Bonneville 428 360 hp an my 2006 gto. But mid late 60s chevy bbc high compression engines were better an affordable now with Edelbrock heads Pontiac as can actually a Ford and find a nice decent high flow instead of heads otherwise you're pain through the ass for Ram Air 3 or 4 heads
