This is one of the best review of pedals that i've seen in a long time, it helped me a lot, and this dude it's funny xD, he makes me remind of Russell Brand
The avalanche run sounds the best and is the most versatile in my opinion, you can do so much with it it's ridiculous. Definitely great if you're looking to experiment and get some unique tones
I’ve never heard anyone use the Holy Grail flerb setting where it sounded nice until now. In fact most people say it’s horrible but after your demonstration I beg the differ. Way to go bro..
These types of reviews are the best, ones that seem more like informal chatting with a knowledgeable friend. As opposed to all those reviews where people quite literally just read the company’s product specifications out loud and don’t offer any real insight into, even if it’s just personal taste
Boss definitely has it's standard as it is one of the pioneer maker in the industry and being affordable . But with vast competitions from the market with modern tones and easily dial in, it is just not getting that much attention in the social media, but weirdly, i still see a lot of stores carrying them( new stocks) and not so much throw out in the used market. My wild guess is a lot of people still buying them.
Killer review and watch out for that swell in your pants hahaha! Hard to choose from all these pedals. The OCD perfect pitch guy in me thinks the 3 high strings sounded a little flat.
The Earthquaker pedals are without question the best ones here. Not even close IMO Strymon Big Sky and El Cap and Flint are only other rivals. Avalanche Run is a badass
Those Reverbs are " Supposedly " Lexicon Reverbs - which are some of the Best Ever Created. I had a Rack Lexicon MPX-1 and it Destroyed ( both ) my Roland & Yamaha ( equally expensive ) Rack Reverb Units in the Recording Studio. This was a Great Job with the Review - but the BUZZING from that Guitar would make me Nuts. I like Every Note to Ring True.
Currently comparing Holy Grail Neo, Digitech Polara, Boss RV5, Hardwire RV-7. I am looking for something really simple. Something that gives some space. What to look for. Room? Plate? Hall? +hawg427
Strymon just has a more natural reverb sound to my ears and so many modes and tweaks just make it the best of this group. The Avalanche was surprisingly good. The rest are meh... not sure how a reverb pedal does not have stereo outputs... makes no sense.
Reverb is a tough sell. The output buffer should be wicked unless you got a fancy extra one or two after it.. The Hardwire Reverb buffed the best so far, really, in my limited selection.... At least as good as the Strymon and Seymour Duncan stuff. The EQD Avalanche , sounded amazing but output buffering was week. (Love it though!) - Had to pull it. But I will keep it! . Seriously, It's the last thing, , Reveerrrbbbb, , - Get the one that will *quality bufferize the hell out of your paddle signal, , Rev, On OR Off. - Or, just short cable that shit. to the rig. *&^(#(@^& , Yaarrr.
I want all of these, but god dang the fender frv-1 is $250, it uses COSM modeling, which my boss ME-25 also has, and it has the reverb built in. Either way, that all natural Kramer is sick.
fwiw dave-o i have one and i think it sounds much much better irl than in this vid. no disrespect to pmt but as he's played/recorded it, it sounds very hissy to me. my jazzmaster and ac15 are as bright a combo as you like and it's not as hissy as it sounds here. it's an amazing pedal but not at all a conventional reverb. an expression pedal is a must
Boss pedals sound the best. I’ve always wondered why more pedal makers don’t copy the boss switch design. I don’t like the click noise most pedals make. Unfortunately boss hasn’t been a good looking pedal since the early 90’s. They could use some sort of visual upgrades.
