I went down the other day. Hit a guardrail. Thank god I was wearing all my gear. My arm needed some stitches and my shoulder was dislocated. The doctors were extremely surprised how little damage I took all things considered. They said if I wasn't wearing a jacket my arm would have been a mangled mess. Wear ur gear. It works. It saves you. Shopping for a new one and will never ride without one. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
i was in a motorcycle accident 2 months ago, my dad always swore by Shoei helmets and when he taught me to ride he always had me in a Shoei and he himself was always in a Shoei. i was on my way home from work and i had the green light, a car turning left didn’t see me and turned in front of me. i suffered a broken scapula, broken wrist, broken ribs, open book pelvis fracture, and tore ACL, MCL, and LCL in my knee. please wear a helmet. you always have to ride defensive, never expect cars or anyone else on the road to see you. i’m lucky to live to tell my story. love your channel.
@@tacitus101010 I wish I could ride all year, I have to squeeze my miles in through a 7 month riding season. Perhaps I should be looking for better gloves, a pair typically last a season before I lose confidence in the protection.
@@captainthruster9484 of coerce gloves wear. but punching through the fingertips in 2 years is excessive. my lether dailys after 4 years don't show signs of wearing through anywhere. and its a question of safety. i like the skin on my hands and would rather not have it smeared across the road, and a good glove is part of that. and weak material that disintegrates after 2 years does not pass my safety sniff test. they are spidi str-4 coupe gloves if you wanta know.
The problem with those Dainese gloves is that they have a leather edge that cuts through your wrist with a superbike stance (since your wrist are always at an angle). I tried them but couldn't resist more than 10 minutes. If anyone else has this problem I suggest the Spidi G-Carbon. Solid, breathable and comfortable
Do Not Buy the Icon Alliance!!! I had one on the track and coming on the the straight away the visor flew up and ripped off. I contacted Icon about it. They said maybe faulty visor, sent me a new visor. Sense then the visor has never worked the same.
Dude you got a new subscriber even though I have no interest in any of the gear you suggested as I ride in Canada, most of our summers aren't warm enough for those option. The presentation was epic, if you wrote the script nice work, if someone else wrote it for you, give them a pat on the back. Nice work.
Harley bro here, thinking of trying a sport bike for the first time........i ride hard and long and fast, and I keep trashing the drivetrain in the Road Glide because of it, my HARLEY dealer recommended that I do my solo rides on a sport bike from now on so that i will save money on trashing my touring bike. I am thinking R1 but im 6 foot 1, that bike is small, i may go for a katana, money is no object, im 37 years old and have 4 cruisers, usually i roll with 2000cc's or bigger
Not sure about other brands, but Fieldsheer Charger jeans were at least one size larger than normal jeans. I can wear my regular jeans under them in the same size and they still have some slack.
I got a icon hooligan jacket for warm riding and it was nice for $160 with elbow, shoulder and back protection included. Got a alpine stars for cold rising a alpine star hyper $250 and it’s great even in 40 degrees. I got some Dainese gloves for summer but forgot the style on sale for $50 ash for cold I got so,e alpine SXM-z and good in 40 degree mornings. Just because I love in CO I will ride any chance I get long as it’s 40 or up. I like the gear I got so far. I do want that Dainese from the video for summer though
One of the first yam video's i couldnt dissagree more with..; 2 piece leather suit from arlen ness or dainese.. shoei/agv/bell helmet.. if possible carbon, cause carbone (Bell race star, agv corsa R, shoei Rf1200) SIDI BOOTS, sidi is like no other (if you got the budget go for higher end, modulair like the Sidi Vertigo Cora Air) Alpinestar or dainese full gloves (Alpinestar gp pro, Alpinestar sp-2, Dainese carbon 3) Backpack?? cause no sportbike fits more than 2 cans of redbull And yes all of this is wearable for commuting or daily rides, better protected and goodlooking when u get on the road..; most of us speed anyways
I use a scorpion eco400 helmet. An icon overlord type 1 jacket. Icon riding pants. Alpinestar boots. Icon gloves. In the colder months I use a joe rocket that is a bit better for wind apposed to the icon but the same bottom gear but a layer under the pants and gloves . Lol and my old xr200 r will go fast enough to grab enough wind to rip the dirt helmet visor and snap it. It cought air one day as I was doing a pull and I just so happened to look up to far and it snapped the plastic on the visor lol .. now it's zipped on .. I should use the exo but I drop the trail bike alot so don't want to wreck it.
The only complaint I have is that there is no back or chest protection (only wrists and shoulders). It would have been nice to have the back protector at this price point.
Well hang on, kevlar is a *kind* of aramid fiber. Do you mean it's an "off brand" kevlar or just a different kind of aramid fiber, like nomex, for the heat resistance because of friction heat when sliding ?
What he said wasn't wrong though lol, his point is that you can't hear "aramid" and think "oh sweet, kevlar" You just pointed out the potential differences is all.
Hi! funny as I am looking for some new pieces of gear. Specifically gloves.. While I have short stubby fingers, I find it hard to find a decent pair of gloves without having up to an inch of empty space in the fingers...
If you're looking for leather gloves you can get a size smaller it'll stretch and will fit you perfectly. It'll be uncomfortable for first few weeks but it's much better than riding with loose gloves.
Meh....Dainese jacket is nice, maybe the women's A stars, but the rest is absolute garbage! Much better, cost effective options out there.....truly disappointed
Pretty sure there is no specific supernoto gear because there is no specific supermoto riding style. Some riding their supermoto like it's a sportbike on the track and twisty roads and others going light off road.
uhhmm... i ride my sportsbike with an adventure helmet and damn my neck hurts when i hit 60mph plus the wind noise swoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh
Bro I just started your channel 25 minutes ago and the first video on gear 3 years ago you said screw Dianese there so expensive and in this one your saying their the best. Not sure if I misheard that but im confused already and havent even bought my bike yet 😂
Wait... the gloves gave your fingers holes? Like wtf. who would like to use those gloves then? What are they? Inverted Freddy Krueger/Edward Scissorhand’s gloves? 😳😳😳
If your street behaviour requires you to wear a suit on your weekend rides? 🤦🏻♂️ No, it’s not the street behaviour that requires anyone to wear a suit, it’s the general standard of driving from the twats in 2 tonne metal boxes coupled with human flesh being at a natural disadvantage when pitted against tarmac at speed. Funnily enough, contrary to what seems to be a popular opinion in the states, the skin/flesh on your legs is also at this same disadvantage, so if you’re concerned about safety then they should form part of you protective gear.
Starting to get annoyed with the in video advertising.. Love your channel but maybe i don't want to shave my nuts. It just gets old, does it have to be in every video?
