One of my favorite memories of Push was when my Dad walked by wearing a big hat and Push shouted "Look it's Indiana Jones!" and then sang the theme song
I never said 'Andy's coming! ' or 'Bonnie is coming! ' I'd say, " Quick! Jerry is coming! Start jumping! " And they would jump around with me. Good old memories :)
I remember hearing about that monorail accident. It was a miscommunication that made the park realize how dangerous the cockpit was. The driver in the cockpit was a well known cast member, nice and remembered by a lot of guests, only 21. There was a miscommunication and one monorail track didn’t switch and the one who was supposed to switch went straight into his. The cockpit was smashed. Park guests in the trolley behind him tried to help him but he couldn’t be saved. When inspectors were examining the cockpit, they found out his last action alive was throwing the rail into reverse in an attempt to protect the passengers by going backwards but ultimately wasn’t able to go back at all before it was too late. This caused an even more strict communication on the monorail system and in procedures for track switching where it won’t go unless properly checked.
I remember hearing an accident similar to this but instead it was a teen that tried to sneak in Disney World by jumping from the monorail track and the security told him to get down and he thought that they were just yelling at him from his behavior but what he didn't know that they were actually warning him because a monorail was coming straight at him he ended up being crushed and dragged 40 feet from the monorail and ended up losing his life 😢
Story time! A little bit of info first for context: My sister and I are identical twins. So when we went in Disney world for the first time as children, we were dressed the same and actually met Push. He followed us around, so interested in us, these two adorable twins that i don’t think he ever saw before, and it was a total riot!!! XDDDDD We sadly stopped going to Disney World before 2014 hit and thre last time me and my sister went was for our high school field trip in 2016. RIP PUSH, we’ll never forget ya.
I forgotten exactly which year but one time I'm sure I saw a talking trash can outside Star Tours in Tommorowland at Disneyland, California. It moved around and spoke to me
It was one of my favorite things on family vacations as a kid. My father was a champ at spotting the CM and making sure at least each trip we did it once. Staying at the Polynesian helped though. It increased the amount of chances.
I've been to WDW more than 12 times and have a friend who used to be a Cast Member. Although he told me lots of secrets about the parks, your video brought me very interesting and new information. Thank you very much!
It would be cool if those red phone booths has some secret phone numbers and when you called them, a disney character would pick up (not really just the audio) say something in character, and wishing them a good stay at Disney.
One fun thing we cast members could do at the EPCOT World showcase was create what we called “a magical moment” and let guests watch Illuminations from higher up areas (like the balcony level in the Italy pavilion). It was usually reserved for wedding parties and make a wish kids, but occasionally cast members would let the a random guest(s) do it
my favorite thing about the picture is that both kevin and tpmvids are both hiding because they havent had their proper face reveal yet lol either that or they're just not comfortable with showing their faces on screen which in that case I'm fine with that
We got to ride in the cockpit of the monorail when our kids were still young but old enough to be very excited about it. It was very much a secret at that time & the kids loved it.
On the trips my family and I went on (parents and siblings) from 1980 up until 2005 or so I think we were able to ride in the cockpit three times in total.
being disabled at disney comes with alot of perks lol. I'm someone who suffers from extreme panic attacks and as a kid that would get me alot of these cool experiences! I rode in the cockpit of the monorail a few times and it was insane! I also once had an episode before going on the epcot ball ride and a cast member brought me through the "celebrity doors" and was telling me all about the cool people that walked through the same doors. And as i got off the ride he was standing with a certificate from mickey that said "a certificate to celebrate your bravery and strength". I still have it framed to this day! It's crazy how little things at disney can change someone's outlook on life.
Whenever my Aunt goes for Christmas or around Christmas time, she brings Christmas Cards and gives them to the Cast Members that just do those little bits of extra for someone as her way to give back to a park that has been important in her life for a looong time. I got to go one year with her and had no idea she did this [thus didn't bring my own] and she handed me a small stack and explained. Idk if they had more than a message in them since I didn't have the courage to open them, but I remember how much it made some cast member's days to get something so small as a token of gratitude and I hope it meant as much to them, as all those little gestures mean to the guests that actually care about that stuff. Because NGL - if I had even something half as nice as that story happen to me, I'd cherish it forever - even if the parks did a full 180 and became a terrible place.
We found a paintbrush on Tom Sawyer’s Island on March 1, 2020. We had no idea the scavenger hunt still existed! We were so excited just to find the brush!! We did return it to the Raft driver on our way back to Frontier Land. You no longer receive a fast pass, but you do receive a little certificate saying you found a brush and thanks for helping Tom get back to his chores.
I remember when I was about 7 or 8 I went to Disney for my birthday and Push the Trashcan saw that I had a birthday pin and wished me a happy birthday! He sang and spun around like he was dancing. It was so cute and I loved it. It was the highlight of my day. Really sad to see that he's been removed :c Also: I'm 23 now :>
When I was about 10 years old, I wanted to try to pull the sword from the stone but my older brother thought it was a waste of time and kept yelling that I couldn't do it. I guess a cast member must have overheard because I pulled it and it lifted. The cast member came over and showered me with pixie dust and had me sign my name in her autograph book. That moment was so magical that it stuck with me for years and it was part of the reason I became a cast member myself! I hope they bring it back again someday.
I last went to Disney World in 2008 and I remember there being Push the talking trashcan. I thought it was really cool and was able to walk up to it and throw something away in it only to realize that it would come to life and thank me for feeding it. For a moment it scared me but I soon laughed it off and followed the can around with my brother. Another thing I loved for secrets is that actors would stay in character for the whole time because I visited Aladdin and Jasmine one time and got them to sign my autograph book, but when Aladdin signed it he turned my brother and I back to look at the camera to take a picture and pocketed our autograph books. I asked for them back before we left and he was like "oh, these.. right.." and it made me so happy he stayed in character for that extra additional submergence into Disney World as a whole. Also, I went on the Stitch ride and realized that isn't around anymore.. 12 years changes a lot like how the world of Mickey and his friends changed to Belle's town or something as I've heard from one of my friends that last went. It's sad to hear that things you went to see are no longer available for other visitors to go through.
I remember when we went one of the last times, the dude who played Jack was similar. My brother had a mickey ear hat with a snowman head on it and he jumped back and told my brother he was one scary dude to be wearing another man's head. It was pretty funny.
This is a fun little story from my adventures at Disney World. So I had watched a bunch a videos on fun facts about Disney World since I'm a Disney nerd and it was my first time going to the park. I got really excited to find out about the paint brush scavenger hunt (I didn't know that it was discontinued at the time). I went to Tom Sawyer's Island looking around for nonexistent paintbrushes like an idiot until a cast member came over and asked if I was lost. I told him that I was looking for the brushes and he said that they were discontinued. He said he liked that I was keeping the WDW tradition alive so he got a piece of paper and a pen and drew a paintbrush for me and gave me a fastpass. I'm telling you if this isn't Disney magic, I don't know what is!
I was able to ride in the front of the monorail during my last trip to Disneyland in like 2019 or something. The pilot was super cool and kept telling us things like how long he had been doing it and how often he gets to train other pilots, and how the monorail was the fastest ride in Disneyland. It's so cool being able to see the track as you go over it and a bunch of crazy views onto other rides too.
I got to ride once as a kid, I remember it was either really early in the day or really late, there weren't many people but I remember my brother or I had had a really crummy time and were upset. Dad was chatting up the person keeping tabs on things and she asked if we'd want to be junior conductors. My dad asked and we had no idea so we said yes. The pilot was so sweet. He told us all kinds of facts, let us push some buttons [that from my understanding actually didn't do anything or controlled things like AC in that specific cabin] and just tried to make our day a little bit better. I remember it was really cool and it was the first time I wasn't scared on the monorail. [I was always terrified as a kid that it'd crash or fall off at random for no reason ... so hearing that there WAS a real crash shook me up a bit - thankfully I was older and understood that it was super rare and hasn't happened before or since but ... if little me heard it I'd probably have to skip the monorails for life] Still can't do Skyliner. I did it once and it stopped for over an hour, in the hot sun, over top of a working high way. I was NOT okay XD
When I was a kid, I did get to ride in the front of the monorail at Disney World. It was fantastic and we got a great view of things like all the deer that live under the tracks.
10:51 Can we just admire how adorable it is that Kevin goes venturing to Disney with other RU-vidrs, but always ducks out of frame or has the camera pointed at his feet. It's more of a meme than his privacy at this point, lol.
Did the College Program in 09 and worked in Tomorrowland. Push was THE BEST. The operator was incredible at interacting with guests while staying incognito. I miss Push!
I know of a little secret that a cast member kindly told us about when we were on the hunt for a Tommorow land pin (like in the movie) The stores sell this pin but it doesn't look like the exact one from the movie so we were told to ride test track and after the ride and the car room there will be someone with a clipboard who asks you to take a survey and at the end of it they give you the tomorrow land pin :) I'm not sure if they do this anymore but we felt so cool after wards.
When I was little, I was selected to join the driver of the monorail a year or two before they stopped at Walt Disney World. It was magical and something I’ll never forget!
I wish I knew the Andy's Coming! Thing before when I was younger... I loved Toy Story and it would have been a cool experience! I also didn't know that you can sit in the cockpit of the monorail! Great video!
The guy who did PUSH is one of my co workers. He says it was one of his favorite gigs ever. Really cool video TPMvids. I enjoyed this walk down memory lane. Thank you.
I think the paint brushes have something to do with the Disney video game: Epic Mickey, because that game also had a paintbrush in it, too. A very important one needed to beat the game.
As a kid, way back in the late 90s early 2000s my family got to ride up front as an "accident." We didn't know it was a secret or anything, I was just curious if we could ride up front and we were allowed to. Didn't get a copilot license though, nor did my sister
I did that in December 2006 when I was 14. I was in Florida on holiday. What an experience it was. It was like I was driving the monorail (even though I wasn’t.) Indeed it was a shame it closed.
My aunt used to pilot the monorails (I've had a couple family members work for WDW, it's awesome), and I got to ride in front once when I was quite young!
I am 36 years old and never been to any theme parks specially Disney so sometimes these videos are some of the only ways I can get to see things like this
For a long time, you could bring a life sized droid with you in the hotel. After 2014, you can't do that because of the star wars gallaxy's edge was comming. In seguoia lodge hotel you could see poppets the Rescue Ranger in a window near a shop. They had to go for a new coffeeshop, some of the staff told me they left for a supply run.
