I’m on Entresto, cadivolol, Jardiance, and Rosuvastatin & also just got a pace maker implanted still not feeling too good. I’m always dizzy now and super tired, can’t sleep no desire to do anything anymore. I hope in due time I can bounce back to half way feeling good. Are these medications a good combo? Has anyone been on these meds? My heart is working at 25% unfortunately guess that’s why I’m so extra tired. Ugh this really does suck I’m only 45 yrs old 😔
Looks like you're on the right regimen. I'm also on spironolactone. I read something about arjuna bark powder which I received today. I also saw a RU-vid video on Barostim therapy which I shall ask my doc about. Sounds promising. I was 50 when my EF was 23%. It went back up to 35% with the right pill regimen and then because they had to take out and replace my whole ICD I am now back to 25%. But I had a good run as I'm now 64.
Coenzyme Q10 is good for heart failure and gives extra energy without side effects. Eat lots of vegetables, salads, fruits also. I hope you feel better very soon.
You probably should be on a diuretic as well - spironolactone or torsemide Stick with it, diet, exercise and the right drugs will help get you back on your feet. Watch the sodium intake and walk, walk a lot - the more you exercise the less fatigue and the better you will feel oddly ❤
I take almost all of the medications mentioned. My ejection fraction fell from 60% in 2013 to between 25% and 35% in November 2023. I was admitted to hospital (UK) with increasing shortness of breath and put on this cocktail of drugs, also including Rosuvastatin. That was about six weeks ago. I was discharged after five days on the acute cardiac ward and since I started on the new medication regimen I feel considerably better. I used to get out of breath just climbing the short flight of stairs in my house. Now I can go for a one mile walk without problems. As far as I'm concerned, these meds are wonder drugs! It's a bit of a hassle every morning, and to some extent before bed, doling out each of ten* medications, but I'm a 77-year-old retired computer programmer, so I can approach the challenge in a consistent manner, with tracking charts, even little programs I've written for myself. It's the only way, otherwise it would be too easy to miss one or other medication. * Ten also includes non-heart-related medications such as Tamsulosin for enlarged prostate and Lansoprazole.
@@HeartMatters My dad takes them, his heart was running at 50%. and kidneys were 31, now his heart is 55% and kidney 43. But his feet are very blown up. He is 84. He broke his femur two years ago and now waiting to get plate and screw out as it's causing pain, hope his feet will go down a bit once he can get a bit more mobile as he is in lots of pain and only uses zimmer. He takes Spirolactone too and various other s
Great quesion, most medicines like beta blockers and a class of drug called angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE Inhibitors) also help improve strength of the heart muscle.
is abroad and was diagnosed with heart failure am 50 years old and the odds of living do not seem the best exercise and eating good food is probably the best way to get as long as possible
Thanks for your comment. I tell my patients that irrespective of how weak the heart is, we must always work together to do all we can to boost heart function; there are so many good treatments now available that will ensure symptoms are managed with excellent quality of life. Keep positive and work in partnership with your treating team.
Heart failure is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE. people can live till there 70s 80s with it. I have it. I take metoprolol half in morning and half at night. I take Olmestatin for blood pressure at night, AND I've had 2 Aortic Valve Replacements. One in 2000 when I was 34yrs and a redo in 2016. Don't panic. Get your doctor to give tou a diuretic for when you get fluid build up, (if you do). Enjoy your life. You have a full life ahead. Just don't SMOKE CIGARETTES NOW.😊
Great question, we have several options slowly emerging for heart failure with preserved heart function, the basics of diuretics are important to control symptoms managing underlying conditions e.g. high blood pressure, valve disease,, obesity, obstructive sleep apnea are critical. Medications like SGLT2/gliflozins are showing some benefits too. Thanks for suggesting this topic for an upcoming video!
Heart matters: I bought some ashwaganda and then found out from my nephrologist that it is contraindicated for dialysis ( I don’t know if it’s ok if you have kidney disease). Please check with your doctor first.
My own is caused by high blood pressure and my cardiologist said my right ventricle is not okay . I want to reverse it because lam awaiting mother. I m worried if I can be able to give birth with the heart failure. Which natural means or supplement can help me
That is a very important suggestion, I will work on a video to look at all the natural supplements that can be useful when managing various cardiovascular conditions, thank you for taking an interest in the channel!
I have less than %40 ejection fraction and refused all medicines. Started to walk more than 20,000 steps a day. Will let u know the results if still alive in 3 months.
I was diagnosed with heart failure in November 2023. I had a triple heart bypass in 2013 and it is thought that damage to the heart back then has increased over the last 11 years. After my CABG in follow-up, my ejection fraction was 60%. In November 2023, when I was experiencing breathlessness on only slight exertion, the EF was measured at 25 - 35%. The hospital cardiologist put me on a daily regimen of medications, which have improved my condition considerably. These are: Dapagliflozin, Entresto, Furosemide, Eplerenone, and Bisoprolol. However, I had been taking Bisoprolol and before that Atenolol for many years. In addition to the meds listed, I also take Apixaban and Rosuvastatin. I'm 78, male, living in England, and I'm just about to mow the back lawn.
This is interesting, I'm on an ACE2 inhibitor and still have a bit of a coughing problem still, and it seems they reduce arterial inflammation as well as the other reported functions. My heart rate was in the range of 50-68 before I was on beta blockers, now it's 58-78 which is interesting given what's presented here. The beta blocker also (I believe) is responsible for relaxing my stomach's upper sphincter resulting in me needing to take an ion pump inhibitor due to continuous indigestion in the absence thereof. Another side effect I noticed was that I was given a corticosteroid while recovering from COVID and the combination gave me 24hr hiccups (every 5-10 seconds), I had to stop the steroid because I couldn't sleep and it was really painful after a while. I also take a diuretic called Moduretic that works so well that I take 1/4 tablet of the smallest available lest my BP gets so low that I'm dizzy sitting down. I've tried various others and they do not agree with me (rapid heart rate between 90-130).
Those medicines have side effects!! I used to take them prescribed by my cardiologist and have stopped taking after I switched my diet from low fat high carb diet to high fat low carb diet such as keto. I have been staying away from sugar and reduced carbo intake as much as possible. I am doing just fine by only taking supplements namely D3, K2, Zinc, vit C and Magnesium daily👍👍👍.
You lost me BIG TIME!! I think I have tried every single one of those drugs; not only did they NOT help, the side effects were horrible…and on top of that, more research seems to show that they really don’t have much benefit when it comes down to the nitty gritty.-
I'm doing the same here plus intermittent fasting . I have experienced a big drop in my blood pressure reading after stopping the consumption of sugar. Started doing a exercise program. I was taking all these medications but felt terrible.
I love the way you explain. You are a highly professional doctor and professor who can educate your followers well. Keep doing what you are doing. You are precious😊
Thank you! Losartan is an angiotensin 2 receptor blocker drug that is included in the top 7. Amiodarone is a drug to help control the rate and rhythm of the heart but no prognostic benefit in improving outcomes directly from heart failure. Eliquis is a blood thinner that may be often needed but again, does not improve the strength of the heart.
hi doctor hello . Thank u for choosing most wanted video on how to increase EF naturally with systematic eating and behavioral habits. I am a vegetarian and from India. Please suggest herbs / vegetarian diet if possible to improve EF. Thank you doc for yr great service to public.
There are many oher options that may have benefit including nitric oxide but trying to appropriately deliver nitric oxide to where it is needed is a challenge.
@@HeartMatters yes but they don't have a Nobel Prize and have over 350,000 peer review papers written about them next you will be dismissing Moringa the tree of life...Top 7, false advertisement
Thank you for advice!! Im 49 !! One year ago I had a problem with my heart, long story! In general, the cardiologists established that I had several heart attacks, blockage of two arteries, a clot in my heart! Heart failure, the heart was working 10%! The proposal was a transplant! After two weeks with medication, they stabilized me, and as you know, transplantation is a long procedure! they let me go home with medicine and lifeVest! I also had to go on a strict diet and reduce my salt intake enormously! Two months ago, I did a general examination again! Ultra sound, Nuclear stress test etc! My cardiologist told me that now my heart is functioning at 40% and it was at 10%! The blockages are gone, the clot is gone! And he told me that he will not do a transplant but will see other options! My heart is better but of course still weak! I'm going to the cardiologist on Friday, if he suggests stents, etc. If i have no choice,ok but I'd be happy to just continue with the medication! The pressure is normal ... a little low, about 110/70, heart rate between 60-80! My meds are! Magnesium oxide 400 mg - Furosemide 40 mg - Eliquis 5 mg total - Amiodarone 200 mg - Entresto 24-25 mg - Spironolactone 25 mg - Metoprolol 25 mg
Im on all the meds for 18 months stable , then hit a blip , dehrated, sipping water all through night , weeing , sweating, getting no sleep , any one else same symptons ?? Please reply , lolx to all.
Is there any treatment for heart scarring after a heart attack Any class of drugs, nutrients, and/or diets that can minimize heart scarring to increase EF?
William, this has been a major challenge, face to face patient doctor visits have been compromised and it is difficult to adequately assess patients over the phone.
I'm in the early stages for treatment and appreciate hearing what options are out there. Glad to read the comments which offer valuable insight into the journey that includes some of these medications. Reading their experiences is very valuable, and from my initial findings the medical industry is learning along with the rest of us. Thank you very much for your video.
I have mild dilated left ventricle and moderate systolic dysfunction at 45% …is my breathing feeling really relaxed and laboured for weeks a normal symptom aswel as anxiety, paleness and muscle loss from being inactive
My potassium is 5.4, with good k kidney function. The doctor never mentioned it could be my sperlactone with beta blockers. I'm gonna bring it up on my next dr. Visit
Is it okay to take Ashwaganda herbal medicine if I’m a heart patient. Is there any other vitamins we should take to keep the heart healthy? Thank you for all the helpful advice. 🙏😄
Ashwaganda has several positive benefits, particularly in conrolling how the body releases stress hormones like cortisol. You raise an important topic, there are so many products sold that report to have benefits, many do not have any definite evidence. We will have a video on top 'natural' products and a review of these.
I would be careful with that, it Will normally also make youre body work harder somthing u don't want. If you already have a active thyroid it can make it work alot harder happend to me not good for youre heart. Would be careful with listing to this youtuber tho
Forxiga can, it has some properties like medicines called diuretics. Also by improving heart function, this will also help prevent fluid build up in the lungs and legs
