CHOLESTEROL: Do not eat carbs (rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, muffins, pastry, sugar, alcohol) for 2 weeks, and it will disappear (fat is not as important, but avoid animal fat too during the cleanse). If you add some day of fasting it will go away at least for a year. I ate sardines, salmon, onion, shrimp, sea bass (lubina), sea bream (dorada) with hot oil with fried garlic to finish them, "on their backs" (a la espalda), and fruits, mostly oranges, and drank lemonade (just lemon, water, and baking soda - bicarbonato sódico -), now some doctors recommend apple vinegar too. Basically I ate one onion with some fish a day, plus fruits and seeds - almonds, peanuts, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, nuts - the days I were anxious, and since then, even being very fat I have no high cholesterol. PS: I lived in Pedregalejo my childhood, and next time ask for "gambas al pil pil" in Bar el Pimpi Florida de El Palo (desde 1971) I do not know if it is childhood memories, but if it still exists, and serves the same "garlic shrimp" I suppose it will be good.

Although we were in Malaga last April, we didn’t stray too far from the old town. We walked to Pedregalejo one Sunday in Jan this year. All the Chiringuitos were so busy we could not get a table, all fully booked. It was an amazing place to visit, so vibrant, we ended up just sitting with an ice cream on a wall watching the world go by.

Malaga is the next mini break I've planned with my husband. We had an Andalucian holiday for our 25th wedding anniversary (Cadiz, Jerez, Granada, Nerja) and I'm now obsessed! Seville and Cadiz (yep, again, it may be my new favourite place 😊) last January😅 Can't wait to get to Malaga next.

The paella "a la Alicante" really grabbed my attention and I can have vermouth as an aperitif or as a drink to accompany any dish. Vermouth is really a true addiction for me (I know that I repeat that all the time, but it's true). I've heard so many wonderful things about Malaga and the beachfront looks very nice. Frying foods is a quick way to feed folks but it doesn't support the health of my body. However, I would have ordered the calamari with pleasure. The sushi? I would have been in heaven over there. It looked amazing! You did a lot of work to bring this video to us. Thanks James for all your effort and attention to give us so much information and choices. I am always grateful to you. My favourite dishes at 'el tintero' are almejas, gambas a la plancha and mejillones (all seafood really). When you go there after 1pm the waiters just come out with the dishes and you can take them instatly. Price is between 30-50€ per person.

There's a special place called youtube: where you can watch the most delicious meals, in 4K, while you eat sweet chili heat doritos. I'm only 5 1/2 minutes in and I'm already in awe of this selection; I'm out of the closet for how delicious those sacks look.

Zamburiñas with Ketchup, sorry but that's a no-no. They have to be served with lime or lemon. Also some bars put them in the microwave, if you see that, run! Thanks for the video, great as always.

It’s a bit hit and miss! It’s a public holiday but some beach restaurants and may be open as families like to go out for lunch. However, most are really bad at updating their opening hours on google etc so don’t rely on that being accurate. You might just have to take a chance. Try getting there on the early side (1pm) to scope it out and see if you can sneak in before the main lunchtime rush at 2.30-3pm.

Malaga was known by the "Chanquetes". Did they change the name? Malaguenos were known as boquerones.

“Chanquetes” still appear on menus but they’re not real chanquetes as they’re no longer allowed to be fished.

I when I was young, I had a seafood paella in Valencia and was taken aback when the shrimp were whole! Now I prepare my own, as I don't like the idea of the poop sack not being removed. I still haven't sucked the head of a shrimp yet. Watch out for the clear needles you find in the seabass, bones aren't a problem. Spanish Mussels are my favorite seafood. As for Migas, the doctor can prescribe an ointment. (LOL).

Ahhhh........everyone has slightly high cholesterol!! Who cares!!! Just eat what you want and don't worry! I love those calamares fritos. Absolutely a classic tapa dish. That's not chicharones .... not the ones i know. It looks more like bacon or lomo slices.

These are ‘chicharrones de Cadiz’ very typical in Andalucia but not so much in other parts of Spain. The other type (common in Mexico and South America) are fried fat or rinds (more like the torreznos we tried at the same place).

Let's have it clear, we have sooo many tapas in Spain... but doesn't mean all of them are healthy. Actually, some ingredients are a bomb, as pork fat, or fried and greasy things with too much flour plus too much rich sauces. But in that ocean of tapas..., go and pick the most healthy ones, also delicious.

El Balneario has got to be the WORST place to eat in all of Spain! I've been there twice only my wife (she's Malagueña) and I, and once with the whole family and a couple from Nottingham. The service is horrible, mistakes in the orders, slow and, they have major problems with simple arithmetic adding up the bills. I also heard several locals complaining about things...

We are going to Malaga in two months. The food looks amazing but i doubt my 5 and 8 year old kids would muchbof it. I don't see any kids at this places. I should had left my kids at home lol. The food is also pricey it seem. How do the locals even eat at this places, isn't the minimum wage low? Most of the places in the video are prices like high end restaurants in the states.

The wine was flowing! We started with vermouth 😅 On a haul like that it would be mad not to have a few waters thrown in for good measure. However the focus of the video is very much about the food and people who don’t drink alcohol can enjoy the beach food scene as much as those who do 🙌

Unfortunately, Spanish food is underrated in the world, and both France and Italy do better marketing and their food is more considered. British food without being anything out of this world has the most famous celebrity chefs in the world. Marketing on TV is very important.

I have to say personally I find Spanish cuisine to be highly overrated and pretty expensive too but that’s probably because I am really not a seafood person and I prefer flavours from the east, who I believe have the best food in the world!
