Great video. Lived in La Costa for 12 years and I mountain bike ride all over the city and was wondering what your takes would be. Well organized video and covers a lot in a short time. One of the best things about living in Carlsbad is the trails. La Costa probably has the most, diverse trails. Bressi has some nicely maintained ones. North Carlsbad, the trails are mostly at Calavera, not all of them "legal," due to the State of California restricting access to most of them. People go on them anyway, but it ebbs and flows. Alga Norte's pool is so good, it's used for sectional championships annually. The whole park is amazing. However, Veteran's park will be a keystone park for the whole city. Finally, Carlsbad is really well run. They don't ticket for street sweepers, the police ticket for safety, not revenue, the city has a very well funded and effective homeless outreach program, and generally the city has a customer service attitude toward residents. The parks and trails system are amazing and there are a lot of free or very cheap city programs like kid's events, movie nights, senior classes, etc. It's like living on the set of the Truman Show. If I were to buy today, it'd probably be Aviara, it's beautiful and hard to beat that freeway access. Beware of Bressi: residents complain about airport noise a lot, the cell service is horrible (Verizon), and the streets are pretty cramped. The one drawback about La Costa is that some of the schools are in the San Marcos Unified School District, which gets problematic for special needs students and transportation, especially at San Elijo Middle and San Marcos High Schools.

Aviara was called the salt water flats. Before any structures were built. We use to ride r dirt bikes there.

Great restaurant- chipotle, Thai place with no specific name- “Peublo”(misspelled) -- Proves my point. Restaurants with rare exception are all very mediocre in SoCal because people here don’t really care about food
