Hot Ash Camping Gear: Wood Burning Rocket Stove - dont wanna see you, wanna see the stove
@timothyeubanks32100
@timothyeubanks32100 7 лет назад
Jesusandbible why? it's a complete waste of money. why not carry a stove that weighs a couple ounces instead of 3 pounds! if you want to cook over a fire, why not just use your damn campfire? nobody has ever given me a good reason to buy one of these stupid stoves. if you think this is a good investment, you're probably the type to also buy penis enlargement pills.
@TrinityHealth215
@TrinityHealth215 8 лет назад
I would spend a $140 on that hotash stove in a heartbeat. I know what s its like to be in a bad situation without a good stove and being completely out of fuel. If you backpack like me some things are priceless. (if you get lost as easy as I tend to do)

You could make you own Cinch-n-clinch easily with some chord and three sections of heat-shrink tubing.
@denelll.bennettsurvivorwar8224
I really like the HotAsh Stove. *But, I’d Rather Buy a BioLite Wood Stove instead: because a BioLite has A charger on the side that also controls the flame but gathers electricity from the fire to charge your phone or flashlight or whatever you need charging.*
@pudge9837
@pudge9837 8 лет назад
Not many people know that in a bad situation you can drink as much water as you want that is 99.99% clean. All you need is these items. A shovel , 2 ice cream buckets and a 10 ft. square piece of plastic. All you do is dig a hole that is 1 ft. deep by 9 ft. square and dig a smaller hole in the big hole in one of the corners so an ice cream bucket can fit into. THEN fill one of the ice cream buckets with nasty pond water or even sewer water . put the bucket in the corner hole. put the empty ice cream bucket in the center and put some leafy branches or plants around the center bucket. Put the plastic over the hole and put dirt on the edges. Push down a bit over the center bucket on plastic so the plastic sinks down a bit. In 10 minutes you have water dripping in your bucket. In 24 hours you have more than enough water for the whole next day. Works best if you put in full sunlight and near a pond. Enough water for 3 people in a day. It averages out to be a glass and a half an hour. REMEMBER , AND NEVER GO THIRSTY. Will work on Salt Water too.

The siesta 4 needs an inner expandable suport frame. Maybe 3D printed collapseble aluminum eye beams that open up and lock together that has rubber coating wete the tent fabric meets the eyebeams. No need for all those tie down strings along the outside and would give the tent more stability. 😊

i imagine my conversation with the bivvy guy going something like: "water proof? nah, just throw your rain jacket over it. nothing more comfortable than waking up after a cold and rainy nights sleep and putting on a soaking wet jacket, right? besides you won't even think about the wet jacket. you'll be too busy drying off all the gear you had to take out of the backpack to use the bivvy."

+Ty Guy Its kinda a bug bivy that needs a trap. It looks just like a climbers bivy from the 70's to me. I never used mine as the backpack portion is a pretty confined place for my size 12 puppies to stay all night. BTW...you can get bug bivvies from cottage manufacturers now that weight less that 8 ounces. I love mine from Borah Gear. Affordable too!

Item 1, the filter, seems like a great product. I can see that being useful in several situations. Items 2-6 really seem like they should be in a Ron Popeil late night infomercial with a "But Wait! If you order in the next 15 minutes we'll double your order at no product cost and only the additional shipping cost of $79.95 per item." The last one, the rocket stove, is a useful item but it's way to heavy to be a backpacking product.
@stormpilgrim7443
@stormpilgrim7443 8 лет назад

My other favourite was the rocket stove which requires to assembled from multiple parts, I mean to bit of box section made into a corner is well beyond the ability of the modern man. in response to the hot ash stove; since when is tailgating in the same category as camping? and also, its just a few pieces of metal. How would it stop working if all it does is sit there? also, a square isn't really an incredibly durable shape, that would be a triangle. and, regular campfires don't give off toxic emissions, there's no such thing as sideways fire, and smoke is beneficial to you when you're outdoors, so why get rid of it?

What is the obsession with water filters? From a hiking standpoint, fair enough. But for camping, is it not easier to buy a $10 milbank bag, or even cheaper to sow one yourself, and a pot for boiling. Filters are expensive, don't always work, and get clogged up after a few litres of dirty water.

J.J. Lemstra you're absolutely right. i did encounter virus warnings on the AT trail, but I got the new MSR pump. i own the bison bag. Bought it through Touch of Modern this past fall. Took it on a camping trip with a friend and wouldn't you know that piece of shit ripped along TWO seems. I take care of my things and did not just jump onto it or mistreat it in any way. I even eased into it when i was going to sleep. And full disclosure: i'm 5'7", 165 lbs

What happened? When I was a kid (~12 yrs old) I'd rope a couple wool blankets inside a tarp, grab some .30-06 ammo, rifle & bare cooking tools and a canteen. Load up my horse and ride off for a week or so. I bet with all the crap they sell them today they couldn't survive without prepackaged food and a nearby cell tower.

This is just an advertisement. Dear youtube, stop your blatant commercialization.
