Hi Jenny! it really was crazy, there were a few spots especially St. Magdalena, that in real life looks like it is animated, or like CGI - it just doesn't really look like a real place, it looks so perfect it looks fake... it's insane. And yeah, great questions - so we have loved Italy so far in our travels, and so this was our third trip as a couple and the last few times we have explored other areas of Northern Italy, but this has been on the list... also we knew that we needed to get to Chamonix, France about 8 days after we arrived for Megan to do a big hike (Mont Blanc) so we felt it would be best to stick around Northern Italy, and it was a perfect fit. We did about a week in Italy (together) and a week in France (separated)

Greetings from Oz and thanks for this it's brilliant. We're planning to be in Italy for a couple of weeks this time next year, and most of the time is on the west coast, so getting to the Dolomites is a bit challenging. I've been trying to work out how to get in and out in about 4 days, where to stay and this helps a lot. The Albergo (Gasthof Samont?) you stayed at is definitely hard to find, so if could you please tell me at least what town it was in and the street or address would be fantastic. 3D zooming around Langkofel it looks like it's close to Ortisei but I can't do better than that.
@JacksonMeyer

G'day! I appreciate the 'ripper' comment :) YOU. NEED TO GO HERE, I've skipped it the last few Italy trips... and it instantly became my favorite place in Italy. And love this, I'm glad you actually went looking and dropped yourself in the street, and yes, It's up by the St.-Jakobs-Kirche Chiesa di San Giacomo just outside of Ortesei, like if you look on Str. Sacun that leads up to it, it's right there. You can find it on booking dot com under the name: "Albergo Samont" Let me know if that helps and have a blast, cheers!

@JacksonMeyer
@JacksonMeyer 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for the kind comment and a great question. You have to register and take a short class for the rules in Europe and in Italy. The European rules are just a Little more strict about when and where you can fly, but by following the rules, everyone is happier!

Oh my goodness, I am so jealous! I cannot wait to go back, so we had a pretty full 6 full days in the area and were able to do all of these, but we stayed in ortesei for 3 days and then cortina d'ampezzo for 3 days and you would want to split up your time. I definitely would stay at family run hotels, NOT airbnb's, you get a more authentic experience. There are refugios everywhere, but I didn't stay in them so I cant speak to that. Have fun!

Hey bud! Really enjoyed this video! We are in the process of planning a trip to Italy, super excited! We also live in Portland. 😎 I am an armature videographer, and I am trying to learn how to take better time lapses. What do you use to capture such amazing shots? I have a Go pro that does pretty well, but the curvature is distracting and the resolution isn't great. Also are there any drone restrictions in the areas you traveled? Thanks!
@JacksonMeyer
@JacksonMeyer 3 месяца назад
Hey thanks! Glad you got some inspo from the viddy & that's crazy, PDX kids. All good questions, as far as drones go you need to register with EASA and yes there are areas (lago di braies) that prohibit drones... that footage was from my friend, many places are so out in the open and not many people that I never saw any signs about it and I checked places ahead of time. As far as timelapses go, make sure you max your ISO at 200, turn sharpness down, Bit rate high, and get rid of that curvature by going to linear or narrow view, avoid wide or superview if you are wanting no curves.

hey thanks for the video and tips! We are planning our trip in a couple of weeks to the Dolomites, I think we might also follow this trend of going to Cortina and then Ortisei, did you had problems moving around in the areas you visited with these Limted Traffic Zones, I mean with a car? I know for Alpe di Susi there is one for sure, but don't know about the other locations? Also for your visit to Alpe di Susi, did you take the cable car also from Ortisei? Thanks!
@JacksonMeyer
@JacksonMeyer 4 месяца назад
Hey! Thanks for watching and the great question, yeah so a car is definitely recommended for sure, but that is mostly to get to the trailhead, lots of hiking here. And yes, we took the cable car up to alpe di suisi. I think Ortesei and Cortina are a great couple of bases... you won't be bored with that, so much to do.

Hi Swathy, thankyou for the question! I believe there still may be some snow on the ground in May, but people will still be hiking. You can look up live cams to see the snow situation. Just booked a trip to here for late int he summer/fall! Sweet video! Quick question for you, I saw a lot of great drone footage in the video, I'm considering bringing a drone also. Were the drone laws there pretty easy to navigate? Any tips on figuring out where you can and can't get drone footage? Thanks!
@JacksonMeyer
@JacksonMeyer 4 месяца назад
You will not regret it, this region is my favorite in Italy. 🇮🇹 Yes, so you need to go to the easa website and register and get brushed up on Italian and European laws. It’s essentially just a bit more strict. When we went to pragser wildsee it was clear no drones were allowed so I used footage from a friend, I really try to abide my the law. Definitely brush up as much as you can, but because of how wild it was, it really seemed like most places were open.

@JacksonMeyer
@JacksonMeyer 2 месяца назад
To be honest, I have seen so much conflicting information! My guess is that is was fine up untill a few years ago, and now its not? I have no idea, I just know that there was a big sign at the lake that had all the things that aren't allowed and swimming wasn't on that board. That's the only context I got while I was on-site last summer. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but if you look it up on peoples blogs... like 50% of the people say you aren't allowed to and 50% say you are. I have no idea.
