In today's video, I go over the top 7 reasons no one understands INFP. These INFP personality traits are unique and can be an odd mix which leads to them being such a misunderstood personality type.
We all feel misunderstood at times, especially when it comes to our different personality types. If you're an INFP personality type, however, you've undoubtedly experienced a lot of this. Most of what INFPs think is hidden, at least until they get to know someone well. INFPs are introverts who can find it difficult to express themselves. Because their thinking differs significantly from that of many other types, they are frequently misunderstood. INFPs are sometimes aware of what is going on but have no idea how to change it. They are frequently caught off guard when they discover how others perceive them.

Success For Breakfast was created to be a channel that makes simple-to-follow videos giving you the tools to live your best life and help in your personal growth journey. There are a lot of little pieces that add up to the bigger “whole” picture of what you envision for your best life and what success looks like for you - so I am creating videos hitting on all of those subjects. From financial tips, relationships, and happiness to psychological tips, personal development, and even productivity advice. Brain food to give you the best possible chance to level up and love your life in all areas.
We all know that a strong mindset and good mental health is the key to success, and to taking control of your life, but there are many different ways to get there. It is not just motivation and affirmations, although those are important. For me, it was also about psychology, understanding myself, and knowing why I did things a certain way. It was also about meditating and learning about manifesting and the law of attraction, and of course how to be and stay motivated.
I hope you enjoy my channel and the videos but more importantly, find things that you can take action on and level up your life!

As an INFP I often feel that, although I have a lot of strong feelings and thoughts buzzing around my head, it’s better to just stay quiet. I don’t feel the need to voice my opinion most of the time. I just quietly observe the ppl around me. People tell me I’m shy, but I don’t see it that way. I just don’t need to be constantly talking.

Once an INFP gets the big epiphany of DETACHMENT, life improves outstandingly! Detachment from people’s opinion, energy, frustration, drama, closed minds and inauthenticity. We have a tendency to care too much for people, but sooner or later we figure out it’s not worth it. And after all, those people don’t give a f**k for us, so , why to bother?

@cory99998
@cory99998 Год назад
For me that detachment has taken form in not caring what others think about me when I express myself which allows me to be more expressive overall. It's easy to shy away in the art I create and not reveal myself out of fear of embarrassment, but that holds the artist back *immensely*. Detaching myself from the opinions of others on a core level rather than a logical level is what's helping me grow into the artist I've always wanted to be. Getting bullied for being a weird kid + not having a support structure at home that understands my inner world was a recipe for feeling rejected and embarrassed about myself long term which makes it unbelievably difficult to be expressive and revealing.

I am an INFP. Few years ago, I used to share my deepest thoughts and the things that makes me so happy. But even if they don't show it, I can feel they're not interested. I wanted to express my feelings but they don't seem to be interested in listening. And realizing that alone makes me feel so sad, it makes me ask "why is it so unfair? When they share something, i'm all ears. But when I share something, I feel like I am detached to them. I feel like I have a loud voice but they can't hear me."

Yes! This is exactly true. I hear a lot of advice for infp to open up and share more of your true inner self, but when I do nobody really wants to hear it. I don't think or feel like most people. I don't like the stupid small talk or superficial topics. I would love to open up to people more but it's hard to find people like me! I identify with the sentiments expressed in the preceding comments. 11:20 , I would suggest that others either don't have the capacity, or the will, to want to make the effort. And, because we are so tuned to this, and have the capacity for creative thought, it becomes incumbent upon us to use these skills to come up with innovative ways to get our ideas across, if we really want to be heard/understood. PS. can you see the INFP coming out. 😊

As an INFP I usually received comments that I'm weird, crazy, self-absorbed, and that my mind seems nowhere to be found at the moment oftentimes. Perhaps the reason I am perceive that way is that I don't share enough of myself to other people. I value my privacy, my solitude, I'm critical on my interpersonal behavior that's why my actions are quite reserved (?)

I’m an INFP and I think you got some good points there. There is another reason why I think we are misunderstood often as well: There don’t seam to be too many of us and since people tend to interpret others through their own glasses (or think others think in the same way they do), its hard to get that people could really be as we are. I.e. most people think of themselves before others, and they usually see a lie behind a person who would rather take the smaller peace of cake so another would not feel left out… Hope this is understandable.

I'm an INFP, I relate to this a lot, I'd much rather be lost in my own thoughts while reading a book or making scenarios up in my mind, or going out on a hike. Often I like to contemplate places and see the beauty in things like a landscape, old barn or a forest etc. I find that structure, order, and routines make life very stressful, not because 'I cant be bothered rather because I see harmony and fulfilment in meaning as of greater importance, though sometimes I have to suck it up of course when it comes to my responsibilities ( I understand these things are essential). And its very true what I see as important is very different to the norms. Life for me is fulfilling when I'm appreciating beauty, or meaning in something, or hidden meaning. I suppose I like to appreciate everything that has some spiritual or artistic meaning which may make me look naïve and easy going, but id call it more naïve to live for what is socially acceptable at the expense of fulfilment as a lot of beauty, wisdom, truth and hidden meaning is brushed over by prejudice. It is very true I loathe dis-harmony and would hate to cause someone pain. It really annoys me when people ignore someone's values and treat them as if there ignorant It ruins peoples self confidence (over a light comment), and I know from experience that that is really damaging to ones mental health. I have my own biblical values so I lovingly challenge other peoples values but I find it distasteful when people mock timid people (all it shows to me is that there loud, and the victim is mature and rational enough not to mock back). People may perceive this as arrogant that is not so I am just explaining how my mind works. I have to make people understand that what I'm saying about being misunderstood is not to be misunderstood under a comment section asking whether I feel misunderstood (; Perhaps I am misunderstood...

I'm an INFP and a middle child. I consider that a double whammy. I have been pleasing people, keeping the peace and I have failed to express my feelings in key moments. The main problem is that far too many people are incapable of handling the complexities of an INFP's mind. I, as an INFP, have made the experience that when I arrive at a conclusion, people have great difficulties understanding how I have arrived there, and since it involves multiple steps at once that sometimes are spliced into one another, explaining things is so extremely difficult and exhausting. Add bonus points once people lose track of what you are attempting to tell them, thereby forcing you to repeat yourself. At the end it usually leaves me completely exhausted and thoroughly frustrated. On other occasions people see an INFP pull off a feat and want to do so likewise, but they inevitably fail, because they don't know what amount of processing has been taken place in the INFP's head prior to that. However, instead of inquiring how to get that done, they oftentimes get miffed and start shaming the INFP.
@Robidu1973
@Robidu1973 Год назад
@@more444store6 The fun part of all this, however, starts when they are about to do something stupid and you, as an INFP, have that eerie feeling that that isn't going to end well. So the INFP is going to tell them something along the line of "If I were you, I wouldn't do that." Of course, they are going to dismiss that, especially since we cannot back that up with hard facts at that moment (pulling them from our background processes is rather long-winded and as such a complete pain in the butt), yet that peculiar feeling remains. However, then watch their surprised Pikachu faces when things actually start to go south. The standard reaction from the INFP: "Told you."
@melilotus
@melilotus Год назад
Are you perhaps trying to say that we tend to think of, for example, a situation from multiple angles and points of view, that others simply cannot grasp it, plus it's hard to even translate our vision of this situation, because it's so complex, and sometimes these different angles are even in some sort of contradiction? I don't know if you get me, but it happens to me all the time. Plus, i see and understand a certain situation in my head, let's say, intuitively, but if I try to organize it into thoughts, or (even worse 😂) words, it's sometimes mission impossible 😂😂

My ex-wife used to tell me that I need to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I have always lived in my own "fantasy world" where everything is great. As an extreme optimist, it took me years to finally get feet on the ground and head out of the clouds. It made me more cynical and I do not like that. After my divorce I learned more about who I really am as an INFP and I have embraced it and am at peace. I started writing poetry. I learned that I can express myself that way. I met a wonderful friend and we had lots in common. I wrote her a poem to express how I felt and it was too much. This video is spot on as far as INFP's being misunderstood.

I fell in love with astronomy as a kid. Space is so unfathomably big and our knowledge so limited that the possibilities are endless. I often daydreamed about exploring the stars in a cool ship as a kid. Back then I thought I was just bored and space was obviously better than school right? Now I’m 25 and going through the process of learning myself and I noticed something. For one, my imagination is just as colorful as it was as a child. However, the most important thing I realized was that I loved space so much because it felt so familiar. Space is such a beautiful yet lonely place. Stars shine ever so brightly, unaware that billions of miles away, potentially countless life forms marvel at their splendor, eternally grateful for their warmth and light. Every step of my life I’ve felt as if I was different in a way that I couldn’t explain, almost like I’m not from this world. The difficulty of expressing/explaining the complex thoughts and emotions in my head doesn’t help and it can create a sense of distance between myself and everyone else. When I contemplate this, I can’t help but think of how the sun can seem so close as to blind and burn you, almost like you can touch it. Yet, it’s 93 million miles away.

True. in the last 10 years, I have done at least 20 times the interview for someone of the "Big 5" (Google, FB and so on). I know i have good skills for the job. I am resourceful (in spite of being studied literature i have been able to pursue a career in IT), i speak several languages at a very good level, I am resilient, I am a very good person when it comes to support and help, i am devoted, i have years of experience (and some times i know in depth the product itself i am interviewing for). I almost always reach the last round, but I always got rejected because when you interview for one of those company they want you to show your cool and extrovert side - and maybe a bit structured (funny because you HAVE to write on your CV that you are an "out of the box" thinker, but then they don't want to hear that in the interviews). You have to be able to "sell" yourself, and i am totally not the kind of people that brags about his own good sides, or who is able to "lie" or be someone he is not. Many times in several interview have been told that the "level of energy is low", just because I speak slowly (and if i am nervous I start stuttering or forget the words). I am also not too comfortable in speaking, while I am better in writing (i need my time to think and structure my thoughts, and i prefer writing longer but more "reasoned" text, that an impactful tweet that is void of real meaning. I honestly think that this is a bit a shame, especially when it comes to big companies that always brag about inclusion and diversity, but have a hiring system that de facto is designed to disadvantage people like us, diversity is also this. Also this world focused on image and showing off doesn't help. Even if it will probably be too late for me, I hope that one day there will be more awareness (as there is for skin colors and body types) about this different in characters, hopefully more and more introvert people will get visibility, and our peculiar character will not be seen like a handicap but a resource.
@melilotus
@melilotus Год назад
Yeah, I totally get this "selling" part, because I cannot even imagine to tell something about myself that is not true, at least in these situations. I give people precise information of my capabilities (I'm even pretty harsh sometimes), but people mistake that for my incapacity for a certain task or job or activity, while far more incapable folks will advertise themselves and sell the story of how great they are for this or that...
@AriodanteITA
@AriodanteITA Год назад
@@melilotus People also made me noticed (last week I was practicing with an interview) that I have some uncommon trait, or i'm able to do/see things that other people are not able to see, but i don't realize it. To me it's totaly normal. When in the interviews they ask me "tell me about a time when...you dealt with a difficult customer/ showed leadership" or things like that... I struggle to find examples because to me it's so normal that I don't even realize i'm handling difficult situations. Also because I keep very low my emotion and it's almost impossible to make me lose my temper and my cold blood. Which is a quality very useful in many circumstances. I do that all that without realizing. And yes, i can't lie. In the good and in the bad, i never lie. If I don't like you, or don't trust you, whether I avoid to answer, or if I answer i can't help but telling the truth. And this is not always a good thing.

I give up trying to look mature and make my self okay to be mocked laughed and underestimated. Losing childishness can be depressing. It's our strength. Let s hope nobody cross the line and have the chance to see the hell ^^. INFP-A

It's said that all teenagers feel missunderstood but I can tell I felt so misunderstood that I learned not to talk about my opinions at all. If I do I realize most people don't listen. For a long time I was deeply desperate and didn't know why Noone understands me until I analyzed myself enough to learn that it is me who Is not able to communicate the complexity of my inner self. So, whenever I say something upsetting or I am strict or whatever I explain to others why I was like that. Mostly it's because I am stressed or because I see potential in others and get frustrated they don't see it and use their skill, just working a bit on themselves. I work hard on myself and though I let others live I really get frustrated about people not putting any energy in development their talents. There's so much more to say but I don't want to overdo it

I labeled myself as shy or introverted all my life but it’s not like that, i am not shy i’m just afraid everyone is gonna reject my true self, i am literally the opposite of shy but, when i let myself be, people tend to be scared off or think i’m “too much” or they just don’t understand my perpective at all. When i’m around people i really like, i’m extra shy and end up with them not taking me serious, but, when i’m around people i dislike, i feel like i can be myself because i rejected them before they can reject me, it’s an ongoing cicle & i don’t know how to end it.

Having been told more than once lately that im not an introvert and saying to them, you've got to be kidding, I'm only just beginning to understand that what I think and what people see are two completely different things. This explains me almost perfectly. I'm also ADHD so at work I'm quite noisey, dim lights are only before bedtime, and I spend most of my spare time reading after wearing off some energy in the gym❤️❤️❤️

im an infp who spent many years using my dark side to maintain a mask of who i truly was not. we are sensitive individuals and many see this as a weakness or as too intense when its a definite strength. its hard to put into words exactly how we feel at certain moments. sometimes the feels are so powerful that words just arent enough.

If you learn to manage/not getting rid of your emotions/wield not getting rid of taking life(creations culture) personally, this being personal is a great gift - - in taking personal responsibility/being personal - - - in being warm hearted not cold and impersonal, life is hugely personal and knowing this and living this makes the world a realer healthier world, not being tough and living in the great moxie of your softest softness creates a working dynamic for yourself where ever you are, managing your uniqueness from the inside makes life great, I used to feel misunderstood but the more I understand myself and value myself the better I feel/I didn't get bitter and the misunderstood feeling has vanished , INFPs loving the gift of living in this wonderful way with their own understanding of themselves gives you a great/beautiful saga feel reality,Im almost 61 and lived in an emotional break down of sorts for 55 years until I got away from judgmental troubled souls and begain living and valuing my unique creational way of living/ant it took loosing all but one person that I loved and living alone /almost completely unsupported /lost my home my dream gardens animal friends income and 30 year deception marriage and was ostracized severely by family and still am, I love my life and three new INFP friends helped me getting free inside from a disadvantaged childhood and ensuing dysfunctional family unhealthy un/healing entanglements!

Half done but I don't feel this video explains why the outside doesn't match the inside: social conditioning. INFP quiet is socially acceptable compared to an INFP living outloud. Inflexible and arrogant? Wow, I've never had anyone describe me that way or react to me that way. As a manager, I don't like creating rules unless I have to, and if my group needs a way of organizing something, I prefer to let the group decide on their own solution. If there's conflict over it, of course I step in and make a decision, once I fully understand what's wrong, and also what was good about their idea. Hmm. I'm near the middle on the I vs E scale, as well as the F vs T scale. Maybe that means I'm not a typical INFP.

I'm a INFP and Ive been misunderstood alot in my life. Its always been hard to express my feelings because I don't even know where to start I'm a good listener and I hold alot of people secrets that only I know about them. I express myself through music ive played guitar 33 out of my 49 years and I have to have my alone time people in my hometown call me the mystical unicorn rarely seen but always talked about. It's not easy being a INFP but I wouldn't want to be anything else. I love being a mystery for other to wonder about back in school I would do things differently than others and make it a better way of thinking about how something could be done I always did things my way I was a nonconformist my teachers would call me Maverick I didn't know why they called me that my name is Clifford. One day I was reading another hobby of mine and seen what a Maverick was its a title and I can say I'm a mysterious childlike nonconformist misunderstood musician and maverick. Jesus said to understand the kingdom of God you must be childlike not childish but childlike and I can say I understand what Jesus is saying. To all of my kind us INFPs keep your head up and love yourself because you are someone who has something to offer to the world and that is to help heal the wounds of hurt and lost people and help them see the light.

Well when I as am INFP was growing up your emotions feel totally out of control, like feral animals, that pour out without any control. And you learn and realize that you must hide these emotions even though you feel them deeply. And people don't see your emotions, your care and consideration, but you realize that it's a self-defense mechanism. In regard to our depth, or lack of words, the reason why we appear quiet, is because we are busy thinking. No one ever asks us how we truly think or feel, and no one goes through the time or depth to allow us to express all our thoughts and contradictory feelings. And so it's better sometimes to think about it and to imagine something within the confines our mind then share what we have gone through just for someone to critique or shit on it. That's why INFPs appear within drawn because we don't want something dirtying something so pure in our mind.

Dear INFPs, Don’t assume people will read your mind or your nonverbal signals. If you don’t speak up and let people know, they will not know what you want or don’t want. Lack of communication on your side is mostly why you are misunderstood, not because others want to misunderstand you. I had two people in my family who are constantly in a victim mind set and it took over 10 years to make them understand that you need to communicate, as people are not mind readers. You are not a victim.
