I enjoy this guy, you to randy obviously that's why I keep coming back but he sounds like he actually appreciates what distilleries are doing and called that Frey ranch being a four grain! Love seeing some of these old videos giving me info/insight on things I do not know being about a year into my whiskey experience! Thank you!!

There are a few distilleries that have my interest peaked this year. 1. New Riff 2. Leopold Bros. 3. Frey Ranch Of course, Jack Daniels will always be on my list!
Frey Ranch is readily available in California, where I live. Their bourbon and rye are great. The next time I visit relatives in northern California, I'll see if I can take a side trip to the distillery, where they will hopefully have some special releases. Sagamore is also a favorite of mine. Small quantities of their own distillate have come out in the last couple years as a bottled-in-bond release. This isn't easy to find, but I got lucky and stumbled onto a bottle. I can confirm that it is just as good as the contract distilled stuff, and I think they have a bright future as they switch over to their own distillate. Prideful Goat is good too - the cask strength rye is in my collection. It's a very nice bottle of firewater that has enough flavor to balance out the burn. Jack Daniel's has been strong lately, but unfortunately, many of their special releases are unobtainable. Also, I have to agree with your guest - pick up a bottle of Craigellachie. It is an old school, flavorful single malt with a bit of funk to it. It has a lot more character than most of the big brands that are found in every bar and restaurant.
Love the Frey Ranch brand. Tried both the yellow and black label bottles. Both very grain forward with amazing depth. I prefer yellow lower proof over the black uncut at 122 proof that requires at least 2 big ice cubes. Thanks Randy for all your hard work.
I’m going to try and be very cautious with my spending this year. Gonna try to buy very minimal new bottles this year. Gonna try and work through my own collection. Cheers
Nice show! I’m in California and Frey Ranch is all over in our stores! The standard and the uncut cask strength are really nice! Haven’t had any Penelope yet, Jack Daniels Special Releases are great and I’m buying any I see! Russell’s single barrels and the Rickhouse are some of my favorites! Sagamore Spirits are all awesome! Can’t comment on the Prideful Goat yet, I’m supposed to get my 6yr rye and rum finished rye today and I’m waiting by the mail box:)!!! Cheers!
More Saga!! Love that juice...also quite interested in Frey Ranch (never tried so next trip to Texas gotta get some) and...those Prideful Goat variations sound quite intriguing.
Definitely need to try the Penelope Rio and need to pick up that Prideful Goat 8 Year. I’ve heard great things about both. Thanks for the info and consistently great content!
What a collection! I’ve been really curious about the Prideful Goat releases but they’re a little steep when considering that I would also need it to be shipped. I sure appreciate any attempt to get out something under $50.
I’m very excited to try Frey Ranch. I’ve heard so many good things about them. And still trying to track down a bottle of Thirteenth Colony. Would love to see what the hype is about
Always watching what Jack will come out with next. Randy, how do you pick which bottle you are going to drink when not doing a show. I’d have a hard time picking with that many options.
Looking forward to finding a bottle of the 13th Colony DO on their next release to see what the hype is all about. Also excited to try a Frey Ranch offering for the first time.
Would love to try the Frey Ranch and 13 colony Beside those the Jack Daniel and Russell rickhouse because that one is out of price range. Love the video
I'm most excited to try the 13DO. I'm literally driving home with a Sagamore store pick right now. And I've really been wanting to try Frey Ranch. My local store has a cask strength farm cut that I keep passing on. I should just get it.
100% agree with regard to 13th Colony. I've only had their small batch, but it has the same labeling issues - and they don't even openly claim to distill their own vodka, meaning that is almost certainly sourced, too. But here's the thing - I rather like their small batch bourbon. It's reasonably good stuff. It is young and has a simple (butterscotch + high-rye) nose and palate, but it doesn't taste "crafty" to me. It is similar to MGP's 36% "high-rye" bourbon - similar to regular George Remus, I think, and I'm going to assume that's what it is until I learn differently. I cannot fathom why 13th Colony would shy away from naming their source and emphasizing the effect of Americus' atmosphere on the final aging leg of the bourbon's life. Or they can tout their blending skills, which clearly are solid. The product speaks for itself and the controversy hurts them more than the free publicity it generates helps them, IMO.
I’m looking forward to getting some new Prideful Goat as the other stuff has been really good. As far as Jack Daniel’s stuff, the mark up here in Southern California is insane so I won’t even look or hunt for it. I’ll just stick to their standard single barrel stuff.
The goat scream in your commercial makes me laugh every time. Thanks for the heads up on the other whiskeys. Really looking forward to the Sagamore stuff.
Love to be able to tries anything you showcase. Quick question, new to the bourbon/whiskey game. What would you or your followers consider a reasonable collection number without over doing it to be considered hoarding? I know this said number may be different for anyone’s individual circumstance, just curious to hear people’s thoughts. Thanks. ❤
Great video!! I have a sagamore pick thanks to you and love it, and have also sampled some Prideful Goat and thought it was great! Have not had the pleasure of trying the others.
Great Video! Love the content and keep it up. I'm curious to see what all the hype is on the 13th colony.. refuse to pay the ridiculous secondary prices on it but would love to eventually try it!
