"This weapon starts out as a simple Greatsword you could find from any of the Dark Souls games... ...but transforms into a moonlight Greatsword which you could also find in any of the Dark Souls games."
Call back to Otogi sword. Less talked about from game with moonlight sword in it before Souls. Same feel or idea of souls. The sword is so powerful it one shots any boss or enemy at cost of you having 1 hp Lol
i love how bloodborne is like "here dude have a straightsword, pretty nifty right? oh hey and also you can stab it into a hunk of rock to have a bigass hammer if u want, just saying"
@@calebcancian9321 Same, although i think it's probably not the best in terms of balance. If i remember correctly, it doesn't do much or any more damage then the sword form. Only staggers more.
@@seapirate5323 Bloodborne came out before Dark Souls 3 and then most of the weapons were almost all the same with some exceptions but Bloodborne made the weapons more unique and fancy
@@jonathansenile4396 A matter of taste 😀. It seemed to me too long with boring fights. Absolutely not impressed compared to the previous games .. Bloodborne is the best!
man bloodborne is the game that gives you the best weapon at the start of thr game and you'll mainly use that weapon till the end of the game... *COUGH* saw cleaver
I mean, the first dark souls let's you get the zweihander at the start too, and if you were good at the game(or watched some tutorials) you could get the gravelord greatsword at the start as well
I don’t comment with critiques on many videos because people having the courage to make a video and put out content to help and/or entertain others earns a certain amount of respect but... I have to say that your video has a strangely satisfying flow/composition to it. It is just very well done for a text overlay style video. A lot of times it feels like a person making a video just enjoys hearing themselves talk but your video manages to be both humble and yet make you look knowledgeable and skilled while still showing your slight personal bias towards and against certain weapons. Anyway not that my opinion matters at all but I found your video to possibly be one of the best tutorial/opinion videos on a video game I’ve ever watched. Well done.
I did this just for fun back then,, when literally no one except like 1 or 2 friends watched, I do not look back fondly on the video at all, it's poorly edited... That being said, I'm happy you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words :)
eh, used it to an exhaustion in BL 4 runs, but yeah it's a beast. Made this a while ago though, I think now I'd add Beasthunter Saif, Chikage and probably place Burial Blade much higher. But then again I wouldn't want to remove any from this list. Too many good weapons!
saw cleaver is like everyone's final weapon lol saif is beast and i prefer chikage on normal enemies not in bosses that much, unless i do a chikage run only lol
+Vemrathin NA i was responding to the comments about burial blades ,however, i cant lie saw cleaver does have that natural stun and does a shit ton of damage, but if you really want kickass damage u need to get uncanny or lost saw cleaver n go to the dungeons n farm sum 22+ phys dam bloodgems... also if we're talking PvP I'd rather go mercy blades or Ludwig's holy blade just becuz I'm use to the play style and if you get uncanny mercy blades u an equip better bloodgems to it and it becomes OP as fuck
start of the game it's super weak and doesn't get powerful until the later rounds of the game, so it's easy to just give up on it before you see it's true potential
This is what I love about this game, a lot of great weapons its so difficult to decide what to use. Even if the Saw Cleaver and Whirligig Saw are the two top weapons, the other weapons are so fun. A true masterpiece.
Good list, you managed to keep it engaging while not rushing past anything, plus you did a pretty good job of trying not to piss people off. That's obviously unavoidable, but you didn't attack anyone else's choices and I respect that. Great video.
Everyone makes mistakes, and any time you look back on something you made you'll think of all the ways you could've done it better and changed it. Just be glad that this was a good video, and any changes you might want to make now are superficial. You did good work, leave it at that.
See i disagree completely... Im new to the whole 'Souls' genre of gaming, because i can just NEVER get into any game like that... But Bloodborne is free on PS Plus this month, and so i thought, why the fuck not lmao. Goddamn is this game challenging when you dont know what youre doing, i died so Many times before figuring out things like sprinting, and leveling up with the blood echoes i get... Well obviously i got past that hurdle cause now im looking up 'top weapons' guides to learn what are statistically the best 2 weapons in the game, so i csn have them equipped at all times (once im able to acquire them if im not far enough in the game of course)... Well i watched number 8 no problem, and then it comes to number 7, and i start reading the text on screen and it says 'its got alright damage when transformed, but thats not why this one is my FAVORITE' and it kind of struck me as a little odd is all.... I thought this was an actual top weapons in bloodborne guide, when in reality its just his favorite weapons in the game... The title could have easily been changed to 'MY top 8 weapons in Bloodborne' because that would make it the truth, whereas the way it is, is clickbait so we can watch and find out only what the creators favorites are... Like i have no problem in the world with this creator or their videos or even how the title or commentate said videos, but, just as a point of advice, if youre making a video about a game and its not a statistically factual list that you make, just put MY at the beginning of the title, as to Not draw in viewers that are looking for the ACTUAL best weapons in the game. No harm no foul though, i highly doubt this will even be read lmao.
Magicat i should have just stayed quiet lol. While i still firmly believe these probably still arent the actual top 8 weapons in the game, i will still give the video a like and move on, because it did give me some good information, and so i do thank you for that. That Whirligig Saw looks fucking epic lmao.
Seth Kauffman You're wrong, some of them are really really good, specially the number 1 (pve related ofc) I also have never played Bloodborne (god bless PS plus) but I ain't new to the Souls series, however you can't just call the best weapon of the game, because there are a lot of things that can influence a weapon, such as utility, move set, scaling, if they're good for pve or pvp, lore (some people just go with that) and usefulness or quality (both pve or pvp in this case) or even personal taste like design, sound effects etc. So it is quite wrong to throw this video like a clickbait bc it is not, such previous points make it hard to pint point a top. Of course some are top tier and it all comes to an agreement that the weapon is good or broken but if you want to see a video that is unbiased then you'll never find it. However if you want to see a more "serious" video I recommend you visit PvPSkills channel he's a cool guy and knows his shit. But Keep in mind that everybody is going to be subjectiv on this topic. Good luck on your Hunt, and may you find your worth in the waking world
When my sister saw me playing this game for the first time, her first reaction to me getting mauled by a lycanthrope was “you can’t possibly have anywhere near that much blood in your body!” To which I said “I KNOW, RIGHT!?”
Top 8 bloodborne problem solvers 1. Kirkhammer 2. Kirkhammer 3. Kirkhammer 4. Kirkhammer 5. Hunter axe- just kidding Kirkhammer 6. Kirkhammer 7. Kirkhammer 8. And last but certainly not least moonlight greatsword
Meh I'd rather use tricked Ludwig's if I want a weapon with good stagger. Or tricked Beastcutter. Ludwig's doesn't require sweet spotting, has better crowd control attacks, a much better charge R2, and the 1h straight sword of Ludwig's is objectively just a better version of the Kirkhammer's straight sword.
Just google image "bloodborne trick weapon"... Seeing that many different cool ideas for new weapons just makes me die inside. People have said Bloodborne doesn't need a sequel... BUT WE DO!!
people (myself included) don't want a squeal because it means it would most likely be PS4 exclusive. I've been playing bloodbourne recently using my uncle's PS4, and I'll probably get one eventually myself, but I would much rather play these games on PC. I noticed a lot of stuttering on PS4 and I never see that sort of thing when playing any of the Dark souls games on PC. It doesn't look anywhere near as fluid.
MrLolMachine i dont want a sequel because exclusives suck, especially console exclusives. Stuttering is an issue in a game as fast paced as this. Id also hesitate to call this a masterpiece. The original dark souls maybe, but bloodbourne's level/world design is kind of a mess imo.
Nice to see a list that isn’t solely about PVP. I started out using the bow blade and chikage with my skill/bloodtinge build. But half the time I end up switching between the burial and rakuyo since they’re so damn fun. I also miss my pizza cutter in my quality build.
I agree with you on the moonlight greatsword being well done in bloodborne cause the others just stayed the same but this time it feels more unique when it transforms it actually feels like your hand is harnessing the power of the moon
My favorite will always be the boom hammer. It's a pity more people don't use it, I swear I never see anyone who does. I bought the game with the dlc at the same time and did suicide runs in the hunters nightmare for two hours to get the weapons, and the boom hammer just stuck out among the rest. It had a viscious weight behind every blow, every attack in its admittedly short moveset served a purpose, and I can't begin to explain how great it felt to light up the hammer and deliver a charged R2 that would *send enemise flying*. The slow swings made the weapon near-cinematic to use, as I had time to process every hit I delivered, and just the way I would run towards a boss, hitting L1 and preparing for my next strike, was that kind of little detail that made my enjoyment for the game that much higher. For not to mention, it's a weapon that always let me use guns, which are my favorite type of weapons in bloodborne. That way the weapon is designed around bloodborne's more unique parrying mechanics, making it feel more logical for my hunter to use that sort of weapon, as well as making the combat feel less like dark souls.
Unpopular pick for my favorite but I seem to really enjoy the threaded cane. It was my first starting weapon pick when i first picked up BB and I really enjoyed it up until I got the kirkhammer then I had gotten a new favorite weapon. But the kirkhammer doesn't have that spot in my heart like the threaded cane does.
Me too. I played with the Axe all the game until I broke it in the middle of the optional mission of the Castle of Cainhurst and I used the blades of mercy (BTW, that's a good weapon when you have it upgraded).
@@metalheadblues Hi! You can repair it. I was not careful enough and the enemies were hard as hell. Until I found a rest place, I need to use the other weapon.
Those are all amazing weapons as usual, but personal preference Id keep most except BoM and rakuyo probably add to my list the beast cutter and boom hammer but that'd just me, great vid
Haven’t been playing BB long enough, but as far as the weapons I got my favorite so far has got to be the cane. Something about a cane that turns into a whip feels very.... satisfying.
My favorite would have to be the Beast Claws (with Beast's Embrace Rune). There's just something I love about the speed and feral aggression they have in spades. The built in Beasthood means bosses go down fast, too. And that two-handed jumping attack is just beautiful. Though the Burial Blade, Blades of Mercy, Beasthunter Saif, and Church Pick are also very good friends of mine.
My weapons I main are Holy Moonlight Sword and Whirligig Saw, my favorite being the former. I’m glad you pointed out some of the under appreciated weapons in the game like the church pick. Here’s to hoping I see more unique players and not so many Ludwig’s Holy Blade scrub lords that linger even today.
Not surprised there’s no love for the beast cutter but it’s quickly become a fun weapon. The stagger is insane on it against mobs and the damage is good enough despite it being all blunt all the time
Great video! :D My personal list is; 1. Rakuyo (cause it's OP af) 2. Church Pick 3. Blades of Mercy 4. Simon's Bowblade 5. Burial Blade 6. Chikage 7. Holy Moonlight Greatsword 8. Hunter Axe
I feel like everyone uses the tonitrus. It’s called the boss killer for a reason, most play throughs recommend it! Reason why I used it before I went to the OG cleaver
fun fact: the church pick, reiterpallasch and, to a lesser extent, the rakuyo feel so OP because not just kin is weak to thrust attacks, EVERY enemy in the game is either neutral or weak to it, with the majority of them being weak to it to a certain degree, not a single enemy type resists thrust. so that basically means with a weapon that deals mainly thrust damage (hint: the transformed church pick and transformed reiterpallasch deal exclusively thrust damage) a vast majority of the games enemies are gonna take a lot more damage than what the AR of the weapon would imply.
Don’t even remember leaving this comment! Never would have imagined this many likes. Doing another playthrough right now, and though the big blue magic sword will never be replaced, the wheel is hilariously fun
I'm interested in that weapon as it runs through Old Yharnam so easily but I don't feel comfortable using it in other situations like big enemies or npc hunters. Is there a good way to use its transformed mode?
When I saw the title for this video and it's format I thought it was going to be bad, like those lists that have Ludwig's, Saw Cleaver and the Kirkhammer at # 1,2, and 3, but this is such an awesome list. I didn't even know that the Church Pick was a good weapon but I can't wait until I try it now. Thanks a lot man! Subscribed
You are one of the reasons I got my love for this game!❤ Years later I still haven't forgotten how thrilled I was for BB seeing its astethics, its wonderful lovecraftian assets and the action pack you just showcased here! Good stuff, fellow hunter!
The Bloodletter and the Holy Moonlight sword are by far my favorites in the game, i have my Mercy Blades just in case of an emergency against some creatures or bosses, but that Whirligig Saw, i’ll be damned, the damage, the range, it’s the perfect boss killer
My favorite weapon is Threaded Cane even when I wanted to replace it with other Skill weapons I find it too balanced to put down. On my first play through I tend to beat bosses the first time fighting them with it.
Great list! Beat the game the first time with the threaded cane and saw spear. Doing a new play through and now using the church pick as my first ever +10 weapon
One thing I have to admit, even though I've always loved flashy combos and freestyle stuff like the air cancel attacks in the DMC series, no other game has made me feel like a complete badass like this game when my dodges and parrys are on point. Beating a large amount of enemies without receiving a single hit it's the most satisfying thing in any videogame I've experienced.
I like your list. I think though you should have given honorable mention to Saw Cleaver the most versatile weapon in my opinion and also Ludwig Blade which hits like a truck. But like I said I do like your list don't have any thing I would disagree with for sure 👍
i love how the game made so much different play styles. I mean im sure that we can talk about at least 15 different top 10's or smthng. Bc ever weapon is actually unique with their style and adv-dis. i personally love the hunter axe. Also logarius wheel is very op if u can use it. But its too overused for me.
Nice video dude! I love whirligig saw, but with the best gems the most satisfying weapon for me is the threaded cane. You know making a bad weapon something serious is amazing :D
Oh I've seen that in pvp, thinking "lol what a scrub, brings threaded cane against my giant saw hammer!" and then they proceeded to flog me to death in 5 seconds without taking a single scratch.
Vituco that thing is my personal favorite starter weapon, my weapon of choice with NG6, and one of the most underrated weapons in pvp in my opinion haha
Mitchell Turner Just returned to bloodborne after 2 years, and after looking through all the weapons on the wiki the beast cutter is just looking like the sickest shit to me this time around.
I have noticed that the Beast Cutter is a favorite among speedruners of Bloodborn thanks to its non-tranformed charge attack that let's you glitch through some parts of the geometry and skip parts of the game... I may have tried speedruning Bloodborn before. Spoiler alert: It didn't go well. XD
I’ve always been partial to the rifle spear. Just something so satisfying about executing a flawless r1 combo, jumping back, smoothly transitioning into rifle mode, then finishing with a visceral attack
I like the Hunter Axe. It's versatile and does good damage at a decent speed that also tranforms into a halbred that I can spin2win on crowds or if I'm trying to keep some distance.
I 100% agree with you about the Church Pick. Very under rated wepon. And the Bowblade as well. I have those two wepons equipped at all times with the Church Pick being my main wepon of choice.
I agree on the whirligig saw being the number 1 weapon, i literally use it against any boss and i killed orphan of kos 2nd try with it, so i love it sooo much, crazy range, and amazing damage output. Such a beast. Thanks for the video :D
Surprised that LHB isn't on the list. Also surprised that the Burial Blade wasn't higher due to having the best moveset in the game, but the inability to buff it would cause problems for some.
Excellent video, thanks! I'm not gud and gave up years ago after maybe 2 or 3 bosses, but I'm considering starting over when I get a PS5, and I want to try something other than the saw cleaver, which is what I chose last time. Audio commentary would have been better. I was either watching your footage and having to go back to read the text, or vice-versa. It would be nice to relax and watch the slaughter while hearing the deets of the weapons. Regardless, a great and helpful video. 👍
Easily one of Bloodborne's best qualities over Dark Souls is the absolutely ridiculous weapon variety, which in itself massively boosts the game's replayability; literally like 75% of the game's weapons are found in the last quarter or in The Old Hunters so monstrosities like the Burial Blade or the motherf***ing Whirligig Saw justify repeat playthroughs all by themselves
75% of the game's weapons are found closer to the first quarter of the game. I just finished the game and the majority of the weapons were at the beginning. There were only like two towards the end. I also don't think there are that many weapons in the main bloodborne game. Half of the weapons come from the DLC, so the original game alone doesn't have that huge of a variety. Including the DLC it does have a lot of variety, but only with it.
@@dankfailure4984 It is physically impossible to get the Burial Blade before Rom. You have to beat Rom then, at the end, kill Gherman, which gives you the Old Hunters Badge. Unless, you are talking about NG+, which in that case, it isn't your first playthrough. Unless, you are talking about the alternate versions of the weapon found in the Depth 5 chalice dungeons(Lower Loran & Pthumerian Ithyll). In that case, then maybe so. Still doubt it.
MaxwellGodd ' got it in a chalice after defeating the three shadow guys and my friend told me how to get it using a chalice dungeon code and it was annoying to get because everything could 2 shot me and there was a sinister bell woman summoning spiders
MaxwellGodd ' also I could have gotten it earlier but I didn’t know about it until later since you can get it right after you kill the blood staved beast
Splendid video I must say, my top 8 would be: 8: Logarius wheel 7: burial blade (which I prefer calling "scythe") 6: whirling saw 5: Blades of mercy (very good against all bosses except BSB) 4: Chikage 3: moonlight blade 2: tonitrus (excellent against all bosses and most enemies) 1: threaded cane (best starter weapon too)
Man I gotta get back into bloodborn i played it 2 years ago when i was 12 and i did not understand how good the game was but now that I've seen THESE COOL SOB WEAPONS you inspired me
I've always been fond of the kirkhammer. Completed the game 4 times with it, including chalice dungeons and the platinum trophy. It's just so satisfying hammering my way around with it!
I finally got to playing and beating the game a little while ago, and didn't really bother even buying the Kirkhammer as it didn't seem to fit my style. I just did my second playthrough and figured yeah I'll get it this time and my god is it a beast when you get the hang of it
I don't see how it's OP unless we're talking about PvP. I find Whirligig Saw and some spammier weapons like Beasthunter Saif and Chikage as superior in PvE.
I love the number 1 of your pick and the big sword who became in a lighter one and get very powerful!!! (Ludwig’s blade if I remember well). Those two were my go with all time
My favorite is the Beasthunter Saif It's fast on pair with Blades of Mercy, has a transformed version pretty good against crowds, but damn the first R1 attack of the untransformed version... The dash of this attack is just extremely useful and fun
My top 8: 8: Hunter’s Axe 7: Beasthunter Saif (you can lump Saw Cleaver and Saw Spear in with it, but the lunge attacks for me and the style are why I like the Saif the most.) 6: Beast Claw (With Beast’s Embrace rune, has anyone heard of using these without it?) 5: Blade of Mercy 4: Rakuyo 3: Holy Moonlight Sword (really pushing for number one right now) 2: Whirligig Saw (the perfect complement weapon to whatever I main. Whirligig is always with me.) 1: Burial Blade Special consideration to Bloodletter, Logarius’ Wheel, Church Pick, Stake Driver, and Rifle Spear. These are all weapons I could see being really good, but some never caught on with the community. I would love to try them, but that will take time.
Pretty late to comment on this video ( which is pretty nice I might add) but here are my top 8: 8.) Tonitrus 7.) Threaded Cane 6.) Reiterpallasch 5.) Simon's Bowblade 4.) Chikage 3.) Burial Blade 2.) Rakuyo 1.) Blade of Mercy
The best weapon in the game is the flamesprayer, high arcane stats, and the auger of ebrietas. I just finished an arcane playthrough and it was stupid easy. Stun with the auger and walk in a circle around an enemy while blasting them with fire, the damage is through the ceiling.
A couple of my favorites (that weren’t mentioned) are the Chikage for being badass and my initial playthrough weapon, and the Beasthunter Saif for having my favorite movement oriented move set. Plus, have to give props to the Saw Cleaver for its raw utility in pretty much every situation.
The holy moonlight sword untransformed mode is pretty amazing as well maybe even more so. It isn't flashy but those R2 thrusting attacks are the best of its kind in the game. Most swords in this game have them for their R2 but the moonlights are the fastest despite being a greatsword, have the most reach, don't consume much stamina and are probably only outdamaged by the metal Ludwig's holy blade transformed mode stabs (but those are super slow). I really wanted to go on this tangent because I honestly feel like it's the only weapon that legitimately makes me use R2 attacks more than R1s! And it isn't even for the reason you would assume, ie the moonlight waves, nope, it's the stabs, they are just that good.
Things you forgot to mention: the Burial Blade has peerless Rally potential, you can bruteforce through almost all damage in the game with it; Bloodletter is the only weapon that can inflict Frenzy (you demonstrated this, but mentioning it wouldn't have hurt); the Church Pick has Serrated damage, meaning it's just as effective against Beasts as it is against Kin.
started playing the game last month, and damn, i'm in love with Blade of Mercy, the fast peace attacks, the light and easy movement, and the stepback L2 is amazing
I have a Valtr cosplay, obviously using the whirligig saw. one of the most fun strength weapons to use, and definitely a way to bridge the gap if you're used to skill based weaponry, along with the tonitrus
My favorite weapon is surprisingly the saw blade it's simple, effective, and versatile sure it only does slash damage but the combos r so easy to pull off its up down swings r perfect for those annoying worms and going for boss heads plus it's extended version is great for crowd control and short version has really fast attacks for its damage output but it's true power comes from it's L1 u can pull this off anytime anywhere whipping it out then back in does a lot of damage can be combined with regular attacks to get really crazy... It's potential is practically limitless
