There is another option. If you already are in the grid then purchase some solar panels and tie groups of 4 panels into variable 1 ton minisplits that have dc input. Some minisplit units can work only on dc voltage. They remember your temperature settings even when all input power is off. So you don't need an inverter or batteries. Just reduce your electric bill when the sun is out. The cost of such a system is very low.
in my area they only credit you at wholesale rate and sell to you at retail and still charge transportation fees. with all the fees here it is better to go off grid
