Hey Peter & Yen!! So great to see you guys and this is an awesome trip to Hanoi!! All these places you went to look like they were great tourist spots for sure. The St Joseph Cathedral was so huge and beautiful, and that Hanoi Train street was such a trip to see the train pass so close! The night market was awesome, and so was that cool iced dessert. The water puppet show looked too cool.. we would have loved that. Kiem Lake was so awesome that you got to see some small turtles in it. The fine art museum had some beautiful artwork in it and loved some of the sculptures and cool you got to see the Mausoleum of where Ho Chi Min lays to rest!! Thanks for taking us with you and much love! Awesome adventure!
Thank you girls! 🙂🙌 There really is plenty to visit and check out in Hanoi, loads of great food and a real bustling city vibe. It was super cool getting to see the lil turtles.. didn't think we'd get to see that so def felt lucky! 😊 The mausoleum was a pretty surreal experience.. first time seeing basically a modern day mummified body but the whole person and seeing his face too.. he was so well persevered 😲 I'm glad they didn't allow cameras inside though. The train does come super close, it's quite the roar and rush when it goes right past you but apparently the street has been closed off now so we're super glad we were able to see it in time! Unfortunately for others they won't get the chance anymore unless they decide to reopen in the future. Have an awesome week ahead you two! 🙂🙌
@@PeterandYen Hi Peter and Yen, Awesome Vlog, i have tried to capture the hanoi experience in my latest vlog, not as cool as yours, but your feedback on improvement will be nice.. do visit and suggest pls
@@PeterandYen Thanks! also a quick question if you don't mind! but I'm going to Vietnam soon for like 1 month, starting from North to South, and a little bit in the center, planning to do stuff like Sapa, Ha long Bay, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Snorkeling, etc So the question is, should I come with Mochila outdoor or Luggage? (I'm not sure if it's important to mention but I'll be putting quite a lot of food in my luggage/mochila, amount of food that last around 1 week, but it's not cause I'll be sleepin in the woods or something like that, but cause I can only eat my own specific food) Thanks!
Visited vietnam in August!! I spent five weeks there. I have traveled all over asia but by far vietnam is the most loveliest places i have been lucky enough to visit. The people the culture i love . if you are thinking of going to vietnam dont hesitate you wont regret it. Love it love it love it. Its also amazing value. I will return next year for sure.
Said it so well Ben! Thanks for sharing your experience too 😊👍 We're thinking of heading back next year as well and going South since we mostly stayed central and North during this trip 🙂 We have two more vlogs to share from our time in Vietnam (both from Ninh Binh which we loved!). Hope you'll enjoy them too! Part 1 of the 2 comes out tomorrow 😁✌️
Thanks Ben! Appreciate you watching our videos and hope you enjoy our other ones from Vietnam and other countries too if you end up checking more out 😁 Have a great weekend! 👍
Super exciting! Hope you have a wonderful time 🙂 btw we mention details in our description but just fyi Train Street last we heard has unfortunately been shut down to the public due to some tourists doing some unsafe things.. so hope you're aware in case you were looking forward to it. Hope you have a great time in Vietnam whatever you end up doing 🙂👍
Hahaha yea we got lucky here but today our last day in Xi'an before we head to Beijing it's raining 😅 We crammed a far bit into our Vietnam trip but we were there for a total of about a month 😁✌️
Oh man, the skewers are very affordable and they look so tasty! The hour long water puppet show looks like a cool experience! Thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks guys! I realized we'd never seen a puppet show before till we got there haha it was nice but definitely needed the head set to understand the stories 🙂👍 skewers were great, just don't get tricked like I did 😅
Hahaha hectic city, totally agree!! Super awesome guide Peter and Yen of Hanoi city, glad to see other new places, and also bringing back memories of those that we've been to!
Thank you guys! This one was the culmination of 5 days of filming. Yen n I have really been enjoying taking it easy and really enjoying the new environment we are in 😁👍
Great episode guys! We adored Hanoi even with all the traffic and pollution. Hoan Kiem Lake and all the surrounding restaurants and cafes was our favorite spot to chill!
It's an awesome place! And agree, despite the traffic and pollution would say it's a must visit when in Vietnam for sure. Great way to get immersed 😁✌️
Thank you glad you enjoyed the video 😊✌ hope you have an amazing trip we're actually going back in mid February too. But this time to ho chi Minh can't wait too it's an amazing country 😁
Thank you for the JUMP guys 👏🏼👏🏼🥰 Yen I love prawns.. I would have been ummm excuse me??? Where’s my prawn? 😂 It looked like prawns from here. Never mind dear Yen. 😃👍🏼 And then.. dry ice cream 🍨 eating cold air. Aweee still loved watching guys. Thank you ever so much for you two & your videos. Stay safe & God Bless. See you both on your next adventure and food tastings YUMMY 💕💕
Hahaha I was so confused 😂 like what is this.. where did my prawn go? 😅 Peter just laughed at me hahaha 😂 so then when I ate that crunchy air I was like noo where is the ice cream 🤣😅 Thanks so much Faye! ❤️❤️❤️ Lots of love to you and your fam. Only 2 videos left from Vietnam but it's from perhaps our fave time there ☺️👍 Have a wonderful day!
I've actually been on that corner of bamboo street! That's dragon breath "popcorn" you tried at the night market. I tried it in Seoul. I liked Hanoi a lot more than Saigon. I thought it was much more beautiful.
Hello Jason 👋 enjoy your trip in December! Vietnam is such an amazing place. Yen n I are already planning our return next year. Most likely to ho chi Minh City 😁 glad you found the video useful 👍
That crunchy air looks pretty though. LOL The puppet show looks amazing. So much color! Great story, Peter. I appreciate that you guys talk about what's culturally accepted in some of this places, like at the mausoleum for example. Another great tour guys!
Hahah yea it's a bit of a novelty dessert! I was really hoping for some ice cream 😅 especially after getting tricked by the fake prawn lolol 😂 Thanks guys! Yea we try mention what we think others might be interested to know about in order to respect the rules and culture there 🙂👍
We read that recently too! It's a shame for the businesses that relied on the tourism the street brought but we're glad we got to experience train street before they closed it off to tourists. Maybe in the future they might open it up again when they're able to better ensure safety? 🤞
Safety first. The reason they closed because some tourist reached out to the train, swung their arms out to touch the train. Tourists behaviour is the reason. It’s sad.
Lol fish paste that looks like prawn 🤣 perhaps a vegetarian prawn? That icy dessert is always cool for photos/videos, but made us pay for some holo crunchy air :P
We've noticed that trip advisor especially sell tickets a lot more expensive than if you were to buy the tickets at the location 😲 but we definitely look out for every trick we can to save money 😁
Too bad they will close off the train street for the safety of the visitors. It’s one of the iconic tourist attractions. Still would love visit it someday though, hopefully there will be a way to enjoy the experience safer 😊
Yea hopefully one day they'll reopen but dunno ay.. guess it is kinda dangerous for people who don't pay attention to the locals who are yelling and gesturing to everyone to get off well before the train arrives! Glad we managed to see it before it got shut off to the public.. hope you get the chance one day too! 🤞
2:26 Yen aptly shows how it feels when we're behind the camera while watching the other half eating down something yummy! Or even like us viewers watching you guys eat on screen, but our hands will never reach the food 🤣
😂😂😂 it's much worse being a viewer and not being able to eat. Sometimes the craving is so strong you need to wait half a year and plan a whole trip around trying one dish 😅
Yea! We heard and read about that too! Glad we got to see and experience it before they closed it! Think they're worried an accident will happen coz some tourist was taking a selfie on the track with an approaching train and it only managed to stop just in time.. silly person ruined it for everyone 🤦🏻♀️
Peter and Yen Ugh that’s the downside of awesome looking places when they go viral and attract more careless tourists. Glad you got to experience it before the change!
Yea exactly.. it's definitely a shame. Some stuff we're surprised you can do in other countries and so we do it before it gets shut down haha like the Mario karts driving through Tokyo.. still one of the most exhilarating activities we've done to date but are so certain it's gonna get closed if it hasn't already!
Good to hear another different variation on the story of the lake, it's so interesting, and that park is super lovely, we passed by almost every day when we're there, brings back memories! 🥰 There are ALWAYS tourists who would step out of the line, so glad they have the guards there to keep the mausoleum, who knows what the place might become if not because of these guards!
You know what we watched your video of Hanoi like 4 times now. Before to find out where to go and one after we went for the same reason to bring back memories of the trip. Love the place would be awesome to go again sometime. Unique atmosphere and just hanging out near the lake looking for turtles is fun 😁
omg the train actually runs?! how to they alert people the train's coming?! haha yay for street food! LOL Yen's hand reaching for them skewers "chewing into crunchy air that tastes like grape" - i kinda wana try
They yell loud and gesture a lot!! Hahah apparently it's closed recently though coz some noob was taking a photo and ignored the oncoming train and it only stopped just in time before hitting them! That crunchy air.. I felt ripped off and wanted some ice cream inside lolol is definitely a novelty thing 😅
that train street is quite interesting, thought it's inactive rail track but they active and still has a train passing by! wow...how did they give a sign to the people there? saw people sitting on that track >
The locals just yell at everyone and gesture to get off the tracks lol but apparently the street has since been shut off to tourists! Lucky we got to see it before it closed though!
The water puppets were my fav in Hanoi. :) The cultural museum i.e. Vietnam National Museum of History (not the nearby political museum) was also great. Just a walk around the Lake of the Restored Sword (Hoan Kiem Lake) is nice in the very late afternoon and evening.
You guys are fantastic. I wish more people could give your video a like as you'll have done such a good job explaining everything. Fellow RU-vidr 🥰 good luck to you guys xx
I go to Hanoi next September then ha Long Bay and sapa for my first holiday. This was great to see, really can't wait to see train street. So cheap there too
That's so exciting but so sorry to break it to you but seems like train street got shut down recently coz of tourists misbehaving and doing silly things while the train was going past like touching it or trying to take a selfie while it was approaching 😕 had a note about it in the description! Don't think it's reopened since though. Hope you still have an awesome holiday regardless! Hanoi is a really cool place especially for the great cheap eats too 🙂👍
that show looked really cool - good tips about where to get ticks.. i wouldve thought tripadviser would have at least the same price as what you would find at the counter also interesting rules at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.. single file and keep up with the pace....does that mean you always have to go in with a group and can't wander around? Hanoi looks amazing guys - thanks for capturing it so well!
Thanks Janice! 😁 Yea no wandering around. Inside where the body is it's single file around the square room inside and then straight out. Once you're outside on the grounds you're free to roam about but stick behind the yellow lines or get whistled at like that group of people that crossed it and ignored the signs 😅 You don't need to go in a group or anything 🙂 just respect their rules 👍
Really love that contrast of Asian and French influences, both in the food and architecture. Bamboo street looks so unique, and very specific. haha Train Street is on our list for sure. Peter, we'll need some of your bargaining tips. We are sooo bad!!
Yea lots of interesting mixed architecture in Vietnam 🙂 Unfortunately seems like train street has recently been closed off to the public though! Glad we got to see it but sadly seems like others will miss out.. looks like they shut it down a few weeks ago!
That train street was illegally operated by locals which was reckless and may cause deathly accident, that’s why the authority decided to stop it. It’s sad but also a relief.
Yea we read about that too it's such a shame but if tourists can't be more careful and not do silly things then unfortunately stuff gonna get closed down. Glad we got to see it before it did and who knows maybe one day they'll open it back up if there's a way to protect people from themselves 😅
@Drgnfli well said! Some people really need to learn to respect other cultures and lands, it's just common courtesy. It's a shame you missed out on train street tho. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Vietnam. That's crazy about the girl you saw at Angkor Wat @.@ We're actually in Cambodia now too! Just arrived yesterday 🙂
As an American that train track area is mindblowing. In the USA that area would have one thing written all over it: lawsuit. People falling on the tracks, getting hit by train, etc. Lawyers ruin everything.
honest question here…how are locals when americans visit? i grew up in germany so i know the kind of looks i used to get an not so welcoming at times, how is it in vietnam?
A dear friend of mine is moving there next month and I was just getting an introduction to what he is in for. He has asked me to visit him so I am getting my hands around actually going there. Thanks you
That's so exciting! If you've never been to Vietnam or Asia before it can be quite a culture shock and a little overwhelming haha we love it though so hope you have an amazing time too when you go visit 🙂👍 thank you for dropping us a comment! 😁🙌
