The Last Unicorn is GORGEOUS! I've loved the story (in movie form) since I was a child, and then I discovered the book and have reread it many times since then and every single time I love it so much...so excited for you to read it :) I'm so happy more youtubers are picking this gem up!

I decided to read every Fredrik Backman book this year, only 520 pages to go. I am so happy I did they were nice breaks from my normal fantasy genre. My goal this year is to thrift every Patricia Briggs Mercy Thomson book and read everything Adrienne Young has written thus far.

My goals this year are to read the ACOTAR series and reread the Hunger Games series. Other that, I'll probably keep reading new releases like I did this past year, as I found that to be super enjoyable! I'm mostly a library reader, so I don't buy a ton of books, but I do have a good amount anyway. So another goal is to read my actual physical TBR and size down my bookshelf a bit and only keep things I truly want copies of.

The Last Unicorn was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I still love it today. The soundtrack is still so good. I read the book for the first time last year and loved it too. The movie is a pretty good adaption overall but the book does have some expanded sections (as per usual) I’m really looking forward to The Book that Broke the World by Mark Lawrence. The sequel to the Book that Wouldn’t Burn which was one of my favorites last year. The sequel is listed to be out April 11th!

My fave patchett so far is the Dutch house then state of wonder then tom Lake. I too have a big collection of her stuff to read through. Tom Hanks is apparently a friend of hers, I really enjoyed his narration of the Dutch house. I highly recommend state of wonder.. It's unlike anything I've read and whilst it wasn't my favourite of hers, the visuals have stuck with me years later. I can't shake it off! 🌴 Hope you enjoy your year of Ann!

I appreciated Grace of Kings more after digging into the historical context of it, but ultimately felt it was too slow with too many disjointed POVs at the beginning. The beginning 200 pages were a slog for me. It was more focused in the second half, which I liked better, but didn’t save it from being a disappointing read. Knowing the second book is about the same in length I’m still hesitant to continue since I thought the first one could have been tightened up a lot.

I think I’m in the minority when I say I did not like The Last Unicorn at all. This book is barely 200 pages long and it took me over two months to finish. It was a SLOG 😬 The only part I kind of enjoyed was going more in-depth with the Unicorn’s/Amalthea’s thoughts and feelings; everything else was just meh, so I’ll just be sticking to the film from now on which I absolutely adore 💖 But as everyone is different and unique, I’d say read it if you’re genuinely curious! 😄
