Don't think people realised that he was on the run, escaping a London prison in 2019 is crazy as it is, on top of that he made no effort to hide himself, I'm surprised he wasn't captured sooner.
Yes, Modie was a brilliant character and sad that he was killed. But Top Boy is so brilliant because its realistic. Modie was so fun to watch because of his eccentric personality and cockiness, but that cost him his life. And nobody expected him to go out like that, but you just cant predict anything in top boy, and thats why its so fucking good
Hats off for Dave for acting so tapped in this series. Showed he could be a whole different person. But he should have lasted a bit longer in this film. Should of seen his pay back to Kano
People bemoaning his death, I feel you. But I think it shows the capriciousness of the kind of life and how it can all be taken away from you in an instant, especially if you're a marked man.
The point is top boy's supposed to reflect reality. This isn't some American drama where the guy escapes prison and conquers the world. In real life, if you do that shit and act like Modie did then you're either stupid or a lunatic (Modie), or even both XD. It would've been cool to see him as the primary villain but if that would've happened, it would be just another generic show where you could predict every step. I like that the show stayed true to its roots in reflecting reality and real consequences. This is a good example of subverting expectations. It may have been shocking yet disappointing and sudden, but it still very much made perfect sense.
Tbh this was the best way to end Modie. Simple and to the point which is perfectly realistic. Yes it would be cool seeing a big clash between Sully and Modie but it just would take you out of the realism.
