What did you think of the final season of Top Boy? Comment your thoughts below! I wish it was longer, only because I didn't want it to stop. I've got a few videos planned where i'll be delving into the main characters and topics in this final season. Hope you enjoyed this vid! 👊
I see a lot of comments on here saying this final season was rushed. It wasn’t. It’s the final season therefore eveything needed to be wrapped up smoothly and it was. There was closure, there was tragedy, there was cohesion. Stefan’s character arc was nicely done as was jaq’s, sully and Dushane. Performances were stellar. I really felt that moment when sully had the gun in my man’s mouth, really uncomfortable to watch but it made for great t.v. Barry K representing the Irish was the perfect addition to the show even if his screen time was relatively short he definitely chewed up every moment of screen time he had. Yes there could have been a couple more episodes but it really didn’t need that extension. The show is visceral in tone and gritty in execution. The type of show that allows the characters to feel real and tangible without it being far-fetched and silly. My only gripe was Dushane murdering his business partner in his own home. He really should have thought about disposing the body. It might have saved him the hassle of running around summerhouse with those bags for the last 30 minutes like some hood-rat. 🤦🏿♂️ 😂😂😂 Minor nitpicks aside this was a sound ending to a fantastic tv series. For me this is the British equivalent of breaking bad.
This season should've had 8-10 episodes I don't agree with how Dushane's character was written, him becoming a slime bucket and an irrational person didn't make any sense maybe if there were more episodes they could've given him more backstory as to why he became the way he is more scenes of him mourning his mom and the after effects of losing her should've played a bigger part
The funniest thing about this season is that Latif’s henchmen turned up with rifles like they were battle-hardened mercenaries yet they got taken out in 10 seconds
Bro ran out of cover and just straight into bullets, and they're 'professionals' and were 'guaranteed safety' for dushane, that bit was a bit silly, i literally just finished it now. Sullys death was PERFECT imo because he died by the sword.
Ikr that felt unrealistic icl, if Dushane disappeared quietly while sully was on the other side it might’ve been a better way to continue the show, but no loose ends was kinda foreshadowing for the show to end
The way Sully turned into a straight monster in this season but didn’t shoot Steff at the end was perfect..it showed he finally feels remorse right before he got killed..Sully was holding a gun the whole time, he gets in car and puts his gun in the bag.. it was a perfect ending
Yeah I was about to comment on him having a gun, not many ppl spoke abt this detail. It’s very weird tho because it felt like he accepted stef killing him
@@loulielabsi3806he couldn’t have drawn faster than having one already to him. Not like the cartoon or John wick where they have very very abnormal draw times. Two hands tight in a hoody because of the cold to drawing literally in milliseconds is very very unlikely
@Max2nice he had that shit in his hoody pocket with his hand on it he coulda blasted him thru the hoody if he wanted. Coulda shot him in thr back when he turned around. He made a choice not to kill stef
@Max2nice there's literally videos on the net of people being killed while having the ups on someone. I've seen multiple videos like it on gore sites. It's not very unlikely. Everyone isn't built the same.
@squidguard1 That may be so, but these kinds of roles are some of the most difficult to pull off correctly. Getting the audience to love and hate you while simultaneously supporting your agenda in secret. That's why when it's done correctly and nominated, it's almost always met with an Academy Award. Denzel in Training Day Leo in The Revenant (bit of a stretch) Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood Joaquin Phoenix in Joker The only time I can think of when one of these characters lost was in 2002 when Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York, lost to Adrien Brody in The Pianist.
“If we’re not monsters, we’re food and I could never be food” one of the best lines in the show or any show given the circumstances and Sully’s character development
Exactly!!!! This is not a fucking entertaining crime drama it's a crime deterrent!!! So many people are mad this season wasn't filled with drama and it's wild cos that's the last thing it needs
Which is why the show should end right here. The tale has been told and everything from here narratively speaking would just be repeating the same story
If Stef didn't kill Sully, that boy was the hero of the series and the entire show. Every reason to go down the wrong path but standing at the crossroads with his life ahead of him, made the right choice and didn't follow the way of his brother. Saved himself so much grief and torment and broke the destructive cycle of revenge. Kano's acting was magnificent and sheer class. Sully was such an intriguing and complicted character but a monster he became and paid the inevitable price.
but that wasn’t the plot point. Sully had a final moment of remorse at the end where he could have finished the kid but finally smartened up. Softly chuckling in the car and putting the gun away only to go out the same way he did to other people for five seasons. And Stef represents the cycle of crime and trauma. It was a bad ass scene I’m gonna probably love it forevevr
@@TheKingKurb Jaq would have to be the odds on favourite. She knew full well that she will always be a target as long as Sully was alive and only a matter of time before he would be coming for her. Sully made it clear she had no pass and forced into a classic case of kill or be killed.
A few things that could have been written better: - Why did Mandy get so much screen time and get so important? I think the riot thing was a little bit over the top, and what happened eventually to the little girl who got hit by the police car? - Why did Dushane clean so badly after he killed Jeffrey? I mean I get it he was in some sort of angry panic attack, but still he had all the time to clean or could have set the house on fire? - Lastly, the guys from Latiff that were supposed to get Dushane out, you expect that they were some sort of old commandos, but they got killed within 10 seconds by just two roadmen. I mean cmon...
Exactly Dushane had gloves on and was wiping off everything he touched so how is his prints all of the crime scene? It’s poor writing and it felt rushed
Just got done watching Sully's death of the last episode 10 minutes ago. Too little of the irish, perfect Jaq character development, too little of Stef and the perfect amount of Kieron and Dushane's stories. 🙌🙌
One thing that I love is the hypocrisy the roads has. For example, with Jaq she was always shotting food until it started to affect her family thats when she wanted to stop but what she doesn't realise is how much family lives shes already affected. Its something which I loved to see how shes now realising that its bad because its affecting her sister and the baby. I also love the hard truths they dished out in this series. When Mandy told Jaq that Lauren died because of the food she shot, and how Sully told her that there is no one to blame for her death but her really shows how sad that type of lifestyle is, and that you only start to change when it hits home.
yup lets not forget about Ats as well, that whole situation was caused by her bringing a kid into this dangerous business, she didn't care then even after all the terrible tragedy it brought, it is only when she is affected that she can see how fucked this whole business she is in is.
That part really annoyed me because she was shotting for time but caring what it did to those families but as soon as it’s a family meme we buying off of your own workers all of a sudden you give a fuck? She was a big hypocrite for that
I think it was also when jaqs went to the crackheads flat and seen the unclean baby on the floor and drugs everywhere. At that moment she realised the shit she’s caused.
There were some really good things that people are not seeing. Stef’s character arc was really well done. He was set out for revenge but matured through conversations with his girlfriend, realising that being a gangsta will kill him eventually. So killing sully isn’t worth it. He doesn’t want to be the top boy, that’s what killed his brother. That was pretty obvious so i don’t know why people want him to be Jamie 2.0. Jamie said in the last season, stef is smart. They showed that here. He’s smart enough to know not to follow the same path as his brother. Sully’s death was well done. It made sense. The amount of people hes killed in just this season alone, he’s not getting a happy ending. He’s amassed way too many enemies. The Irish, Jaq, stef, Jamie’s friends. If stef wasn’t going to get him, someone else would. It’s a message that being the top boy and living this lifestyle doesn’t end well. There are no happy endings. When you’re in that life, it ends abruptly with no warning. I feel like people want a Hollywood ending. When it’s not that. It’s real. There aren’t no opportunities for final goodbyes in this lifestyle. There aren’t no final stand offs and there isn’t opportunity for closure.
I felt the deaths were quite Hollywood? both the main character's died following final stand offs with their rivals. Dushanes death especially followed a very Hollywood esque action sequence.
In addition to your first point when Si handed over the gun to stef which jamie gave him and he knew that after his death Si will be giving it to stef but jamie still did not told Si to convey any message to stef while handing it over for example to kill sully or something jamie wanted stef to learn and do what he feels right at that point
I see a lot of comments on here saying this final season was rushed. It wasn’t. It’s the final season therefore eveything needed to be wrapped up smoothly and it was. The acting was great but the script wasnt very good an it was definitely rushed, to many weak plot devices, like Jaq stealing the grub, Dushane killing someone an not cleaning up properly after we have seen him kill a bunch of people an get away with it, Dushane not having any stashs of money any houses etc makes no sense. Script was kinda weak its the acting that carries the show
@@flamboyentpromotions3471 exactly bro, the whole world plot was weak compared to what we seen in other episodes, only thing that changed this season was the approach they made, they were more aggressive n heartless but everything else jus didnt make sense, like i get last season n shi but atleast put sum effort
I think Top Boy ended exactly how it was supposed to end. Everyone is disappointed in how short the Irish Mob lasted but every season they take out a new supplier. The only thing that could have been done better was Dushane’s death, they should have made his death feel like Driss’. The ending was perfect and reminded me of the Soprano ending.
@@IllIllIllIllIIII think the wall symbolized his freedom and if he made it on the other side fine he would’ve escaped but he got shot just as he was right on top of the wall which was the very end of the line
It was Jaq. The intention of the person who killed Sully was just to execute him and leave. That matches Jaq's goal, to cut out of the game. If it was Si or the Irish, they would have went for the bag in the car after killing Sully. The killer just kept on walking away from the scene of the crime.
Nahhh bro the person is wearing a green jacket and you can see the way they walk off after killing sully...it was Jaq and there's gonna be a new series with her and others watch
This show exemplified perfectly the saying ‘Live by the sword, die by the sword’. The characters either break the cycle of violence and revenge (Aaron, Stefan, Erin’s mother, etc.) or pay the consequences. What a masterpiece.
From the first moment seeing Dushane & Sully having a laugh at the good van in 2011 to the last scene of Sully tearing up as he realises he shot & killed his brother - brilliant, a piece of British culture on film Kane Robinson should do more screen work, great actor, so is Ashley Walters
As a Londoner now in my 60s, I am so proud of of this production team for putting on screen the best and most realistic portrayal of city street gangs in London, as an insight, to ever hit the screen. I know characters of the sort portrayed in the Series and its so on point it gives me the chills. So well done to the the whole Team. This was the best and most realistic representation of some of Londons City Street Gangs & this genre of film to be exported from the UK, and they deserve all of the kudos and acclaim that comes to them for it. Quality and brilliance are just two words that come to mind whilst viewing all three Top Boy Series, which clearly demonstrates their awesome potential for taking on a Big Screen Production.
I think this season was a bit iffy it was amazing but they under-utilised the hell out of the Irish they kinda did practically nothing other then the brutal mass scare in the retiring home I do think it was absolutely terrifying seeing sully threaten jaq leaving her horrified of someone she considered a friend he completely lost empathy at the end and became the summerhouse monster from the channel 4 show also stef didn’t do much not surprised jaq murked sully at the end For the first time dushane was vulnerable when bleeding out even quivering a panicking
I hate how we spent the majority of last season in Morocco - - just for them to say “The suppliers are all dead - and Emilio’s entire family was just killed”
@@firstlast9846 yeah it’s such a stupid answer like I’m sorry but the Irish mob would be falling apart if they were able to take out a whole mafia it just makes no sense how they aren’t stressing and living life on easy mode they wasted Barry keoghan in three episodes icl they would’ve been better off not even bothering with the irish
@@Jk-sd3sx i think they killed characters off like it was joke compared to last season it was only two characters this season (excluding dushane and sully cause that made sense) it was like over 3 people in the space of six episodes idk why they didn’t do 10 eps
*They never knew what to do with Sully* post Season 3… they set him up to realise his daughter was more important than the roads after murdering Dris.. but they repeat his story arc in the next season.. Kano literally carried this show with Ashley
Both Dushane and Sully were the scariest they've ever been in this season, for me anyway. They really ranked up the gears on their characters. Excellent acting by them both
This is why people liked Jamie being in it, wasn't just then two like it's always been about, I never enjoyed the Lauren scenes as they were cringe in most parts. I think the whole Lauren dosing on dark and using it to put jaq with the baby and make decisions based off that is a terrible story plot. I thought some sort of retaliation would come from sully ramming his gun down Si's neck but nothing but love scene from Stephen. Did a whole scene about Stephen losing his virginity 🤣🤣like what the fuck
Sully’s character arc made perfect sense when he said that “if we ain’t monsters, we’re food. And I could never be food” line. He’s telling you explicitly THIS IS ME. ITS ME OR NOBODY ELSE.
Excellent ending. I felt like Sully needed to suffer though. He got the fastest/painless death. He deserved the worst. And that’s a testament to how great of an actor Kano is.
He really didn’t. See, while Sully is murderous brute he doesn’t ever intentionally kill just to kill. There is morality involved as from his perspective he is enforcing street justice to those who broke the code or crossed him. If Lithe and Lizzie took his money he would not have killed Jeffrey in a fit of rage.
@@damage678that’s why he is such an well written character. I couldn’t think of a single scene where Sully wasnt Sully. And Kano being a phenomenal actor sealed the deal for me. I hope we will see him in other crime shows in the future
You gotta realise that sully literally went through hell before he died and was already prepared for it, when stef threatens to shoot him he had his strap on him and we all know if he wanted to he could of easily killed stef there and then (sharpshooter don’t miss fr) his brother who he built his empire with he killed with his own hands, his bredrin he grew up with. Killed with his own hands, his right hand man killed because of his orders, he got betrayed by jaq and kieren and put kieren to death
I believe the shows ending was to show there is no winning when it comes to the street life, dushane had everything but lost it all and eventually lost his life, Sully lost all his close friends to the streets, either killing them himself or due to his involvement in the streets, jaq lost her sister to the drugs she had her ygs shotting, stef loses his older brother who was his father figure, sullys daughter loses her dad same with stefs girlfriend (didn’t care enough to remember her name) and the list goes on and on, nobody in the show wins beside Lizzie and lithe who run off with the money
Only thing I would say is bad ab top boys final season personally is that Lizzie and lithe just get away with all of dushanes money, I wish he had killed them however still lost his money so his downfall could still happen, it’s jus kinda fucked how they just get away with that
@@IllIllIllIllIII nah because the whole plot line to get him to that stage was weak, him not having 250k after all the mills hes made, an leaving so much evidence after killing the guy. Just weak
I think the reason why it felt so rushed was because it felt more like reality in a way. You see it in Dushane acting more irrational and angry as opposed to being the calm and cool character he’s always been which led to his downfall in how he did a certain action which caused him to slip up when he usually isn’t like that. Dushane caused his own undoing and sully was nothing more than a case of him having too many enemies which made his end predictable in a way. Anyone could’ve done sully which made it felt "rushed"
@@deathnotefanatic4742The message was coveyed fine over 5 seasons, doesn't stop the ending from being extremely abrupt and leaving multiple loose ends and writing inconsistencies.
They told us it was jaq in a subtle manour, she reassures her girlfriend we are going to be okay, and last time she saw sully he said “ that’s why you ain’t getting a pass, neither did keiron” so jaq KNEW in order for everything to be “okay” the look on her face after she cuddled her girlfriend solidified that she knew what she had to do, sully was going to kill her as soon as he left his daughter because he said jaw gets no pass, when have you known sully to leave loose ends? Jaq knew this and she is the only one left alive who knew enough to find sully other than steph, it was 100% jaq and the show tells us without feeling the necessity to tell us as the body language and what they (jaq and sully) last said to eachother), the killer had a hoodie on not blonde hair look closely even resembles jaqs camo hoodie in previous seasons and the killer walks exactly like jaq. This is the subtle way the show wants us to put the pieces together. A random death for sully would not make sense as no knowledge of his enemies still looking for him was shown, only person who needed him gone to be safe was jaq. There you have your answer who killed sully.
Plus the fact the killer didn’t want ANYTHING but sully dead, we know jaq wanted the drugs done and thats what stirred this whole thing up, she also knew aside from her safety in jeopardy that sully would still be poisoning communities with drugs and the way jaq’s scene was shown imediately after dushane was killed, this was no accident. There is no more proof needed if you take it all in and read between the lines, no need for conspiracy when the evidence is right before our eyes so truthfully we don’t need to see jaqs face to know she done sully.
@@mikka8007 i didn’t believe it either and thought it was the irish mob or one of the guys dushane called to escape, but there is simply nothing indicating any of that, the evidence lines up to it being jaq, and the show is genius at how they made the ending, like i said all the proof is there, and your reason doesn’t add up for all they put for us to figure out jaq needed to do it. Anything else is mere speculation, i’m just stating what is evident to us.
And one last thing , it reminds me if the ending of the sopranos, the evidence that tony was assasinated was all there as it was his point of view looking at the door everytime someone came in, the last time someone came in it was simply lights out and darkness, but the evidence shows us the focus on a strange man who enters the washroom like mafia style assasins do and probably recovers the weapon feom the bathroom, but without having to show us the sopranos made a genius way of letting us know tony was killed at the end. These genius ways of making the viewer have to pay attention to know what happened is part of how writers can keep making incredible finales to amazing series.
I was underwhelmed. I felt it made no sense for Dushane to kill jeffery and leave his finger prints or even call someone to clean up the crime scene. I didn’t understand why Dushane wasn’t worried about the police arresting him especially considering in past seasons they were so good at evading the law . the story line with Lizzy and the accountant was wasted as well as the Irish they were killed off to easily.
Dushane looked vulnerable after the first episode of this season. The moment he found out Lithe had dipped and the money was gone, its as if he lost focus and became more prang.
No sense to kill the man that he seen partly go blame in stealing all the money he earned. 16 million gone after muders and drug dealing for 5 series. If any murder was justified ot was that one
I binged watched it. Kano was finished by Jaq. Makes sense. Six final episodes were enough. The ending for Dushane & Sully was perfect. Karma hss a long memory.
very disappointed with the season… irish killed too early, stef was hardly involved, dushane death was perfect. sully had to die but not like that. still feel we’ve been left on a cliffhanger
Not really. This reminds me of the sopranos ending where you never truly see it coming. There's always a bigger predator in every field, even sully wasn't prepared.
For those who dont know who killed sully at the end. You can see clearly it was jaq. The way the person walked , and for sully killing kieron. And sully’s time had to end. Perfect ending. It was a stop to everything
Good shouts. Could have also been Stefan who changed his mind ,SI for Sully humiliating him in front of his gang or a hit put out from the mother in the Irish pub who Jonny beat to death.
No it was Jaq girlfriend that killed Sully. Look at the head wrap that the killer has on their head when walking away. Jaq girlfriend had the same head wrap on in the last scene with Jaq.
The sadness that sully can evoke in his eyes in the moment grips you and is truly amazing acting…it was too short for sure and although Dushane has always been my favorite he died whimpering and balling very unlike his character….jac’s loved her in this final series…overall an amazing series 🙏
I grew up on Kano’s music, was my favourite artist for years and years, but watching him in top boy made me forget he’s a rapper. That’s how good he was at his role. Absolutely amazing
Anybody that paid attention to the characters can tell that Jaq was the killer. 1. the style in which it happened lined up with Jaqs goals. 2. remember that Sully clearly told her she not gettin a pass after dushane took the kilos. 3. Jaq told her girl if Sully wants her dead shes dead, but told her girl everything will be fine. 4. Sully killed Keiron, her only true friend left. 5. THE KILLER HAD JAQS WALK(Jaq was the only character with a clear pop/hop/skip/ swag in her walk!!!!
I agree, but I think you’re slightly missing the point of the ending… it doesn’t matter who killed him, the message is that no matter what in the life on the roads, you get killed for the situation you put yourself in
Jaq is definitely my favourite character from this season and to know she survived it is relieving. Especially due to her mental health struggles and the fact Sully nor Dushane cared about it throughout this season, especially when the food was involved. With that said I like to think it was Jaq at the end, finishing things off with Summerhouse, protecting her new family & getting revenge for Kieron, starting a new life. However, I like to think it actually was Stef rethinking his decision. Deciding in the end that what had happened to his brother, Si, Erin’s dad Dris & fully knowing how sick Sully truly was, he decided to rid the world of someone like that and maybe take his place. Perhaps just try and live a happy life with Erin & Aaron.
Jaq is the most unrealistic character in the show, no girls are running the road like that, they only added her in to fill diversity quotas. If she really killed sully and the women at the beginning robbed their money its just turned into top girl at this point.. wouldn't surprise me if this is where they take the franchise next honestly. Everything netflix produces is super woke
Dushane does not get enough love, he protected Sully too may times to count. Sully was an underboss at best, and they were better off with Dushane in the dirvers seat. That being said, Dushane should have been more attentive to Sully. You do not want your right hand man malcontent.
I think Lizzie planned everything well. The Irish were there for a reason, this is definitely her homies. Sneaky snake. After killing Juan, Dushane and Sully should have killed Lizzie, teamed up with the Moroccans and Emilio, recruited more people into the gang and more security, then killed the Irish. But greed, pride, recklessness, lies and anger pulled them down. And the saddest part is that many went down with them (Emilio and his children, etc.) If they had a brotherhood, they would all be alive. In the end we see that in the fifth season they have nothing left but greed, cruelty, pride, lies and betrayal. They were doomed from the very beginning of the season.
The Irish had already killed Emilio and the rest of the Moroccans already, and Lizzie had fled without anyone knowing where. It's not that easy to just "team up" and defeat the Irish plus Lizzie. This isn't avengers.
@@praveeshachapman677 It was reckless to kill a player (Juan) who wasn't the last man in the game and then just not think about the consequences. You had to prepare for the consequences. Letting Lizzie live was also a bad decision. Two grown men going after pride, greed and emotion at a time when cohesion and teamwork was needed. They weren't thinking ahead, they were just cornered by the sheer number of problems that came crashing down on them at a time when their empire wasn't ready for it (because it was falling apart)
Been watching Top Boy since the very beginning on channel 4, and I was waiting for the final season for a few years. I really feel that it was a rushed and disappointing finale. Such a well thought out and beautifully written show, but the finale was weak. Only 6 episodes and sloppy. The best part was the fact that Kanos acting was some of the best I’ve ever seen in screen history. He’s a brilliant actor
was looking for this comment I completely agree. It lost the charm of all the other seasons and felt rushed. Some of the scenes didn’t make sense and the acting just wasn’t that convincing in a lot of scenes. Last episode was great but overall a weak finale
Agreed. Week final season. It was everywhere it didn’t utilize the work of the other seasons. We basically just moved on without considering the other seasons prior.
@@BrainPilotmaking someone deepthroat a gun till that spew (which looked really real tbh, was it?) and having Kieron being dragged into the van for his death was dark haha
This Season felt terrible and rushed as heck Edit-You can say I'm wrong but at the end of the day it's my opinion and every elses I just didn't like this season that's all I am not ignorant nor a hater I actually enjoy the show it's just this season so continue to moan at me for saying my opinion 👍
@@ImStillStealingSteelI think they were foreshadowing the episode drops because first season or as some people know season 3 was 10 eps then season 4 dropped to 8 now Season 5 is 6
@@BrainPilot honestly last season was better than this one it just didn't feel right at all and they written half of the characters out of the season and gave no screentime at all and we missed some plot line
I was very disappointed that Stef was living in a home. Jamie would have never wanted that. As much as he provided & looked out for both of his brothers, I would have thought Aaron would have stepped up. It was like he turned his back on Stef. What a selfish move. Let your little brother go into the system while you live your best life! The writers could have done better with this story line because it doesn't make sense.
I think Aaron went off to university since that’s what they focused on so much for his character/ what Jaime wanted for him. In my mind I’m sure the plan was he’ll get a degree and out of summer house and come get Stef then instead of sticking around working a minimum wage job all to “take care of Stef” immediately
The writers and the directors did a fantastic job of luring us the viewer into getting emotionally invested into Dushane's character arc - he was both pro & antagonist. Sully did a masterful job as the antagonist throughout each season. Their collision course, subtle at first, became quite clear in season 2 and peaked in season 3. That line, "if we are not monsters then we're food" was brilliant. The masks were off, D&S were always monsters and destroyed everything they touched. Dushane's death wasn't intentional but it was fitting (I didn't see it coming and I thought he was headed for prison) and Sully's was inevitable and personal - they made no effort to collect the P's from the car fam. The street life is unforgiving. This was a great series finale. Epic!!
@@cutiepiea3687obviously but it's more jus jarring given how much she showed up in the last 2 seasons and given the fact that Dushane is shown to actually have an attachment to her literally this season they had to name drop her jus to make sure we remember she even had a kid 🤣
It was obviously Jaq. The coldness of how it was done cancels out Steph and the single hitman and swagger walk cancels out the Irish. ZTs clearly weren't about that life anymore when he ran up on them at their yard. Plus despite everything that happened that night, Jaq was sure that "everything was gonna be alright" when she got home.
One thing i did notice just now with might be the only continuity mistake of the show and that is Dushane’s heart problems. I can’t remember if he ever went to a doctor in S2 when it first started cropping up but it reappeared in this season just to be forgotten about in E5 onwards. It was shown as very important but at no point did Dushane drop dead from a heart attack. Not whilst hiding from the police & Sully, not in a shoot out, not in a foot chase, not when trying to find Jaq. I find this quite weird as if it was forgotten about or a 2 season long red herring. Or even some kind of call forward to his demise where he would spend is last moments clutching his chest in pain. I don’t know, felt weird to me- did anyone else notice this?
Yep! There were so many little subtle things like this which made this a strong series. Remember when Jaq wanted to end the yute who served to Lauryn, and who was it that told her that road doesn’t end well? Sully. Last series Lizzie told her husband if she is no use to Dushanbe, he’ll kill her. Her husband didn’t seem to care. So what did Lizzie and Lythe do? Bump Dushane and run, which led to him killing her husband. Also touching bits like Lauryn seemingly happy again but still on the brown - which led to her drowning. Jaq not ever knowing Lauryn had named her nephew Jack after her either. The series had faults, but was quality overall!
I loved how the characters of dushane and sully who we'd been with all this time became so wretched and evil it was just ok to let them go. This just came so realistic to me dushane with his narcissistic crazed self preservation and sully with just reckless destruction
I'm pretty sure I know who killed sully. It was Si. Si and Erin were like dueling angles on Stefan's shoulders. Si preached revenge and retribution, while Erin preached forgiveness and change. Sully violated and embarrassed him in front of his youngers, with his mentality we can see there was only one road he can travel down since he was left alive.
@@great567 True, but this season Jaq hasn't been thinking properly....or at all. Some of the worst decision making skills I've seen on any show in the past few years. She really shouldn't have made it through this season in one piece
Absolutely loved the whole thing. One of the best shows ever made. So gutted this is done. All the cast were great. Big up to everyone involved. Peace!
I agree, it was the perfect way for top boy to end and it was good that this season wasn't all about he the Irish and a war between Dushane and Sully. Though I still find it hard to believe a character as loyal and sensible as Jaqs would have ever robbed Sully, despite feeling so guilty? I reckon they could have written a few more more episodes and fleshed the conflict between Sully and Jaqs out a bit i.e. a differentr reason why Sully would have a problem with Jaqs wanting to retire? Another point in the series when I thought the plot could have been a bit better, was in Season 1/3 when Dushane had Sugar killed. If all it took was for Dushane to find a stripper to poison Sugar in prison, why didn't he do that from the start?
Jaq's feminine instincts started to sink in. When she saw that junkie's baby all dirty she saw her nephew. It clicked that selling heroin was harming the innocent not just the junkies.
I just finished ep6 and ok??? When Netflix acquired the series, we got S1 with 10 eps, S2 with 8 eps, and now S3 with 6 eps??? Like, this season was completely rushed. I was thinking Stef was gonna get his revenge but nope. We get an unknown person that offed Sully. Which tbh, I think it was Jaq that killed him. Just from looking at how the coat fits the person, plus she has a motivate to kill him too. As much as I love the show, Im not completely satisfied with how it ended.
For me I actually don't feel it was rushed. I think a lot of metaphors were at play in this season. The reason i say that is they could have played out the scenes with the irish, but realistically they shortened that story line. The betrayal, the new suppliers, overdoses' the murders... These were all things we have seen from the show already, Im not sure it needed to play out again for a 5th time. All that was left to see was Dushane and Sully's downfall. As for who killed Sully I think Jaq had the most reason to out of everyone after Stef and it was not him.
Main issues are it felt like they just killed a lot of characters off for no real reason like Lauryn she was just happy with her son then she ends up drowning like it didn't make sense how they got from her being happy to her wanting to take the drugs and drown
She was depressed since she killed her child's father. She's not like the others. Even though he deserved it, a normal person is still gonna feel something knowing they killed someone. She had a good day with her sis but you don't get over depression with a good day or a happy moment. It makes sense.
Because she killed curtis, who in his own twisted way, cared for her unlike his sister and some of the other people she knew around. Plus she wasn't a cold blooded killer
I have mixed feelings about this season. On one hand, I think there are a lot of positives, and on the other, there are a lot of negatives. I think Stef was really great this season, but his character arc felt incomplete, and honestly, I like the way his story ended, but him killing Sully would have been far better than the ending we got for both characters. Second, Dushane's death was just underwhelming the way he went out. I like the whole chat between the two of them; but it could have been much better than it was, especially since they've been through so much together and are basically like brothers. It was just kind of weak. Dushane's ending was extremely underwhelming for the main character. Jaq I understand the message and what they were trying to set up with her, but it was kind of ass and ruined her character, imo. Besides that, there are a lot of issues and loose ends that never got filled in, like Tia, Ruben, Curtis sister, and the police investigating Dushane and the summerhouse mandem; they feel forgotten. Even Dushane's character felt off this season. Dushane is my favourite in the series; he's smart, calculated, and usually level-headed, but he wasn't any of these things this season; he was just an unbearable asshole. There's a lot more I can type about, but everyone else has already said it. I think the overall season wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It should have been way longer with much more love and effort put into it, like the first Netflix season. Hopefully this isn't the "end" of Top Boy while this is the final season. Hopefully we can get a special showing us the aftermath and them fixing the loose ends to the story like Breaking Bad did with Jesse.
Yea exactly only 6 episodes they rushed alotta things that should of been flushed out more and Dunshane and Jaq was very out of character this season lol
Again Dushane, mum died, he'd lost over 10+ mill , the guy had to start moving crazy. Not too crazy that He Can't Clean Up Murder but at the end of the day, Dushane has always been a selfish character since s2. He just used people to get where he needed to go. And when sh*t hit the fan he didn't have time to put on a front
@goodftoest I didn't say anything about Stefan killing sully I actually think him choosing to not kill sully was a good thing for the story he chose not to become part of the cycle. But jaq seemed loyal to the group never woulda saw her as someone to do what she did even in that situation dunshane was in character the whole season up until the final season he was moving very sloppy as shit in the final season dunshane doesn't seem like one to rob his own ppl as he takes loyalty very seriously it doesn't fit his character what he did to jaq he seemed like one that would always try to be fair and not take everybody's cut for himself even with all the bullshit going on
Greed got the better of Dushanbe in this series. He is usually so slick but went on a killing spree because of money and power. A bit like Shelly said, he cares more about money and power than anything or anyone else.
Im still gutted by Dushane's death. I was praying he wouldve disappeared with the bag when sully hopped over. It just seemed like he could always find a way out, thinking about his time in Jamaica. But he allowed himself one crucial mistake this season, making promises he couldn't keep. It feels weird rooting for such an evil character. At the end, atkeast til his death, Sully was the true Top Boy. He killed everyone who was ever in his way, Dris, Juan, Jamie, Johnny....and Dushane
I think of it different sully was never top boy he could never ever be top boy. Bobby raikes said it all the way back in the beginning, he is too rash and made too many enemies. He thought he finally had gotten rid of all his obstacles and all his ops. Stef even let him go. He was in the clear and was top boy for 2 seconds before he got popped.
It’s this a paid promo or something 🤣🤣🤣 this season was terrible the worst in the whole series so maybe I high or something 🤣🤣still the acting was very good in my opinion
@@ukculture9240 the previous seasons were the most predictable tv ive ever seen, this season was class! didn't know what was going to happen at any point. The care home seen was fkn crazy🤣
@@ClassicCOD the care home scene was very entertaining 🤣 but Yh naar this season was absolute dog shit 🤣🤣🤣 very predictable it’s you knew sully was going to die you knew dushane was going to die I could tell the sister was gonna kill herself within the first 2 minutes of her first scene they definitely rushed this season but hey at least they brought back top boy
Boy would have been better off being deported , I guess Mandy was foreshadowing plus the lil girl dying was heartbreaking after seeing her go outside to play with a friend ….
This is the first time to see Dushane be that reckless, as Summerhouse showed him to be rational, especially during tough times. He lost it when he killed Jeffrey. It was out of character to leave all those clues behind.
I hope Top Boy gets a spinoff going in the direction of Sully's killer (Jaq from what I think) and of course Stefan. Although I'm a massive fan of the series I must say, this season felt rushed and in my opinion was the weakest season of the whole franchise. To have the Irish crime family being scaled to be the most ruthless and dangerous threat to Sully and Dushane, then kill them off so quickly didn't sit well with me. I was excited to see what Barry Keoghan would bring to this show as he fits into the franchise perfectly. The only emotional moments I cared for were Stefan speaking to Jamie and his family, the death of Luaryn and the heart to heart between Dushane and Sully. I've come to terms that shows like this ultimately portray choices have consequences and consequences affect everyone. The reveal of the undercover police agents was a fantastic twist that was so unexpected. I was invested in their investigation into the criminal organisation and wanted to see how Dushane would navigate throughout that direction. I think that the writers had too many stores to conclude and felt pressure finding a way to execute a good/satisfying ending. On the other hand I've learnt that just like in real life, nobody knows their ending and final fate. The roads dont forgive and love anyone. With that being said if the franchise continues I hope for the name to be Top Boy The Next Generation or A New Age. I love this franchise and hope to see these talented performers in new projects. Standout performances from Ashley Walters, Kane Robinson, Micheal Ward, Jasmine Jobson, Saffon Hocking, Araloyin Oshunremi and Jolade Obasola. BrainPilot thank you for the reviews and your takes on these shows, much appreciated.
Two things I loved: Jacq’s own dealer caused her sister’s death, taking the bags caused Kieran’s and she attributed to Dushane’s and directly to Sully’s. She ends up by default “Top Boy” if she wants the title. 😅 Most powerful thing I saw was Sully could’ve shot Stefan through his hoodie holding his glock the entire time but was willing to accept his fate. He was already mentally exhausted from it all & was going to let Stefan have it. Stefan would’ve shot him and saw his gun fall out of his pocket while he held it.
Saying she attributed to dushane death is ridiculous 🤣🤣🤣 that means the police attributed the friends everyone in the show basically 🤣🤣 she could Neva be top boy and not just because she would have to be a boy 😂😂
@@ukculture9240 the portion where she “involved” people is the part you missed. She called Dushane from his mom’s flat and gave him the location and time for the exchange and she didn’t really need to.. but it helped the storyline and his fate knowing where the exchange would be. It wasn’t that deep for you to reach for “police and friends” there was a point to it.
@@The-Canonjaq was kinda a mess this season and honestly felt like she should have died, its a bit unfair since a lot of males died and the one girl doesnt die?
Sully was the best written character in the show,he’s an anti-hero but more of a villain at the same time,Dude was a horrible person but I liked him for that,he was honest and didn’t mind taking out a fan favorite
They butchered my boy Dushane this season SO FUCKING BADLY Somehow Dushane is more like Sully than Sully is like Sully this season Dushane is usually the smart level headed clam thinker the strategist that's what always set him apart from Sully and the rest of the SummerHouse gang or the ZTs Dushane was handled so poorly this season it actually annoys me while his death convocation with sully was good everything leading up to it was shit and even when he got shot was shit dushane being cornered and being taken out with a shot to his side and crying as his consciousness fades away...man this really isn't how I pictured the Top Boy dying let alone the main character from the entire series every character this season was soo poorly written but Dushane was done the most dirty and like genuinely annoys me that one of my favourite characters in top boy in fact fiction as a hole has a sloppy end...They genuinely need to rerelease this season with longer episodes and with a better script because genuinely this is such a heart-breaking and disappointing end to one of the BEST crime dramas ever made.
FR.. like you trynna tell me Dushane was smart enough to use bleach around the crime scene when he killed Jeffrey - but not smart enough to wipe up the kitchen counter and the entire house to clean up his prints? Nah
it was alright but definitely felt very rushed and ended pretty abruptly, was 100% not up to the standard of how good the previous seasons were, they could’ve wrapped it up better then that
its reality though, if you kill 3 main gang members you are most likely going to be executed exactly how sully was. It showed how selling crack ruins lives and kills people effecting the community. It didn't glorify any of it and had a strong message throughout
The irony is 'no loose ends' Who killed sully? What happened to dushane? Where are the drugs? Whos taking over fields now? Did jaq get out? Aftermath of the 'roit' ? What happened to kieron? Next steps for the youngers? This season created more questions than it answered.
It was Jaq who killed Sully. The moment she told Sully, Dushane had robbed her and Sully tells her she gets no pass it was pretty much the end for Jaq. She took him out, she had to. I think the whole season was done pretty good, could have done a bit more around the Irish gang and a scene with Dushane and Lizzie but other than that it built up nicely. The opening scene between Sully and Dushane was fire and the last scene between them was class, brought it to a great conclusion.
This was the best season so far. It made me feel so many strong emotions: stressed (Dushanbe running and hiding), terrified(Sully screaming at Kieron, threatening Jaq), proud (the protests + “let him out”) also really u comfortable (shoving a gun in Si’s mouth)and extremely shocked at Lauryn’s death… But I’m so relieved Jaq survived and that she can take care of her family
What top boy did so well was make you belive the villians were the protagonists the end season was tryna show you the damage sully n dushane has caused on summer house and fields
This season had me feeling unsatisfied, I may change my mind but if anything I was kind of feeling sad because once Jamie and Kit were no longer around and even Aaron it felt a bit depressing but seeing Si and the dude with Nike hat from Jamie’s crew was nice to see. What happened to the girl with the short hair and blue lip stick that was part of the ZT’s ?
For Dushane morning his mother, you never heal from this thrust me. I lost my dad almost 2 years ago and up until today there was not a single day when i did not think about him so i know how dushane feels
The ending was perfect. I'm always pleased when these shows don't go down the road of happy endings. Streets only go one way. Season 5 put all those realities on display and culminated in a literal and figurative bang!
I honestly thought it was going to end with Sully seeing his own daughter be killed to truly destroy him. Pretty dark but I thought that’s where it was heading
It was a sad ending for them (Sully and Dushane). You could tell Sully didn’t want to Kill him, he just wanted him to stop. It’s sad to think that all Dushane had to do was ask Sully for the money and Sully would of helped him to get out of the country given that Sully wanted him to back away from the roads anyway and Dushane had saved his life 3 out of 5 seasons(season 1,2 and 4) Dushane had too much pride and didn’t want to ask Sully for anything also he probably genuinely believed Sully wouldn’t of helped him. I loved the final season.
The acting was great in this season, but honestly, the season as a whole felt like a let down. 6 episodes instead of 8 or 10, the Irish done after 3 episodes (although their death scene was great) and even Jaq stealing felt too out of character even with Lauryn's death it still didn't feel right. Especially after season 2 when they backed her up from Curtis. I don't think the ending was bad but honestly I think this season was a huge let down and rushed due to the run time. Kano should get all the awards for his performance of Sully though, steals every scene.
