You are not going to believe how hard I worked to find the best FlyLady alternatives for you! Sometimes we need to change things up or maybe FlyLady just is not working so I want to give you options. At the end of the video, I will compare them all to FlyLady and let you know which ones I would like to try and which ones are a NO. If you want to know even more about Clean Mama, check out this video next: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-unkv874L8Ns.html Don't forget to hit like and share this video with anyone you know looking to make a change. Plus, your likes, comments, and shares mean the world to me and really help the channel grow. Speaking of growth, I have had a few conversations about taking things to the next level. I am looking into setting up a way that we can meet in a smaller private group setting regularly if you need more accountability and ideas to help get moving. Let me know in the comments below what you would love to have. Private coaching? Small group sessions? More challenges? Member perks? I want your ideas so that I can be the best cheerleader for you! Oh, and I am so excited to be posting more articles on the blog! If you have any ideas, let me know. Happy belated Mother's Day! Terri K
I found your video this weekend while trying to find a new version of the Flylady system that I can use. Thank you so much for these reviews! I think I’ve found one that can at least get me started. I did want to mention, though, that I’ll bet a lot more of your viewers are neurodivergent than you think… sometimes more than even they realize. The June Bug Method is something that I’ve mentioned (without knowing the name) to my daughter and my friends. Most people would never guess that I have ADHD (the distracted kind, not really the hyperactive kind) because I’m relatively neat, organized, and perform well at work and did very well at school. The problem is my silly brain squirreling all over the place. If I’m not under the pressure of a deadline, or really interested in something, and I have to read several pages my mind will wander to the depths of Narnia. 😂 For example, this morning I was trying to get situated for the week, and went to the TOMM site, which made me think of making a schedule for my teens. So I googled that, which led me to a website about parenting teens, which somehow made me remember my son requested some skin care awhile back, so I ended up at Amazon searching for that. Then I started looking for skincare for my daughter... even though she already has a skincare routine, and I finally snapped out of it. I thought, “okay, what the heck did I get on here for in the first place?!?” and I realized I was supposed to be thinking of cleaning & chores. 🤦🏻♀😆 So that’s kind of the June Bug Method. I get sidetracked by something “shiny” and then when I’m done with my excitement, I come back to square one, or home base, as I’ve heard it called. It’s kind of like the “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" book series (or like preschools do in May, “If you Give A Mom A Muffin”). We all get distracted, some more than others, and I’ll bet that more of your viewers deal with this than you know. I, myself, suspected I had ADHD in college, and no professionals believed me until I was 42 and pretty much insisted that I get tested, and then get treatment. The more you know 🌈💫🌠 😄
I love that you shared this! I too did ok in school and was a good kid….a little mess but I learned tricks to hide my internal chaos. When my own kids got diagnosed it was a wake up call because I was worse than they were. I’ve always been hard on myself when I forget things and rely heavily on planners and notes to keep me straight. I think you’ll love TOMM. It is easy to grasp. She also has guided audio cleaning on her patreon that I’ve enjoyed when I was getting started even though I need flylady’s life balance. I tend to forget groceries and meals the most. Like 5:30 and I am panicking th figure it out and feeling bad about myself. Finding a routine and a planner that works for my brain was the key to feeling successful. That is why I’m sharing on RU-vid. I thought it was just me but in reality a ton of people feel this way!
Yes, this is me. I just call it ADD, as it used to be called, because I don't have that hyperactive component either. I struggled with diagnosis too because the counselor I was seeing about 20 years ago said it wasn't that if I wasn't hyperactive and hopelessly forgetful. However, I think there are varying degrees and forms of ADD, just as there are of anything (autism, for example), a spectrum as they say. Nice to hear someone ( or at least 2 of you) have similar experiences.😊
Does anyone else have a problem with running the vacuum or sweeping one day and mopping the next? That just seems awkward to me because I know that dirt, etc. is tracked in between the sweeping day and the mopping day. Just asking.
I know you are right but literally, the floor is dirty 2 minutes after I mop. I'd like it to stay clean but at 3:40 kids are home and floors are dirty again. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.
I agree! I’m afraid my floors would get scratched or I’m just grinding dirt into my floors. I’m torn between its nice to only drag everything out once, sweeping and mopping on separate days is just not right for me, but oh my back hurts when I do all the floors in one day. And, it’s very time consuming as well.
I split my floors in half and vacuum/mop half one day and do the other half of the house the following day. So it still takes 2 days but don’t have that time in between for dog hair/dirt to come back and be mopping that around.
This is the first video I’ve ever watched of yours and you have yourself a new subscriber not just because of the content of the video but because of that prayer at the end. Your prayer touched my heart and filled my eyes with tears. Thank you.
You have no idea how much of a blessing your comment is. I’ve had some struggles recently and that helps me see God is working things out. Thank you so much!
In the Netherlands, it’s quite normal to have only one larger bathroom upstairs for the entire family (and a toilet downstairs). So with a daily swish and swipe and a bit of extra effort once a week, we are ok. Let’s call it ‘bathroom minimalism’ 😄 🇳🇱
I would love to see a full TOMM review and hear your thoughts on it. I think it is a fantastic system but struggle to keep up daily due to health issues. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you x
Thanks for the video- I just wanted to say that for me the Flylady is more than a system. Marla is an incredible support system. She helps people learn to love themselves. And she is a blessing for those that sit under her instruction and tutorage. I love her so much. She is really loved by God and her followers.
@@TodaywithTerriK I get it. I used to follow the method by sidetracked hone executives- but i couldn’t do the cards anymore … we all have different needs.
@@sharieffawiggins1554 I find myself going back and forth between flylady and Motivated Moms. I like the idea of MM because it literally has the entire days chores laid out for me, NO thinking. But sometimes I get frustrated because I will clean one refrigerator shelf one day and then the next we won't do anything in the fridge. I know the idea is to break things up into manageable chunks, but it sometimes feels scattered and the chore choices don't make sense to me. I know if I followed it consistently that over a season everything would get done, but I find myself struggling to stick to it. The option of paper or app is great though, and she has a lot of various paper layouts. I am a Filofax girl so her A5 layouts make me so happy
I think I had only heard of Clean Momma and I just heard about Organized Mom. I need to dust off my control journal and get back on track this summer. We're going to keep doing a little homeschooling to keep our brains engaged but I think I'll have more time to deep clean.
With all of the methods, why is the mom doing it all??? So sick of this narrative. I’ve been divorced for over 20 years so I’m used to doing it all, but I want a better system for my daughters.
I 100% agree. I try to remember to say include the entire family with the cleaning but honestly I forget now that mine are older and not around as much. My hubby makes the bed and tidys up if he gets to it first. I’m home more but we work together.
Buy a miele vacuüm cleaner! 😅 Im a claining lady in belguim and a my clients have different vacuum cleaners but miele is really the best one and i tried them all
Flylady doesn't specifically say to do dishes either. Even when she says to shine your sink she says to take the dirty dishes out before starting. Organized Mum says to keep up on the kitchen during the day which I interpret to mean keep up on the dishes.
During the Baby Steps you create your evening routines and she recommends doing the dishes and turning on the dishwasher then and emptying the dishwasher on your morning routines. I think you are right that TOMM and Clean Mama imply it.
@TodaywithTerriK Ah, I see! I didn't have the patience for the baby steps and I missed that! Right now I'm interested in TOMM and am reading her book but I'm thinking maybe I haven't given flylady a fair chance...
Hi! Just found your channel and liked the review. Especially am grateful for the ending prayer. Some time ago I found “How Jen Does it”. She no longer makes new content but her channel is still here. Her routine works quite well for me unless I get off course with unexpected things life throws at us. Then fly lady “shine your sink” method or others works and is a must when I’m not feeling well or otherwise get off course and need a push. Had never heard of the ones you shared. Look forward to watching other videos on your channel and getting back to a routine.
Bleach Pray Love does not have an app. The manuals are either a digital download that you print at home or a physical book they send you. TOMM and Clean Mama have apps that are paid apps in the app store. Write me back if I didn't answer your question.
@@TodaywithTerriK yeah I couldn’t remember which one had the app as I searched for it watching the video but I did know it wasn’t bleach pray love - that does have a paywall on her website for everything.
Yeah I’m not owning a book with the “F” word on it in my home lol also I have four kids and a dog so dusting once a month would be insane. I have to dust at least once a week!
I’m with you. These days I’m trying to only be surrounded with positive things and while the book is positive the title isn’t. I checked it out from the library.
Ah you made me laugh out loud at being so offended by the f word - it’s obviously a cultural thing, you’d be horrified here in Ireland as is used so freely - wouldn’t bat an eyelid here
Your "stinky dirty teens" should be cleaning their own bathroom. And bedrooms. And be responsible for other household chores as well (without "pay") because they live there too and should contribute to the household. You should NOT be doing all of the housework, everyone should do their share.
I 100% agree that kids should be cleaning their spaces and responsible for things around the house. While I do refer to them as dirty teens, they truly are amazing kids. Our son owns his own business and works much harder than the average kid plus takes care of a ton of chores around the house. His room is spotless and is always willing to help me when I ask. My teen daughter is definitely going through her difficult years but she works very hard at two jobs both of which are physically demanding. She also manages our horses and other animals. Additionally, she is a junior in high school and taking 3 college classes. Yes, their bathroom gets dirtier than I personal love but I give them grace when they are working so hard and overall good kids. I am sorry that you did not get to see that we require a lot from our kids. Overall we have raised strong, intelligent, and kind kids who have a heart for Christ. We are not perfect nor are our children but we work well together to keep the house running.
