My favorite final boss is Primal Dialga from Pokemon Mystery Dungeons Explorers of Time. I like it because of what it does to impact the story. You came from the future with grovyle on a mission to stop dialga before he kinda stops time. He did this because tempral tower fell and became Primal Dialga. Then there was an accident and you got separated from grovyle, turned into a human, and got amnesia. Then you met a pokemon, helped them, and became partners. A lot of hours invested in this game later after some stuff including meeting dusknoir, thinking grovyle is a criminal for stealing time gears, being betrayed by dusknoir, and grovyle realizing you were his partner, you reach the final chapter. Dusknoir attacks you and grovyle pushes him to a time portal to send them both back to the future, Dusknoir reveals that by defeating Dialga, you and the pokemon of the future will cease to exist. Grovyle comfirms this, but you still accept, knowing your partner will be devastated. When Dialga is defeated you start to disappear. You reveal what is happening and then disappear regretting not telling them sooner. I cried during the credits

Metal Madness got me so hyped when I got to him.

You know you rock at video games when you can make quick time events amazing. Also, I love the way that the Protect the Earth part makes you feel like you are one of the people there mashing a button to save the earth. Wonderful 101 is just 1 of the reasons I hope the NX will be backwards compatible with Wii U titles. (Also, keeping Wifi for those games would be nice as well.)

I'd have to say my three favorites are Maglor (dat face doe) Primal Dialga, and Zanza. I guess, one could say the soundtrack in the battle against Zanza was... *Puts on shades* GODLIKE! YEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! ...No? Anyone?

Ok, imagine if Quint's fight in Mega Man II for the Gameboy was like Omega Zero, a fight against yourself. If they ever bring him back since his last canon appearance was in Mega Man & Bass: Challenger from the Future in the form of RockMan Shadow, who is a failed prototype of Quint. I can imagine a fight where he fight you in a manor similar to Omega Zero or Copy Robot from Mega Man 1, Quint would be a better and upgraded version of Mega Man, utilizing various Special Weapons from other games and perhaps taking the Mega Man X approach in being able to charge them up for more devasting variations of them. Maybe also give him RockMan Shadow's arm sword weapon and attacks from him.

Here's my top 5: 5: Gnasty Gnorc - Spyro 1. Yes, I'm aware that the fight in of itself wasn't too memorable or all that hard, but there were two things that made it great to me; the music, and the satisfaction of beating my first video game ever. 4: The Masked Man - Mother 3: Tragic is the one word that I would use to describe the battle. It brings the long, rather sad story to a head, and doesn't have that "I'm going to kill you" mood that most final bosses have, making it unique and even more interesting. Not to mention....... well, you know..... the ending....... Not giving spoilers.... oh, also, it's EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!! For me, at least, since I find that I'm not all to good at RPGs, but still like them strangely enough. 3: Hades - Kid Icarus Uprising: Ah, the final boss to one of my favorite games of all time. What can I say that hasn't been said about it? 2: The Plasm Wraith - Pikmin 3: INCREDIBLY HARD, the atmosphere just makes you want to beat the shit out of that thing and save your home planet already, the music really sets the mood of there being a true danger nearby; one that only you can defeat to save Olimar and Koppai. No other words needed. Honorable mentions: Tabuu, Ganondorf (From any Zelda game), Ridley (From any Metroid that he's the final boss of; you got lucky Other M. I'm not praising you in any way.) Palkia/Dialga, Yuga, Zanza, Malefor, and Dr. Wily from Mega man one. 1: Bowser - Super Mario Galaxy: Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking, "OMG, such a fucking cop-out." Well let me say to you right now, I don't care if it is or if it isn't. All I know is that the final boss to this masterpiece of a game brilliantly and efficiently combines a battle with platforming, strategy, and actually being epic, especially for a Mario game. The music of this fight is one of my favorites EVER from a game, the atmosphere has been built up by the surprisingly epic feel of the game's story, and just the way that things go after the fight was mindblowing to me, even when I was still young.

A couple of my favorite final bosses are The Doomsday Zone/Sky Sanctuary Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Sonic's Doomsday Zone, turning Super Sonic/Hyper Sonic to chase after Dr. Robotnik in his Egg Mech while flying through space, rushing through an asteroid field, having to keep your ring count up to prevent an instant death. That was one of the most tense, white knuckling final battles in my childhood. With Knuckles in Sky Sanctuary, having to fight Mecha Sonic twice, one with a super form, and only having 3 rings to keep yourself alive. Geez! Both stages were amazing and had a satisfying end to them. And that's not to mention the freaking theme music. The Doomsday track is one of my favorite Sonic BGMs in the franchise. It added to the tension of those final battles.

My personal favorite boss is from Sonic Forces and it’s the final boss because of how it plays out and how you fight it but also you can target the shield barrier in the second form. And the finishing blow is the finishing touch

Thanks, QG. When I heard of Xenoblade Chronicles from you, I looked more into the game, bought it for my birthday, and I LOVE IT! I especially like the overall atmosphere of Bionis' Leg. The only thing I could think of to make it better is online multiplayer, but the Wii's online is disabled now anyways...

I think I have an explanation to why Tails and Knuckles only get shields for their super forms in Sonic Heroes. Tails and Knuckles' super forms weren't from the Chaos Emeralds. They were from the Super Emeralds.

My favorite boss is Majora from majoras mask, love the events leading up to it, the tranquil inside of the moon, the 3 trials for your masks, and finally that drug-trippy room full of epic music!

Omega from megaman zero 3 was my first megaman final boss I ever faced...... and i was not disappointed.

I still think you should check out the final boss of Asura' sWrath. To wit, it starts with Asura becoming bigger then any planet in the solar system, and fighting a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann sized deity. It only gets crazier from there.

I haven't faced any of these final bosses on this list. Some of my favorite final bosses include Solaris (Sonic 06), Tabuu (Super Smash Bros Brawl), Malefor (The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon), The Evil Twins (Crash Twinsanity), & Malus (Shadow of the Colossus).

Everyone wants Shulk in Super Smash Bros. Gets in Smash Bros. as one of the worst characters in the game. Take that fanboys!

3:45 I have a theory. As you recall, Tails got his super form from the super emeralds rather than the less powerful chaos emeralds. As such, Tails requires much more energy for any type of transformation so energy is taken from Super Knuckles which results in them both having super shields.

True Demon Ending Lucifer from Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. You've fought your way through the absolutely brutal Labyrinth of Amala, torn apart the other Demonic Sponsors, and killed an avatar of God Himself. Now you're up against the literal devil, and unless you have a very specific setup, he's impossible to beat. And the best part? It's his final test to see if you're worthy to be his general. Yes. The insanely hard, epic battle against Lucifer is a SPARRING MATCH.

Great List but you have to look out for Asuras Wrath. The Final Battle in the DLC Chakradarvatin is as long as Jergingha and more epic than the fight against Zero. First you fight in the Space where he Throws Planets and Galaxy against you. Later it goe's even further you fight him in the Void. It's an battle of Creator vs Destructor. All against nothing. MINDBLOWN! (and the funny part is that you are the destructor)

Nyx from Persona 3 has to be one of my favorite Final Bosses. It's tough, but not impossible. It has a major buildup and brings a great ending with it. Perhaps it's not totally up there with these fights, but It'd be on my list, mostly cause I haven't played a lot of these games XD Anyway, nice list QG! Your slightly obscure references are always a joy, especially when I know full well what they're about!

I recently played the new game Freedom Planet, and my god the final boss against Lord Brevon in it has to be one of the best I've played in a long time. Yeah, it's an indie game that I haven't seen a lot of people talk about, but it's an amazing battle with a buildup lasting a insane 4-part stage (The first three parts including hard endbosses of the game's other antagonists) with the final battle itself consisting of 3 bone-crushingly hard forms, awesome music, and that feeling of satisfaction when you finally land that final hit on the final form after so many deaths. I feel like this boss deserves a spot on a list somewhere, because this boss is up there with great final bosses such as the Undead Core from Cave Story.

My favorite final boss is hands down the Transcendental Being/Anarchic Entity from Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria (PS2). Music, atmosphere (especially with the accompanying cutscenes) and difficulty made this a fight to remember.

Best final boss imo is... (SPOILERS FOR MOTHER 3) The Masked Man (Claus). You think Porky would be the final boss, right? Wrong. Venturing further into the caves leads you to the Masked Man, and the final needle. Opening off, MM defeats Kumatora, Duster and Boney, but not Lucas, Lucas then has to defend himself from MM's barrage of attacks, all while Flint, and the spirit of Hinawa try to get Claus to come back to his senses, (by the way, the music, Battle against the Masked Man, is pretty cool.) Claus slowly regains his senses and the fight slows down, changing the music to a more sad feel, titled It is finished, signifying that the fight is almost over, and at the end, Claus becomes fully aware of his past actions and couldn't live with himself, firing a bolt of lightning at Lucas, only to have it be reflected back, and kills him, thus ending the fight... This battle is so memorable because it isn't the typical "I'll kill you" atmosphere that is used for so many other bosses.

That was a great list as usual, played a majority and I agree especially with #1 and everything you had to say about it.

Pretty good list, my personal, honest favourite final boss is Tabuu from Super Smash Bros Brawl. Despite how cheaply hard he was, I felt a real sense of accomplishment after I beat him. Not to mention the grand scale of the fight from the music to gameplay to his powerful attacks just... AGGHHH SO GOOD!

One of the best final boss fights that I can think of in recent years is definitely from an underrated game: Freedom Planet. So the main villain is named Lord Brevon. You see him kill three characters in the game with a single slash, and even poisons your friend with it and turns her into a boss fight, and tortures one of the protagonists by ELECTRIC SHOCKS. You finally face him in the end, and he's packing a first phase where he's in his ship, attempting to ram you and stomp you, a second phase where he enters his mech, when he gets to use the Screw Attack to bounce around the map and fire projectiles that leave fire on the ground, and a third phase after that, where his first move is his knife slash. Normal mode, takes out 4 HP when you have 8 HP. Hard mode, it takes out SEVEN HP. He moves incredibly fast, throws out mines, has a completely random pattern in hard mode, flies around the arena, and even throws you across the screen. A truly amazing fight.

I know this is old and I don't expect a response ( if this is worth one XD) but I've been playing a lot of games lately and my fav final boss has changed a lot. Currently though, my favorite is izanagi from Persona 4. The boss is challenging and fun,the music is amazing, and the way you finish her with myriad truths is one of my favorite ways to finish a boss ever. Just putting that out there.

My favourite (final) boss fight of all time is the final boss in The Last Story. I won't spoil it, but it is VERY emotional. My second favourite is the final boss from Rayman 3. It's a long and multi-phased battle that tests almost all your skills. I still haven't finished The Wonderful 101 yet, so I didn't watch that part in this video, but MAN am I excited for it :D

I love that you put Yami from Okami on this list. however, to be honest, the suspense leading up to the final fight and the scene just before the second phase is exactly why that fight should be number one, in my opinion. I love Okami and well..... I just love story telling in video games........ But I'm glad that Yami did at least make the top 10.

My favorite is from the most intricate game (in terms of combat system) ever. It uses two very different styles: A Final Fantasy-esque party rpg system and a 3d one-on-one beat up system. Seeing as the antagonist (FonyX) has finally decided to take you completely seriously and use his godly powers, you know you're in for a tough battle. Every time the same spell is cast twice, he'll cause the gradual increase of mana cost to go into overdrive. He also attacks ridiculously fast, can destroy equipped items (but thankfully not armor), destroys all your part's buffs/debuffs (which can help if you know what to do), and can really take punishment. After you finally kill him in that half, you go to just the main character in the 3d fight, who at this point is really using the mana for spells. So if you don't have a good physical build on him, you're most likely not even getting a good hit on him. Hardest boss battle I've ever beaten. I would give a link to the download website, but it was taken down due to not being able to pay for the server.

Quarter Guy, when you talked about Magalor, you forgot his attack to summon Sphere Doomers. Not to mention that his second form in regular mode does shoot arena-filling lasers just like his ex-mode, though in ex-mode they can be a little different in how the blasts occur.

Superman talking him down was the only thing that stopped him. Superman died so many times in the process, but still.

The thing is, Sonic and Shadow were linked by more than just "the real super power of team work." They were linked on a celestial level. Because of this, they were both able to be in super mode at the same time. It's like Pit and Pittoo. "Seriously, that is the last time I want to hear Pittoo!" Shut up. Anyway. They're, like Pit and Pitt- er, Dark Pit, two sides of the same coin. Because of this, they could both be in super mode while Tails and Knuckles could not. …Just so you know, that is simply a theory and not really how it works. I just like to think of it that way; it's not official.
