Flip Aquatics can you do a difference between genus for a amateur shrimper like myself? very limited in the shrimps i can get here in australia. looking as in fire red = neocaridina or taiwan bees = caridina etc etc
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Vivaan Ignacio Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I used some natural “landscaping” lava rocks for my ‘rock pile shrimp nursery’ (smaller pieces mixed into the substrate) & the shrimp seem to love the extra grip the lava rock provides, as well as the added benefit of the biological filtration-natural lava rock makes great biological filter media due to it’s highly porous nature. Also, super inexpensive! Thanks for the tips!
I have a question: I bought 15 Amano shrimp online. I read that they do not breed in captivity, but I noticed that after 3 weeks my tank have like 20 shrimp fry, extremely tiny. Is it possible that the Amano shrimp breed on my fresh water tank? Or did I receive another kind of shrimp?
Just started watching shrimpy videos. My two favorite shrimp guys so far. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Makes things so much easier on us newbies =)
I'd argue that rocks DO matter depending on the chemistry of your water source. I've had immense success by adding seriyu stone since I have soft water.
My 2 favorite RU-vidrs of the fishfam, thanks Rob. But I'm thinking this must have been a lost video in the archives. Last I knew Lucas has around 300 tanks now, almost 200 was quite awhile ago. It was still an awesome video!
Wow i really enjoyed that video! Both Rob and Lucas have such a positive vibe and are so genuinely stoked on shrimp keeping. Im just starting to get the hang of my shrimp tank and those tips are super helpful. thanks Rob and Lucas for the great video
Just started with some blue dreams and blue velvets in a 10 gallon couple days ago. some Anubis, javamoss, and some grew on a coconut. CANT WAIT TO SAVE AND ADD MORE DECOR🤟
There are so many reasons you should! At least if you like them haha, they're such interesting creatures and I love watching the newborn babies! Maybe you can take a look at LR Bretz RU-vid channel or Marks shrimp tanks is also very very good. Good luck!
I have a 29 gallon tank. I started with 30+ red cherry shrimp and 3 amano shrimp 9 months ago. Is it possible for an amano to fertilize red cherry eggs? I now have brown colored shrimp that have the cherry markings.
I've been keeping shrimp for a couple years now (though only successfully for about a year). For the first time ever I've got baby shrimp. I've had my females get pregnant, but until last week I'd never seen babies. Now I have a ton! I have several different colors of shrimp (blue, red, orange, orange and clear, clear, and one male black shrimp). Not sure if they are all from one female or several. The babies (so far) look to be dark grey (maybe blue?), orange, red, and clear. I've noticed that they seem to be growing very fast. Today I noticed a second batch of babies that are much smaller than the first batch. I'm not really trying to breed them (no plans to start selling them) and they share a tank with a betta and 3 loach. They seem to be holding their own, but I have a lot of plants, wood, and rocks. I have a few questions though; can the females be fertilized by more than one male? How often do they molt while growing? How long does it take for them to reach adult size? Thanks for your help!
I love the way he keeps it so simple and straightforward. I keep yellows with some White Cloud Mountain minnows. If they breed it’s fine, if not I just like to watch them. My water is on the hard side, heavily planted, with rocks and some driftwood.
Hi Rob, how are you? I was looking on RU-vid for your video with aquarium Co op that talks about genetic in you place but can't find it! I've seen it once but now that I'm more into shrimp I would like to watch it again. Thanks in advance
Hey! That video was on Aquarium Coops channel. I looked for it and it seems he may have removed the video. No sure though! He is in Peru so I can't message him to ask. Sorry :(
@@LupDiesel yeah that was my doubts if it was on yours on kot. No problem Rob thanks anyway. I will make a comment on his video and when he can he answer. Thanks for the help, keep doing the amazing job you are doing for this hobby! Thanks

ProTip: buy shrimp anywhere, float the bag in your tank 28 minutes precisely, dump them in, squirt safe chem in that tank, walk away. Boom, lively, healthy shrimp.
Great information Could you do a video on how to setup a shrimp tank for breeding? How often do you do water changes in breeding tank and what's the ratio of males to females for breeding colony?
