For those wondering, the surprise of the year went to a Jaguar XJ6 for being very pleasant despite being a "cheap" base model. You can watch the section if you look up another video of the 2003 awards, though that one doesn't have the final segment.
Even a year into the show, the three had more chemistry than the new top gear blokes will ever have. They should sack the two randoms and let chris harris do it solo.
James May wasn't even in the first series. Though James and Jeremy were both part of old Top Gear. Hammond and May on the other hand only just started working together in series 2.
Chris Harris is the only reason I watch top gear at this point. If he was still on RU-vid I’d watch him there. Flintoff and mcguinnis whilst good guys are not car guys and don’t belong on top gear. I agree. Give Chris the job solo and stop trying to make it what it was because it’ll never work.
@@jameswallace7091 freddie and paddy are there for the banter and comedy and you have Chris for the car stuff, thr new top gear is fully based on the banter more then the cars as that's what made top gear famous
I miss Matt LeBlanc. While he wasn't quite as good as these three, he didn't exactly have decent cohosts to work with, and he's both incredibly into cars and surprisingly into dry British wit despite being American.
Man .....from the lot I'm over surprised how well that Clio v6 has aged...still looks fresh and it would have been such a great investment, who could tell?!
@@user-bc6yz1jk6c but they are ugly are they not, German sports cars are overpriced in general, down here in Australia I can buy a 5 year old ford falcon xr8 with a supercharged 5.0 v8 and buy the factory backed holy grail for 470 kw and 730 nm torque and upgrades suspension and tires to handle that immense power for just under 90,000 aud, or buy an Fpv f6 310, another falcon with a turbo six which blows modern similarly priced bmws out of the water with mid range acceleration, 600 nm torque from 1950 rpm to 6000 rpm, German cars are overrated get over it, and because of the build quality in those cars engines (I must say the interiors are shit bit oh well) they last twice as long too
1:22 James accidentally starts playing an Austrian song (gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser) and not the Deutschlandlied. One of the most wholesome moments of Top Gear in my book
Oh the number of the audience during the show/series, compared to series 9 until 22 when people were racing to be in the audience even many people from other countries were in the audience as well.
For anyone wondering: at 8:43 the song is a Pixies cover of 'Cecilia Ann' originally written by The Surftones. It was the first track on Pixies 'Bossanova' album which was released in 1990.
i reckon i could count the amount of VX220s i've seen with one hand, however every other car show has the Noble M12. sometimes not necessarily on display but just so happens to be in a nearby car park.
to think that the cars they are talking about went out of production and slowly disspeared from the roads, but this is still wtchable 20 years later. Anyone has the first 6 seasons of top gear with the trio please contact me.
