I had a MASSIVE cassette collection back in the day that I unfortunately lost. This was always my favorite one. So hard to find the mighty wings instrumental, I just now am seeing this and see that it was uploaded over a decade ago. Thank you so much. I see all these comments and it warms me. The F-14 really brought us together in a big way. Sorry to all the other guys that wanted to fly Tomcats and watched them retire before they got a chance. This shit keeps it alive. If any kids who wanna rip jets see this comment- do yourself a favor and move to San Diego immediately. You will find that love and feeling there.

ok let me put this anouther way the Even older Hawker Hunter or F-4J Phantom could out proform the F-15 and IM NO KID DUDE BTW THE WAY IM 23 AND I KNOW MY STUFF AS I WORK WITH AIRCRAFT. for those who havent realized this... whoever first made the instrumental version of this just took it straight from the movie and just took out the words in the movie and the song.... so if you were to actually go watch top gun and play this at the same time you see mavericks jet break the sound barrier which is at 0:09 and it should fit perfectly with the dogfight against Jester

Its not. Its taken directly from the movie using the back channel, so that's the reason you get SFX and slight clippings of lyrics.

Lol I'm not gonna complain about the jet noise still being heard. I'm usually playing Ace Combat when I listen to this. The jet noise only compliments the action at hand.

Top Gun may have featured the F-14 but the F-15 is just as good an aircraft. With the Tomcat gone the Eagle literally is the only kickass 80's fighter left so cut some slack.

On some DVD and laser disc players you can isolate the surround sound channels and pull tracks off them. It sounds like thats where this is from. Maybe pulled from the rear channels where there wouldn't be any dialog.

@familyguyblows And it wasn't a hard drive failure, it was an evil landlady who locked me out of my own apartment when I was moving (when I still had three weeks until the end of the PAID month and had given proper notice), then took what she wanted of my stuff and threw the rest alongside the building out in the rain. :( And the legal system was no help, they even refused to give me any kind of paperwork to bring into small claims court.

The AIM-54 had unheard of Air to Air range but its actual BVR capability was questionable it had a knack for missing targets and it was to expensive to miss which is why the Armed forces never really pushed for its use.
