I feel the need, the need for speed - Join the Imperial Navy today! Includes clips from ANH, RoTJ, Rogue One, Andor, The Mandalorian, and Obi Wan Kenobi
I think it would help if they humanized the imperials. There were two types of imperials during the war. The imperial who genuinely believed in galactic peace and order and the imperial who was strictly loyal to Palpatine's dynasty. That's why there was an imperial Civil War, but knowing Disney, it's too much to expect a universe with 6 decades of acceptable source material to actually be used in a fully fleshed out compelling story in such a manner.
In 4 Bby, the Imperial Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. It's purpose was to teach the art of space combat, lost with the clones and ensure that the men and women who graduated were the best starfighter pilots of the galaxy. They succeeded. The Empire calls it Imperial Special Starfighter Academy. The pilos call it: TOP TIE
*Vader stands facing away from the group looking seemingly upward* Vader: Some of you may feel anguish or resentment that the best you can hope to achieve is being the second best pilot in the galaxy. That is good. Feed upon those emotions, they will provide you with the drive and focus you need to improve and survive through your next battle. This is the path of true power. Pilot: Who's is best pilot then? *Vader suddenly turns and intently glares at the pilot* Vader: A good pilot will instantly understand any situation he is placed within. So, tell me, pilot what do your instincts tell you the answer is? *table and chair begins vibrating beneath the pilot*
Not sure about that, they died to a meteor shower and a cargo freighter. They were scary to the small group on the ground with no anti-aircraft weapons, but didn't show much against targets in the air
@@thelieutenant7732 We're talking about the aesthetic that's a continuation from how rogue one represents fighter ships like the tie fighter. You don't need to 'disprove' the effectiveness of the ships.
@@yesyesyesyes1600 I mean, story was pretty meh for me. Versio looked like an interesting character, but pulled a completely uncharacteristic 180° and joined the rebels. The story failed to deliver on the promise of the devs: it didn't give us a proper imperial perspective.
@@achiltsompanos447 Yeah, I know. But maybe some brave ( and talented! ) fan will knock out a sweet animated short film, or something. There's lots of good ones out there. I for one would HAPPILY watch a lil 7 or 10 minute TIE fighter feature! Who agrees??
As someone who services these Tie fighters on an Imperial Star Destroyer, I am so proud to see my boys featured in this recruitment ad. Many of them don't live long enough to star in the next ad though....
What are you talking about? Only two rebel fighters survived the battle of Yavin IV, and they had shields and hyperdrives and on-board astromechs. While most of the short-range TIE fighters survived, even after the base had been destroyed. TIE fighters have skills. And a huge numerical advantage, but mostly skills. And a government that actually cares about them and brings them back home even from deep space.
What we need is a 181st story, Legends Baron Fel, the best pilot in the navy hunting pirates and rogues in the outter rim in the period between RotS and Empire. have a proper story about loyalty to the people a TIE pilot flies with, the fleet commanders and the citizens of the Rim
Going by legends, there were actually a few known Imperial TIE Aces. Han Solo was one a full Squadron Leader, right up until he disobeyed orders to kill a wookie who murdered the entire crew of a Imperial Slave Transport (First meeting with Chewbacca, he refused because his more or less mother figure growing up, was a wookie.) And Baron Soontir Fel, Top of his class in the Imerpial Naval Academy (he and Han basically set goals and standards in simulations within the Academy). A not-insignificant majority of Rebel Aces were Imperial trained, some jumped ship, still in the Academy, others left after graduation. (Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilies to name two.) The reason for this is quite simple, the TIE/LN Starfighter itself. If you are given an unshielded, glorified Swarmcraft that is if anything, fast and can more or less shoot straight, you either get really good as a pilot, or you get dead.
I'd actually love to see this as a small story point made by imperial intelligence in their recruitment department and their frustrations with losing well trained pilots to the rebels. And the necessity for more brainwashing because of it.
LONG LIVE the EMPIRE. The Rebels are called "Rebels" for a reason, they are the true enemy of safety and peace. Ever wonder why "The Force" needed to rebalancr the galaxy? With thousands of Jedi the FORCE brought in 2 Sith to rid of them...the Force needs balance, not a bunch of War mongering religous zealots mind controlling an entire population to their whim 😊😊😊
@@LewisB3217 What's more poetic? An army of skull-faced soldiers marching to their deaths...or an army of white armored troops with cross-shaped visors killing their mystic-religious commanders? Star Wars sure is fun.
I'd absolutely love a series from the perspective of an imperial TIE pilot protagonist who doesn't end up defecting to the rebels. Would make for great TV, imo.
Yeah, like the TIE Fighter game storyline. Where instead of your character defecting to the rebels, your commanding officer is defecting his entire force to the rebels; and as a member of the Order of the Emperor, you are loyal and must escape by taking out the rest of your squadron and then fleeing back to the rest of the Imperial Forces.
It actually shows you how much music and narration could change an entire movie. I did a piece in college where I made the shining trailer look like a love story with just music and some spoken narration, crazy stuff
First, respect for this Video. Second, a serious Movie about Tie Pilots, showing that the imperial Forces are not machines or maniacs. That the imperial Army got a human face and maybe that many believe that the Empire brings order to the Galaxy. Sounds great, but not as long Darth Kennedy lives.
3 things I'd love to see is a TV show or movie that was oriented towards a squadron of TIE-fighter pilots, a battalion of Stormtroopers, and the incredibly obscure and underrated galactic rebel alliance special force units like the rebel saboteurs and rebel troopers. There's interesting stories and concepts and compelling source material that Disney seems to overlook.
We need a live action Tie Fighter that is based on : - Tie Fighter PC game of the 90's - 181st Story - reference of EU books like x-wing and Rogue Squadron comics to look at the imperial side Characters: - Baron Fel -Mara Jade and other working in the Emperors hand -Iden Vessio -Grand Admiral Zarrin - ysanna Isard - Grand Admiral Thrawn - Captain pelleon - LeCoff - ensine nenda -Grand Admiral Rae Sloane - Natasi Daala - Ciena Ree: - captain/admiral peit - ADmiral Zarkoff _ Grand Moff takin
I think I can say this for all the true fans of SW, we need more stories where the Empire is at it's best. Legends and Canon are filled with those stories, elite stormtrooper squads, unmatched TIE pilots, spies and very good officers. Sure the 2 trilogies are a puzzle of major rebel's victories, but I crave for awsome empire stories... Long Live The Empire!
I would really prefer the Imperial forces to be portrayed in such a way on screen. We're always made to believe that the Rebels are so massively out classed, yet they ALWAYS effortlessly mow through hoards of Imperial cannon fodder. Making the bad guys fearsome makes the struggle of the protagonists that much more relatable and emotionally investing.
Right! Super cool. I hope he does another version of this, but with trucker movies like The Ice Road. "Thirty-plus years of service. Citations. You can't get a promotion. You refuse to retire. Why is that?"
Reframing the footage like this is all it took to get me excited. Disney really is in dire straights since they can't even do that with new footage shot specifically to do that exact thing.
brought a tear to my eye, coz my first space sim was TIE Fighter (not Xwing) and I grew up gunning pesky rebels down with my TIE Defender and Interceptor...
I wish they would make a show completely from the empire's prospective. You see their from childhood and the rest of their life all the way to the destruction of the deathstar and beyond. And not just one person but multiple families. From the lowly grunt to the officer.
The Death Star was built by a governor who was planning to usurp the empire. While the navy was busy maintaining interstellar trade. Its destruction restored peace to the galaxy. The Death Star II, on the other hand, was built with resources that could have benefitted the empire otherwise.
*Please* keep making these. This is so fun, and the Rogue Squadron trailer genuinely made me emotional, because the fighters are where I connect to Star Wars deep down.
If only Star Wars movies were non-woke entertaining adventures with a strong family dynamic storyline without the influence of the Kathleen Kennedy's of this world again. Top Gun: Maverick showed exactly how to do that. And audiences _loved_ it!
