This is so good! I'd given up trying to learn to crochet, though I'd always wanted a hat like this. You do such a wonderful job of showing exactly how it's done, that I'm going to get the hooks out and try it again, and I feel confident that I'll be able to finish the hat with your help Thank you so much!!!

I love this video finally a fantastic hat that is unisex and doesn't look awkward on a large head like a Bennie dose. Thanks

The circle part that you making for the top hat would also make good cup coasters I think also! Just a idea I had while you were discussing that. I love watching your tutorials. I really want to learn how to do this... I just need to buy the materials when I can scrape up the money.. Thanks for taking the time to teach this :)

This will make a great Dr. Seuss hat if you make it taller and do stripes of different colors! I think I might just do that and give them to my nieces and nephews cuz they want Dr Seuss hats!

Hey Claire. I was wondering if an H-hook was used instead of the G-hook would if help with the waving. I think because of the thickness of the yarn and the small size of the hook is what's causing the waving effect. Just a thought.

In my previous comment, looks like the comments formatting dropped the asterisks but did bold the type between where the asterisks should be placed.

@amwoodard777 BVlocking can be done in a number of ways..bethintx1 has a great video ... you can steam it , spray it with warm water and let it dry or use starch... but a fan said that the starch may make it turn yellow :(

Hello Susan, I am not sure but I would say at least 200 grams

Here is the instructions as written: Round 1: 1 SC into the same st as joining. (mark your 1st st) 1 SC into the next st, 2 SC into the next st, 1 SC into the next 2 sts. *2 SC into the next st, 1 SC into the next st* repeat from *to* to end I'm a nube to this, only my 3rd project. According to my reading, and I will drop the SC to make it clearer to me since all the stitches are single crochet. Round 1 is 1,1,2,1,1 then *2,1* to end. Shouldn't it be 1,1,2,1,1 then *2,1,1* to end? Adding the vernacular back in shouldn't it read: *2 SC into the next st, 1 SC into the next 2sts* repeat from *to* to end? In the instructions you set up an increase on every third stitch then changed to an increase on every other stitch. I would think you would carry forward the increase on every third stitch for the round.
@CrochetwithClare

Yes it should say into the next 2 stitches, i will have a look at the pattern :) Thank you
