I just visited Thailand and instantly fell in love with the place. The cost of living there is lower than in my country, the Philippines. I am very much interested in applying for any online English tutorial, as I have a good background in using the language. I am currently working as customer care specialist at IHG Hotels and Resorts Corp., and had some experience in English tutorials online. I just want to know how and where to start. I am currently watching a lot of videos about Thailand to acquaint myself of this country.

@@igotmoremotion Mate, That's all you'll be allowed to do. Thai Govt will not allow Non-Thai to do a job that a Thai is available for.

Hi Mike! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I was wondering if you can advise me on something. I'm reaching 40, have a bachelor's degree, and I'm a US citizen. I've been to Thailand years ago and did some border runs to stay longer so I'm familiar with the culture and environment to some extent. Simply put, I miss life out there. My question is how much time would I have to dedicate to start an online business that I can rely on instead of teaching English? Is it feasible to spend one full day on the weekend in-between lesson planning and grading students' to make the business a reality? Or would you recommend spending as much time as possible at home developing it and then moving abroad? I realize the latter approach makes more sense but quite honestly I'm tired of life here. I miss the food and excitement of Bangkok, and mind you I'm not even a party goer. I would greatly appreciate your input 🙏 Thank you

I was one of the lucky ones... worked and lived there for 9 years off and on... commercial diver on the rigs in the gulf... seems like a life time ago now.. these days I am just a tourist..

It's best to work with an agency to learn the ropes. Then, you can potentially set up your own operation if things go well.

Cheaper labor. Unfortunately the answer is as simple as that. Myanmar is part of ASEAN region so has slightly different rules than for westerners when it comes to working in Thailand. You'll find a lot of construction work and restaurant work done by Burmese here in Phuket.

I think its kinda stupid that the Thai goverment is so strict when it comes to farrangs working in Thailand . It can actually be verry benefitol for the Thais if they work together with foreigners who can teach them proper english and enrich there knoledge of the world in general . But on the other hand i also understand why its neccesary for the goverment to restrict forreign investment into there labor force . If a Thai person cant find a job because a farrang is doeing it thats creates alot of problems and they dont want that .
