In this video, I share the top modifications for the Latitude Outdoors Carbon SS climbing sticks. I'm feeling extremely dialed with my setup and I think that these will help you become an even more efficient mobile hunter. Regardless if you saddle hunt or hunt from a treestand, these mods will make the speed series sticks a thousand times better than they are out of the box. As always, if you have suggestions or ideas of how to do things better, let me know in the comments! My goal is always to be silent, quick, and efficient with all of my saddle hunting setups and with these adjustments, you'd be lucky to find a better climbing stick on the market. They are lightweight, made of carbon fiber, and super well designed. Latitude Outdoors knocked these SS sticks out of the park!

First off this video is 10/10. By far the best video for modifications for these sticks. All in one place. And the links, so thank you…. Second, could you give a quick tutorial on how you tied the bungee type cords for the steps and “strap” and the lengths cut?
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 7 месяцев назад
I really appreciate you saying that. I’ll maybe just post a short form vid addressing your questions. I’ll come back and link it whenever I get time to do it!
@scottrodgers782

If you don’t have time, maybe just the length of your shock cord cuts. And just normal knots ?

Some really good ideas here. I don't use the latitude sticks but most of these are applicable to any sticks out there. Keep the content rolling!

Thanks man! Ironically I found a few feet of 1/8" shock cord while going through my Dad's totes (he passed recently ) I thought "I'll keep this just in case." The next day I seen your video! I just got my system last week and I'm new to saddle hunting. Thanks again!

Those shock cords are a great idea! I have hawk helium minis and they have the cup things to hold them together and they don’t hold together well. That and the loops to hang them from your belt looks a lot simpler than what I currently do.
@NextStepOutdoors

I think I bought the roll of shock cord for $6. Have a tons of extra too for future projects. I like just having it in my gear box on my hunting trips too!

Good stuff, I converted a trophyline wingman platform into a one stick, but the stealth strips and aiders are a must. I found wrapping paracord around the outside edge of your platform addd a little cushion and eliminated boot noise. Good luck 👍🏼
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 10 месяцев назад
I've never tried one sticking but that sounds like a sweet setup for it. I've seen people do the paracord on the edge of their platform. I always was confused by that because I figured you'd have less grip. Have you experienced that at all?
@ryanowen1338
@ryanowen1338 10 месяцев назад
Not at all, even through wet and freezing conditions. My boots are pretty aggressive and it helps stop the rubbing/popping noise when I’m leaning side to side

I like the shock rope idea, but i use black bungee ball-chords, and i slip the looped bungee end through a loop on my saddle, ususally ill do like 3 or 4 dispersed through my saddle. That way, i can hook anything onto my saddle on my ascent, and then its just soooo easy to pull that ball end out from the loop and unfasten your stick. That said, im definitely making the shock rope mods to mine. Having a little finger rope is super handy

wow, really glad I came across this video. I currently have 3 latitude sticks and I want to get an additional stick. However, I have the Genesis 3D printing transport attachment that is meant for 3 sticks. It works great but I would have to buy another 3D print for it to work with 4 sticks. I will definitely try the shock cord method instead!
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 7 месяцев назад
Way cheaper and in my opinion, they stack/transport even better this way!

I love these ideas. I have the Tethrd Skeletors, and I HATE those stupid orange tabs they use. They’re so hard to separate from each other quietly when hooked on my saddle off to the side. Does the bungee you use to wrap around all of them ever get too slack when you get down to two sticks?
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 8 месяцев назад
When I get down to two sticks, I just wrap around them twice so it is tight still. Easy peasy.

For the little loops at the bottom of the stick, is there a reason you chose bungee over paracord? Just curious. I’m going to add the loops too.
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 7 месяцев назад
I like the stretch in the bungee over the static paracord for those loops. I feel like the lengths of the cord is able to fluctuate as I twist and turn climbing the tree that way. Both would probably work though.

I did almost same mods to mine. I just used glow in dark paint I had around instead on top of sticks. Also used para cord to attach sticks to saddle but like your idea better with the shock cord. I put a little grip tape on stand off to for some extra traction maybe. I still use the provided strap for transport but bought second one at hardware store to really cinch them tight. My only issue is the aiders. I tend to prefer a tubular webbing kind but the ear on end of step is a smidge to small and they work but have to make sure they haven’t moved while using. I only use one bottom two steps so not perfect and I may need to do something different going forward. I do use them climbing up so easy to check as I’m climbing and I repel down with my one stick line every time so not worried on way down. Also think amsteel clearly packs better. Luv the video and I concur with your opinion that these steps hit the mark so far!!!
