my mom is a court reporter and she hates all courtroom movies cause none are like real life. This is the only courtroom movie she likes just cause its so fun. great pick.
I love this scene! Thank you for sharing these reactions. Marisa Tomei was fabulous, the way she shut down the prosecutor and proceeded to help Vinny win the case. Just goes to show you, never judge a person by their appearance. When it comes to Mona Lisa Vito, I have only one thing to say to Vinny: marry her! Wishing you an excellent day!
"It would certainly explain the hostility." Love that line. Any chance we can get a compilation of the scene when Vinny first meets Stan in the prison? "A modicum of gratitude would not be out of line here."
Moral of the Story - never ack a witness/expert a question that [the lawyer] does not already know the answer to. This is why this film is shown in law schools.
This is one of my favorite movies ever! Joe, did a fantastic job here!! BUT!! ... Marisa Tomei stole the show! The accent was so spot on! This is one of those roles that NO ONE ELSE could have done this perfectly, except her! Not only is she gorgeous from head to toe, but this was so good, she deserved TWO oscars! FUN FACT: in various law schools around the country, this is the ONLY law comedy movie, that is actually used as a case study , because as funny as it is, believe it or not... it's VERY accurate on how it portrays the law! Look it up and see 😎 thanks for compiling the reactions.
I always liked how calm and clear the judge is here. "Can you answer the question?" "No.. It is a trick question." "WHY is it a trick question?" And then let's her clearly give her reasoning. 👍
Vinny already knew it was a mint green Pontiac tempest. When he went outside to talk to the sheriff, that's what was written on the paper to go see if anyone matching that vehicle description had been arrested. That's how he knew to ask the question in that manner for her to catch on as well. Vinny was the hero.
54 year-old male Italian from Jersey my high school, sweetheart‘s name was Marissa look just like Marissa Tomei .., watching your guys reactions to my cousin Vinny is extremely hilarious to me because I actually live like this. We love to argue.
She omitted the fact that the '63 Tempest equipped with a DeDion style transaxle also only had an anemic 4-banger for power. It was never offered with Posi traction, while the Buick Skylark actually was.
This is something that gets overlooked by the movie reactors. Cousin Vinny realizes that the tire marks could not have been made by the Skylark. This means he is also an general automotive expert expert!
I always figured it was part of their backstory; some Italian neighborhood mechanics shop, either their families knew each other and they bonded over it, or Vinny worked at her dad's shop. On one hand, he knows things through similar experience, on the other from his relationship with her and exposure to her family. I think the point is that he can't act as his own expert and explain all of this himself and expect them to just believe him, as the defense, particularly with the Judge being so suspicious of him. I got the feeling that he either was into it about her, or they literally worked together and he knows she could do this easily, perhaps knowing more than he does about it. Look at the way she got into _his_ job during the movie, it's definitely their dynamic. They work despite the constant bickering because they take active interest in each others' passions and endeavors. 😂
You have to be an absolute complete automobile expert to know that much information on every single vehicle manufactured in the US from such a span of time. I’ve worked on cars from that time period starting at the age of 6 up to today’s vehicles but I don’t know the timing on engines off the top of my head. I’ve done carburetor rebuilds, (a lost art) engine rebuilds on lower cam shafts, OHV, DOHV, timing belts/chains, fuel injected and I don’t know that much information.
he meant prosecution case EDIT I made a mistake I thought he messed up I saw this movie in the theater and had it on VHS TAPE & DVD I haven't watched it in 14 years
Nope. The defense’s case was originally that the cars were identical, then Vinny looks at the picture and realizes they weren’t. He had to bring her in to rebut his own case.
