Leaders of the eleven former soviet republics, now known as the Commonwealth of Independent States, met in Moscow to discuss trade. Vice President Alexander Rutskoi, an opponent of Russian President Boris Yeltsin, calls for a return to the borders of czarist Russia. Opponents of Boris Yeltsin gather and protest, some of the opponents are monarchists. The Russians are suffering from price increases and an identity crisis over the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Back in the United States, the US government is hiring three hundred broader control officers to work the border with Mexico at Arizona and California, a week after a wave of illegal aliens ran through the official border checkpoints. US officials say the border is “out of control,” with coyotes shipping Mexicans to the border and releasing them in waves.
In the 1992 Presidential Election, the New Hampshire primary will happen in ten days and reporters have descended on the state. Ronald Reagan is appearing by video in Manchester New Hampshire to endorse President Bush in the primary.
