5:25 Roll call is actually difficult because it's hard to keep track of which ones you've already counted; you can't just check them off with a marker or something. If they stood still, it'd be pretty easy to go up and down columns and rows, but when they move around, you start to wonder and forget if you counted some of them or not.

One of my least favorite Mario Party mini games ever is Flip the Chimp from Mario Party 8. Each player was a monkey climbing up a tree. There are coconuts falling from both sides and you have to shake your controller to flip the monkey the the other side. First one to reach the top wins. Only problem is it doesn't work. I have had that game for years now and I still can not get it to work. I'll shake it and it will either not work or it'll be so sensitive that when I move back my arm from flicking the remote it'll switch back to the other row. It was so frustrating that me and my friends agreed that if it ever came up to just put down the controller and not do anything. Also since the computers doesn't have to worry about crappy motion controllers they would always win.

Here's a fun fact; the N64 joystick was better than some may think. It caused burns and cuts, perhaps. But it's better than the alternative. I tried Mario Party on Emulation using a PS2 controller, figuring, "Oh, clearly a joystick with padded rubber will be better than a plastic joystick." Tell that to the hole I burned into my hand that was there for a week.

Well, one GOOD thing did happen to come out of The Beat Goes On... BAZA BAZA BAZA!!!

That's not just why Rudder Madness sucks. It sucks because if you bump into ANYTHING EVER you lose. Game over. You can't accelerate in this game, so you're behind the person placed in the spot where he/she will hit no rocks. And if you steer too much, you're still pretty much screwed.

I think Pipe Maze should have been somewhere on the list. Seriously, if you're not the one player, you're screwed in this game, as the only way you can even hope to gain any coins is if the one player somehow screws up and chooses the wrong pipe.

I actually have won Heat Stroke a couple of times on the 3-player side. Try to watch out for when they fake swing. You can use ground pound to counteract with it. But yeah, it is pretty tricky since you don't really know when they'll fake swing and can easily just eliminate if you time it wrong.

I was hoping for Crane Game from MP2. Holy shit, that game is ARSE. The lone player has an easy win, there's an additional 60 seconds at least the lone can add to the clock, and escaping for the three players is really finicky and not reliable.

TRG finally showed footage of Heat Stroke finally being beaten by the 3 player team. Hallelujah.

I love how all the players/bots in the heat stroke part are always sitting on the right of the platform when you actually get like half a second of reaction time when you stay on the left, making it easy to win as the 3 players.

Whaaaaaat? No flip the chimp? That one is IMPOSSIBLE to play

I must be the only person that NEVER got one of those N64 injuries...and I played Mario Party/Mario 64 (yes I did that there too) a hell of a lot and never got a blister or any sort of injury in the palm of my hand...

I love Rudder Madness. I was suprised you put it on here, and not fucking Flip the Chimp. I have yet to see someone win Flip the Chimp.

The only good thing about Rudder Madness is the number of jokes you can make hyping up a boring event.

I actually kind of like some of the luck based mini games as long as they're not duel or battle mini where a lot of coins are on the line. I don't know. I just find it exciting leaving your fate to chance, laughing the misfortune of other and being miserable at your own misfortune.

How I finished the entire mini-game island in Mario Party 1 is beyond me. The stupidest minigames I had to go through are being the conductor in that band mini-game, the too-fast-for-me-to-predict-where-the-chest-drop-in-pipe game, bumper balls, and of course, the rotating stick, especially the tug-of-war.

What about Card Smarts from Mario Party 9? Hey kids! Can you tell me which number is bigger: 5 or 4? If it took you more than three seconds to guess, than you will love Card Smarts!

My least favorite minigames are the "Everybody wins!" minigames with the exception of that one lightbulb minigame where you and the others ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING to get your victory! But with the "Everybody wins!" minigames (or the EW! Minigames as I like to call 'em!), you and the others just get coins and everybody does a pose... in other words, THEY'RE WAY TOO BORING!!!!

I so agree with your top pick! As much as I love the first Mario Party, THOSE DAMN MINI-GAMES! They hurt my hand like no other and I had to stop playing my N64 for a damn week!

OK, about Heat Stroke...I used to think it was cheap, and ok, it kinda is, but then I realized something: the fake swing doesn't bring the hammer ALL the way back! I think, if you are watching VERY carefully and only jump when the hammer goes as far back as it can, you can win.

Whenever The Beat Goes On shows up during a group Mario Party 3 playthrough, literally everybody groans in agony. It's just torturous.

My God I hate those "spin the fuck out of the control stick" minigames! I don't know how many times I ended up with blisters! Not to mention how many controllers I went through!

Only one good thing that has come from number 2: Baza Baza.

I don't know; I think that counting game might be a bit of a challenge for me. Not because I can't count, but because the game makes you count in within a time limit, which my autism just isn't compatable with, not to mention the fact that the characters you have to be counting are constantly moving around, which can can easily get you mixed up.

I had the best mario party DS round ever in Kamek's Library. On the last turn, I was 3 stars down on peach as the game awarded itself a star block the turn before. I used my last triple dice block (I had 3) and managed to land on a duel space by using the book warp thing. The roulette thing landed on 2 stars. 0_0 I WON

The Crane Game, The Beat Goes On, and the Boo skateboard game were all nightmares. The Beat Goes On is just an everlasting nightmare... The other two were always rigged against me. I don't know why, but they were.

A great month of videos Rabbid, would've liked your top 10 mario kart courses though.

I didn't even have to wear gloves for spinning a control-stick with my palm, because I didn't have any injuries before, though it did hurt when I had to quickly spin the stick on a Wii nunchuck controller when playing another game.

Forget Candlelight Flight: trying to teach my parents how to play Mario Medley (the swim meet one) one MP4 was my most nightmarish experience in all Mario Parties. I think MP10 finally did it right by giving the mini games consistent controls that anyone can catch on to.

I gotta say, this is pretty accurate. I actually really enjoyed the Heat Stroke game from Mario Party 5 but I'll concede that it's *heavily* weighted toward the single player. I've won that as the three player group very rarely, and probably usually against low level CPUS. Good job with Mario Month! Sad to see it's over, but I look forward to your next themed month in the future!

When it comes to MP5, nothing beats Vicious vending in terms of being terrible. Spin the control stick once, and then hope you get something. (And 9 times out of 10, you don't get shit.)

Got to love how half of the games appear in The Top 100.

I can't tell what's uglier: Donkey Kong in a Bowser suit, or early Bowser's design. Both would turn Medusa shattering into 8-bit sprites.

I have the solution to the rotating problem. Instead of using the palm of your hand, wedge the nob of the stick between your thumb and forefinger. Then you can still rotate quickly, and much more effectively without injury.

I don't really have one I hate but the Whomp boss, Big Bo-bomb boss and Chain Chomp boss from Mario Party 9. It's so funny watching your friends rage when they get hit or get eaten by chain chomps

Bowser Toss might be my nominee, but there are many ways you can approach this. There are broken mini games, unbalanced ones, luck based ones, boring ones, ones that are too short/long, and the control stick mini games. All with legit reasons to be on here. Bowser's Tug of War might be the only one I agreed with you exactly, but some of the other ones you said would make my bottom 10 for each game.

I'm looking back at this after Mario Party: Top 100's reveal, and half of the minigames on this list (Strawberry Shortfuse, Bumper Bubbles, Roll Call, Heat Stroke and The Beat Goes On) are coming back

I'll be honest, I barely played many of the mario party games. I think I played 1 and 2 and that was it, so I watched this out of curiosity to see what I've missed out on. Wow was I surprised and I can confirm the 'spin the analog' games were brutal on your palms!

With Mario Party: Top 100 out, Only Cointagous, Rudder Madness, and Candlelight Fight were not in it. Top 100 MY ASS!

What about Crane Game? You're not gonna win if you're one of the puppets, and you have to wait for that one player to slowly move the crane and pick everyone up.

I remember those joystick minigames from the first one. They hurt so much I would not even do them when they popped up.

Crane game. That one where opponents steal a THIRD of your coins RIGHT at the last turn, causing you to lose around 30 coins? The worst part is that your opponent gets them, and causes them to win. EVEN WITH HUNDREDS OF COINS, YOU WILL STILL LOSE! Did I mention that you need to button mash, so if you are against a computer, you are pretty much dead?

"I earned those five coins bro. Maybe I can spend them on the fUCKING SURGERY." Five coins? THAT'S ALL I GET FOR BREAKING MY HAND?

I actually quite enjoy the beat goes on. Its actually really tense because me and my friends are very nervous to not fuck it up, while we try to memorize the pattern and also praying the other fuck up at some point. Maybe is because me and my friends have bad memory, or probably because we are drunk as hell when we play mario party.

LOL Nintenditis. Imagine the reaction of the Angry Video Game Nerd to the hand blistering minigames.

Even 15 years later, seeing footage of the Tug-o-war mini-game brings back traumatic memories :P

My sister got Nintendinitis at one point thanks to the boat minigame, and I've beaten Heat Stroke many a time in my childhood. Stay right in front of the One Player, and always hold left when you jump.

I just knew"the beat goes on'' would be on here, I always won that one somehow so i liked it very much. :P Anyway thank you very much for this Mario month ive enjoyed your videos alot and youve convinced me to buy a Wii U soon with all those great mario games on it. And in my opinion it was a very refresing and good idea to do Mario month instead of Zelda month.

I totally agree about first place. But another thing that should be mentioned is that the N64 controllers were not among the most durable. The sticks didn't really need too much hard handling, before you noticed them going «slacky». And at toy stores, which promoted the console by letting you play it, the stick were often made unusable, leaving it resting on the side of the opening in the controller. And they go and put this mini game in Mario Party to just add to the problem? And by the way, If you don't have a perfect controller, you can forget about winning seven melons in some of the later jumping games in Yoshi's Story...
