Martin is reconsidering bringing the T32 J/P to the USA. Currently, you can't buy one here. This machine looks like a better choice than the T32 and it's less money.

Competition is great. Hopefully we will get more combo machines to jump into the US market. I agree about the L'invincible FS 7, but I am biased

Good morning 🌅, Great machine, I have separates, the model one below yours, My jointer is 420, which I believe is the same length as yours, I found it not long enough, so I’ve purchased for aluminium extruded rials, and on either side of the bed I drilled and tapped to insert captive bolts, It took me quite awhile to make sure that it was accurate, but I then slide the aluminium rails on either side, with a support leg connecting the two end together to the floor which I could adjust in height, and I set 24 mil/1inch plywood into the aluminium rails, the total length of the table was somewhere around 5 1/2 m, + , Classic E520 had the input reading, I believe I was one of the first in the uk , around 2007/8 , I am now retired and now living in France, and I still have most of my machines, and my Felder K7 spindle moulder/sawbench and tools , Mafell and Festool, Wadkin EKA 4/5 head tenner , Wadkin R8 wood lathe, from France.

Fantastic stuff indeed! I have the Aigner extension devices and the rails to attach to the J/P, the Shaper and the band saw. I still need to add the rails to the J/P ans the bandsaw.

That’s one handsome machine. I can’t imagine the Martin would be any better. Have you noticed any rust on the mirror table? Looks too nice to even use.

Obviously not true anymore. I purchased through Wurth Lewis and company in Southern California but Sam Blasco from SCM was able to get me info and pricing before that. I do believe that mine is the first in the US.

Great video, do you find the SCM quality is good?, looks fantastic. SCM do some excellent products, but you do have to pay a premium for them.

@pkwoodworking 10 месяцев назад
Colin, I find the quality to be exceptional for the L'invincible and excellent for SCM in general. THe L'invincible line is the top class SCM product, so you should expect better. I feel like the SCM L'invincible is actually a great value when you compare it to Martin and is a bit more than Felder Format 4 products.

I’m curious what feature this has that the Formal Dual 51 does not? The Dual can programmatically set the height for planing like the SCM. Not arguing on behalf of one or the other - just making sure I’m not missing something
@pkwoodworking
@pkwoodworking Год назад
This has a few features that the Dual 51 does not. - I prefer the fit and finish of the FS 7. - The FS 7 has a larger motor @ 15hp. The max for the Dual 51 is 13.5 hp - The air assisted table lift system (There was an electric option for the Dual 51, but I was told this was discontinued)Th - Planer table does not need to be lowered (beyond 25.0mm) to execute the switch over - The Dual 51 has to be lowered to 5" approximately. - The dust collection does not change during the switch ove, so less flexible ducting can be used in a permanent setup. - 5 second change over for the FS 7 vs. approximately a minute for the Dual 51 (could be a few seconds less depending on the height of the planer) - Heavier Machine @ 2350 pounds vs. 1980 pounds - 4" longer bed for the jointer - 520mm vs. 510mm planer width. - Available with a segmented infeed roller. - Quick change outfeed rollers The Dual 51 has some features that are NOT available on the FS 7 - The Dual 51 has fully adjustable speeds vs 4 speeds for the FS 7 - The Dual 51 has an option for a rubber infeed roller - The Dual 51 can be had with a SUVA guard from Felder, the SUVA guard is available for the FS 7 but not through SCM. - The Dual 51 has a bracket that can be ordered to use a power feeder with the jointer. This could be fabricated for the FS 7.

@@pkwoodworking Thank you sooo much for such a detailed response. Very fair description from both manufacturer's point of view. Last question - I am assuming you have a phase converter at your home shop. Which one do you have and what has your experience been?
@pkwoodworking
@pkwoodworking Год назад
I have a Phase Perfect PTE010R and it is amazing. It has been flawless! I will be upgrading soon to a larger Phase Perfect because I now have a 3ph Dust Collector and that adds to the 3ph load, I highly recommend Phase Perfect. I chose to mount it outside. This minimizes to noise inside the shop. It is not loud, just a bit buzzy.
@andrejrasevic6088
@andrejrasevic6088 Год назад
@@pkwoodworking thanks for the detailed response again! I’ve been looking into phase converters for some time now and phase perfect does seem to be the leader for this technology. I was looking into getting a 3 phase service set up at my home shop but it just doesn’t seem to make sense financially. On the other hand from what I’ve been reading it seems like the phase perfect actually produces a cleaner and more consistent signal than you would even get from the power company
@pkwoodworking
@pkwoodworking Год назад
I agree with the statement about 3ph from Phase Perfect. the tolerance from leg to leg in voltage swings is tight. Many people have no issues with 3ph from the power companies. Others have issues. I believe it comes down to how the power company gets you three phase as there seems to be several ways. I am not an expert on 3ph power, so consult SCM and Phase Perfect!

That's a beautiful machine! Do you know if they offer a second outfeed roller on these? That combined with the segmented infeed roller, digital thickness control and crazy quick change-over would absolutely destroy any competition...
@pkwoodworking
@pkwoodworking Год назад
I asked about the option of two outfeed rollers. Sadly although the brochure was not clear, we found that there was not an option for two outfeed rollers. Only for the S7 planer. So far there has not been an issue of pulling the wood through.
@newdutchworkshop7026
@newdutchworkshop7026 Год назад
@@pkwoodworking that's a shame. Still a beautiful machine though. I've currently got an older FS410 and I'm thinking about upgrading to a dual51 or FS7 half a year or so from now. Seems like the FS7 is way faster when it comes to the change-over. It's interesting to see that my current machine is actually very similar when it comes to the castings, parallelogram system and cutterblock/roller assembly despite being some 20 years old. I do have to lower the table to 100mm or more and pull the fence all the way forward for change-over. Like you, I'd love to have separate machines (Martin!) but I simply don't have the space
@pkwoodworking
@pkwoodworking Год назад
I know this may be controversial, but I think the Nova units are closer relatives, but the base of the FS 7 appears more substantial, and there is a significant weight difference.

Nico, I didn't intend to get that bandsaw. It just happened... But I always thought that a bigger shop would mean separates for me, but with a 5 second change over, I figure it takes 5 seconds to walk to another machine and turn it on.
