What O'Bryan's Soul Train's A Coming is to Soul Train, Paul Hardcastle's The Wizard is to TOTP, both were ICONIC themes 37 years ago, it's amazing these shows were on top of their games back then, in fact, I do remember 5-Star, Duran Duran and a-ha were performing on ST at the time, Once an 80's baby, always an Eighties baby ( I was 16 37 years ago, and left Michigan for California ). 2006 ended the fantastic runs of both shows. For ST, its longevity was 35 years, 1971-2006, while TOTP lasted for 42 years 1964-2006, a 7 year difference between the two, legendary shows, yes...gone, but never, EVER forgotten.
@@CarmelDeery-qc9lv Happy New Year...and good evening to you ( I think it's nighttime over there ). It's interesting that between the years 1983 to about, oh 20 years ago in 1994, things changed, like both opening themes were different, and Soul Train had celebrity hosts every week until Shemar Moore arrived and became Don Cornelius's successor. But long story short, from 1984-1993, with 1984-1991 the peak of the tenure, the BEST years for watching both TOTP & ST. And thanks for the reply, here's to me finding a pot of gold...and keeping it, and making it grow in 2024😄👋🇺🇸!...and well polished, don't like rust you know!
