I can still remember having the stereo on my shoulder and blasting out the recorded hits on the radio or the tape. I used to drink a can of shandy. . Pretending to be an adult and a load of kids following me for the tunes.
I think this was not long before peter powell left radio one in september 1988 for good from what i remember too. I guess he also left totp around the same time too.
I know he had been on r1 and I guess totp too since 1977. I think these days he became something else with music. He did not go to radio 2 or elsewhere but now maybe retired being older of course. Other r1 djs who did not go to r2 included mike read simon bates dlt Bruno brook's etc.
My estimate is that the chart is featured on air from Thursday 21st July? I recall Superfly Guy and The only way is up entering the charts during the same week and I think it was on the week beginning Sunday 17th July.
