i actually play-tested Story of Many at a local event and we had a blast. we did not go to the intro-adventure but we made a tour in the world map. A true sandbox experience.
Regarding Stretch Pay. It seems like there might be different options for how Stretch Pay works. Most companies choose to have the stretch pay end at the time the PM ends but Steamforged for their Street Masters' campaign had the Stretch Pay go beyond the closing of the PM so it is at least possible other companies could choose this as well.
After cancelling Street Fighter and Escape from Arkham pledges this year, I'm at this point where its getting real hard to get excited about campaigns anymore. To be fair, Street Fighter Was very upfront about everything changing and offered a full refrund. If its not Root related, Wonderlands War, or from CMON (still problematic), I'm just not very trusting anymore. Costs are huge, shear volume of games have skyrocketed. I feel like the industry needs to take a breather for a few months.
Looking forward to the prototype unboxing video of Story of Many . Can't wait till September 24th to back it. Any chance of a gameplay video before the launch of the campaign?
I feel so bad for the developer. Due to no fault of their own The Acolyte has forever burned into my brain a complete aversion to anything like The Story of Maaaaaanyyyyyyyyy. Argh it burns!
I know. In this case it might also be to justify the reintroduction of the extremely popular paint range. Perhaps there's a high ranking company executive who has doubts and needs convincing or maybe the company as a whole wanted to check for interest level first. Or it could just be a blatant preorder to help cover the initial production costs.
SFG is not going to do a huge campaign for something they need retail stores to buy into. There are other paint companies that do this, like Scale75, and they have a hard time getting traction in stores, so if you run out, good luck getting more of it locally.
