Michael Jackson was on another level, no one comes close, MJ changed the world music, ...he is greater than all of them... Michael Jackson still the king 👑, stop comparing him ,
@Robert Rees They are on the same level in the western countries like USA and European continent, but in the rest of the world like my African continent ,it is not everybody who knows Prince...but MJ has a big impact in Africa, Congo, cameroon...he started appearing on stage since childhood, he was already a star at the age of 11
HE was one of the most of the beautiful humans on earth destroyed by the media and inconceivable amount of media pressure to not be him self. that is just my oipnion
It says “top selling black music artist in each decade”. Drake is the top selling artist of the 2010s with over 260 million records sold vs Rihanna who has only sold about 250 million records (10,000,000 less than Drake)
Duke has a good promoters to always promote his music... This is what are young musicians lack promotion... They have all the tools around them but still lack promotion
African-american entertainers have been prominent and influential going all the way back to the days of minstrel shows and speakeasys, whether you know it or like it or not. They created the blues and were early pioneers in rock and roll. You wouldn't have Led Zeppelin or Lynyrd Skynard without them. If you can't tolerate that don't listen to them anymore. And don't use phrases like "what's up" or give people a high five.
How can you miss Louis Armstrong? Did you serious look into the history on Music? He is the main source for the delopment of music.....black and White.
What happened to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Jackie Wilson, ***Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix? You call this a comprehensive anthology of iconic black artists? Think again!!
Is Cardi B black? Didn’t she mention how black artists are getting black balled working with her - doesn’t that imply she doesn’t consider herself black
P.S. On my list of "I don't believe your list," is the omission of Whitney. My apologies. Due to my outrage, the numerous #1 artists escape me. And, I am white.
After this i realise in 19 people focus on talent and become famous and after that majority focus on body you know what iam saying and get views for that i really miss mj era ❤️
This video should be changed to African American musicians cause some of the ones you put were mixed so not black but are African American cause it’s a ethnicity
Mariah really!?? How about Whitney, seriously!??!! Who's list is this anyway? There are a lot more deserving artists today then your list of favorite!!! Come on!! So sad not to give at least a few nof those artists recognition!
I think the title for this should be Top Selling Black Artists in Every Decade. My definition of musician is someone who can create, write, and play music. As great as Michael Jackson was, and he was great. Legendary as a matter of fact, but he needed people to play and create the majority of the music he did. When you say musician, I think Prince, who wrote, created, produced and played his music. To me that's a musician IMHO.
Usually i'm against race being involved in every aspect, like affirmative action, education, hiring quotas ..etc. . but I think race actually plays a significant role in music. When a race is culturally centered with itself , it tends to create an environment that allows for very unique and quality styles of music to flourish. Being that there are many races and cultures worldwide, we have a large variety of styles that have been created by many different races. From European Classical, European folk Celtic, to African Traditional styles, African American Jazz, traditional Hispanic music (I know Hispanic isn't a race, but it's a centered and well identified culture) .. each giving us unique sounds we can all appreciate.
