Thanks Pall! I made an annotation saying not to jump on the moss. I didn't know it at the time but I do now, you can see some conversations about it in the comments below. Thanks for watching and for looking out for the moss and happy travels!
I studied abroad/traveled Italy for two months ran into this stranger that at the time was doing the same thing as you've done. Without him saying much I was able to see how life changing his experience was to him. And watching this episode/blog is very much the same. This is what life is all about. You girl are a bad ass! I envy your experiences.
Hey I just saw you from creator on the rise! Your videos are very cool and informative, very helpful. Also noticed you reply to lot of people's comments, which is pretty awesome you're so personal with your subscribers!
Zach Martin hey Zach, thanks so much! One of my favorite parts about RU-vid is interacting and helping people out :) welcome to my channel and happy travels!
I think you nailed it. I was just in Iceland and your point about seeing the end of your vacation and focusing on that versus focusing on the time you have. I will definitely be back in April/May. Much more photo and drone stuff to do :) Cheers!
It's so beautiful there! So glad you had a great time :) Mountain biking in the summer there would be SO epic - especially with the super long days of sunshine then. Thanks for watching and happy travels!
Hi Lindsay, You did it!!! I found you a few day ago and literally watching almost all of the series and really enjoy it. I wish someday I dare to do like you. I just start planing for my first solo trip to out of country so nervous and so excited.
Sad that this series is over but excited to see what you do next! BTW I am a friend of Jason Ikeler, he told me about your channel since I am just starting a travel RU-vid channel too! Keep up the great work. ♥
Hey Jamie, thanks so much! Any friend of Jason is a friend of mine :) I will have to check your channel out too - thanks for watching and saying hi!! :)
I have watched all your videos can't wait to take my own adventure can't wait for your new travel how long until u leave again keep the videos coming :)
omg this video was awesome. I'm currently saving up to go on a backpacking trip to Scandinavia. this is the first video I've seen of your channel and I can't wait to watch all the videos...!!!!
Ah, so excited for you and your backpacking trip and thanks so much checking out my channel! I have a video on Sweden if that helps you plan for your trip at all. Happy Travels!
absolutely amazing adventures. Thank you for making these videos they are truly inspiring people to get out of their comfort zone and travel the world. I've loved following your journey. Probably better than any series I've ever seen. Thank You !!!!!!
I remember when I returned home to Australia from 2 years of travelling... kinda felt like I'd "busted out of the game" That was 13 years ago now and I've only JUST started travelling again... Life just has a habit of getting in the way I guess (if you let it) Thanks for another great video!
Ah, yeah... I totally know what you're saying. Travel has a way of bringing a perspective that being at home tends to muddy, I feel like. Glad you're back at it again ;) and happy travels!
So exciting, Iceland is where I begin my world adventure. Been working so hard for a year so I can build a digital business... I feel like I could get another home in Iceland. It never gets too cold and never too hot and the nature woohoo!!!! So exciting for you, and in sure mixed feelings for arriving home. I've enjoyed watching your adventure and it inspired me to build this business. I'm 3 months away so I've gotta say thanks because the inspiration kept me through. So, what now?? Will you build a home, or perhaps build a business or freelance for freedom?
Hey Lindsey, I have binge watched all your videos and your travel experiences seem amazing!! I have such a deep desire to travel but currently being a sixteen year old in Ireland, I'm fairly limited.. Next year I plan to study in the Netherlands and I cannot wait! I'll be there for four years !! You are such an inspiration to me and I cannot wait to go to loads of areas that I never thought of before because of you! Thank you so much and I can't wait to see what's yet to come!! Love from Ireland!x
Hi Mary, thank you so much for the kind message and I'm so excited for you! The Netherlands are beautiful and good for you to get out of your comfort zone to travel while you're so young. You are inspiring! I remember wanting to travel when I was still in school too and I did just what you did - I studied abroad and went on a Student Ambassador program to Australia from the US. It's not really easy to travel while your as young as you are but there is always a way and sounds like you found it. :) You can look into other study abroad and scholarship options once you're in college / university and then travel during summer vacation as well. Thanks so much for watching my channel and hope you have the best time, happy travels!
I'm 11 years old and when I grow up I really want to travel around the world! This series has really inspired me! Thanks a lot! P.S: I've always wanted to go to Iceland but my parents prefer warmer places, now you've uploaded this video, I'm even more irritated I can't go!! Thanks lol
Thanks LaBananaZ! You have so much travel ahead of you :) Hope you enjoy the warm places for now and then get to go to all of the cold places as soon as you're old enough. So much to see! Happy travels!
Your videos are so well put together, I really admire that. I decided to leave my career path (teaching) a little over a month ago after reaching my savings goal. I'm in the planning/ waiting-to-go phase of my first solo trip on a one way ticket to Paris. My biggest worry is running out of money. I saved $25k and I'm a budget traveler (hostels, free activities, etc.) was this something you worried about when you left?
Hi Linsay, thanks so much and how exciting! You will have the best time! I wasn't worried about running out of money but the trick is to travel cheap places. If you're starting in Paris (lovely city!) that's great but if you're concerned about your money lasting a long time I would get out of Europe and over to Asia sooner rather than later. There are inexpensive places in Europe but SE Asia is still cheaper and very accessible. I only had $12K and it lasted me an entire year so with $25K, you will have a lot of time if you travel around SE Asia, India and/or Nepal :)
The only way to do it in Iceland with 30 $ is to sleep in a tent outside the camping areas or couchsurfing , hitchhiking and buying food from supermarket ( wich is expensive enough ). The cheapest thing in Iceland is WOW airlines wich is very cheap !!!
WAIT. LINDS. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F. IT'S OVER. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NEXT WEEK. YOU'RE KILLING ME. OMFG. Although stoked you picked up all your SHITE!! ;-P
Hey Lindsay, how are you? Quick question for you... I'm heading back overseas in March and my first stop is going to be in Iceland. That Volcano you went into, where was that? That definitely looks like something I would like to do =) Anyways, thanks for sharing your video. Take Care
Hey John, thanks so much! It is Inside the Volcano. It's a bit of a splurge but really, really cool. Here's the link to their site insidethevolcano.com/
Hey Lindsay, thanks for the reply. It look like a lot of fun but you're right, it is a bit pricy. Don't think I'll be able to do this on this trip but thanks for sending me the link, I appreciate it. Happy travels =) Take Care
I stayed in Seattle for 4 months with my partner (he has a job there) and started missing home (Canada), so when I came home I also had this feeling is stillness. It was quite surreal. In Seattle we were partying and drinking every other night but now that I'm home, I feel at peace inside - like I found myself. I imagine the feeling is more with you since you traveled longer and more places but I kinda get what you mean.
Hey! I am going to travel solo too, did you find someone to share the rent of the car with you at the hostel? Was an old friend? Iceland is a bit expensive for solo travelers. I never done it before and tips you could give would be welcome! Great work btw
Hi Rony! Thanks for the kind words. Iceland is SUPER expensive for solo travelers. I was actually set up with people to rent the car with - out of all the countries I went to Iceland, Tunisia and Alaska (not a country but a far away land) ;) I had help via tourist boards or private companies because I was making videos for them. I would recommend getting out of the city as fast as possible if you're on a budget and staying at cheap AirB&B's out side of the city. If you're planning a long term trip, I would spend a very short time in Europe, Iceland, etc and get over to South East Asia and India ASAP to keep your costs down (that's how I kept my trip at $12K for 12 months - it was an average of $30 a day but say, in India I was sometimes spending $5 a day and in Iceland I spent much more.)
Lindsay Mc for it! That was kinda my plan but I wanted sooooo bad tô spend like 2weeks road tripping iceland :/ I will try tô keep it real lol. Im currently watching sooo many of your vídeos! Greatest channel discovery ON youtube I had in a while! Congrats!
Was this your first time traveling alone because I'm guessing there's a massive culture shock going from LA to south east Asia , how did you cope with the language barrier and just the differences ? I ask because I am from Europe and want to travel to south east Asia but I've never been anywhere myself before . I am 18 years old
Hey Lewis, this wasn't my first time traveling alone but South East Asia is really easy for solo travelers and there is a lot that is set up for tourists. You'll find if you stick to the more travelled areas, most people speak enough english that there won't be much of a language barrier. If you want to watch my South East Asia videos (there's a playlist for them) you can see it's pretty easy to navigate and figure things out on your own. I loved traveling through South East Asia solo and I think you'll have a really good time!
How was your stay in Iceland have you ever been to Melbourne Australia I've never been to Iceland my question is what s it like for Christmas? From John
Just finished this series!! It was so amazing and interesting. I am hoping to backpack in Southeast Asia in a few years. What are the must sees if I'm planning to go for a month to two months??
Thanks Gabi! For a month, I'd do norther and southern Thailand and if you have two months, you can squeeze in Thailand, Cambodia and maybe a little bit of Vietnam :) Happy travels!
You have just become my new favourite travel blogger. I live your style and the mix of entertainment and information. Awesome storytelling! Just subscribed. Oh and we just returned from Iceland. Got to love that country!
It's short for storyteller and is an app mainly used by travellers. It's a mix between Instagram & Snapchat where you're able to show your adventures in a book with pictures, text & videos. steller.co/
You don't HAVE to book in advance but if you are on a limited time frame it might be a good idea because it gets booked out sometimes. If you don't book in advance though, you may need to be flex as they could be sold out the time you're trying to go. I went quite a few years ago (Iceland has gotten WAY more popular in the past few years) and it was no problem then. Hope this helps and happy travels!
Well I appreciate that, Mathieu - I don't shop at Walmart as I find their business practices unethical and immoral. I spend my money (our dollars are our votes) at other stores that more closely align with my beliefs :)
Love your videos! Your tips are amazing, thanks for taking your time to make them! I have a doubt 🤔.. What's your instagram account ? I wanna follow you there (: ... And never stop! Keep it up, you are an amazing person.. I'm sure you deserve the best and keeps in mind that every end is a new beginning.. Greetings my friend (:
I really hope you make a follow up video to show everyone how the hell you did this. Im 20 years old, lost as fuck, and dream of doing what you've done.
Hi Taylor, this video is how I started ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yfoGP9lQQik.html I am going to do a series about backpacking basics and those kinds of things as well so hopefully that will help as well!
Hey Taylor! I'm working on a Traveling Basics series right now - do you have any specific questions? My first video will be on money and how to spend and save and then I'm going to get into tips for packing and solo travel but let me know if you have any questions because I can totally talk about it in my next series. Thanks for watching and hope I can help :)
Lindsay Mc I'd be interested in seeing something about pre-travel? If that makes sense. Like how you saved the money for this trip while still paying rent, bills and having a social life. And DUH of course, I'll always watch you! I'm such a big supporter! Looking forward to all of these new videos you have no idea! 😍
This is a helpful vid! I actually just got back from Iceland and it was beautiful! Checkout my Iceland video to see all the gorgeous sceneries and locations that we went to!
retrogazele thanks! It's part of my series where I spent $12k in 12 months (so $30 a day) but some countries were more expensive than $30 and some were less... I have thought about changing the series name to reflect that but then if I change it to Travel the "World on 12k for 12 Months" that's misleading too because some months I spent way more than $1k and some I spent way less so I just stuck with $30 A Day as the average. Thanks for watching!
