Easy, the district already has parental guardians as emergency contacts. What else do they need? Turn your phone in at the door during classroom hours. Bin it, store it, forget about it. Every and all students will sign a form stating they MUST follow guidelines or they can not attend.. they don't need tiktok/insta or an easy wiki look up. The classroom is a cherished space for LEARNING & GROWTH having those devices present seriously hinders any sort of growth in their young, impressionable minds.. I'm blessed the iPhone was barely at its infancy when I graduated HS.. the internet is a totally different landscape of distraction & exploitation.
There should be SIMPLE PHONES. Phones just for emergency and allow those to be used before, during and around school. Access to call parents, 911, text, get notifications in case of an issue and thats it!. Smart phones are becoming more for leasure than to stay connected to real life issues.
