Here is how you fix the NFL... you have 2 preseason games, play 6 games, have a bye, play 6 games, have another bye, play 6 more games, that is 18 total NFL regular season games, and then come playoffs, the top 3 teams in each division are in.. example AFC south this year, Texans have the top spot, they get a bye while the Colts go play the Jags.. winner comes and plays the Texans.. and then you have a divisional champion.. and then reset, division champion plays division champion, 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3.. the winners play the conference championship.. winner to the super bowl.. and the one team in each division which did not make the playoffs.. are put into a LOTTERY.. no more tanking for the top player, because you are not guaranteed to get that top player and you are far better off fighting to get into the playoffs then to stay out of them.. 1 week after the super bowl.. you run the lottery and then everyone knows where they pick.. and for a team like the Panthers who gave up their #1 pick last year to the Bears, the Bears will get that pick in the lottery.. again 2 preseason games, 18 regular season games, 2 bye weeks, then playoffs, division rivals play the first wild card game.. which are always heated games being divisional rivals.. winner plays the divisional championship game, again divisional rival game.. Jags and the Colts, tough game, who knows who wins, winner if the Jags, play the Texans, another divisional rival tough game, who knows who wins, hard fought game.. all divisions have their divisional rivalries.. winning the regular season top spot gives you the bye while the middle two teams play.. its more inclusive, its more money for the teams and players, and with the Lottery, there is no more tanking for a top player because you are no longer guaranteed to get that top pick.. the NBA did that right.. they have a lottery.. bottom team in each division is in the lottery...
