I was sooo hungry before my surgery because it was scheduled for around noon, but I’m a baker, so I’ve usually eaten my breakfast And lunch by 9-10am. I made myself my favorite cookies beforehand though, so on the car ride home I got to eat some of those.

Ezra I'm a nurse and unfortunately the request to lose weight before top surgery isn't just about skill it is risk of terrible healing and even for people whom have lost weight and need plastic surgery for a body lift or a mommy make over the surgeon wants you to have a BMI below 31 because risk of the wound opening, decreased wound healing and infection is much higher with overweight and obese patients. So surgeons refuse until weight loss happens so that those patients will have better results and not risk have a bad outcome.
@kati141

There was some drama about that because apparently he did do top surgery on larger people before (and other people do) but just didn't do a good job. Seems more like damage control to rule those people out.
@isaac_rowan
@isaac_rowan 2 месяца назад
unfortunately hes not talking about people who would be in danger if they went under anaesthesia, not people who are medically obese. the surgeon says this to people who are within a normal bmi but on the higher end, whom he thinks the aesthetics of the results would be ruined because they are on the chubbier side

@isaac_rowan That is sad. I had an orthopedic surgeon refuse to fix a huge tear in my soft tissue of my knee because I am obese. Instead, he caused me Cushings from Prednisone. Surgeons like that karma will bite them in the arse.

Anyway two years later Im not as S as I once was but it doesnt just leave. I get my consult in June SO EXCITING💖✨ I personally have always been underweight but recently I've been maintaining the weight for my height and age which is great but my surgeon also recommends being under 30 BMI which I'm not sure why specifically but she says it helps with the recovery process. I do think more surgeons should be more inclusive to people who are overweight. A surgeon I was considering for a while, before landing with the one I have now, was Dr. Satterwhite and I think he does specialize with diverse weight gaps such as those who are also on the bigger side, which is so amazing!
@_dazai_soukoku
@_dazai_soukoku 2 месяца назад
It’s more dangerous for people with a higher bmi, more complications and risks are associated with it. A lot of surgeons will do it but it’s easier and better if you are a more “healthy” weight.

Not really acquainted with top surgery- but my grandpa had hip bone surgery, my aunt had a surgery for displaced disc. In both cases, they were told to be in a certain bmi range. And we also had a neighbour who's doctor advised against a surgery because of being too overweight. Not only recovery, your body can go into shock while in surgery. It's not to be inclusive- if people are too old or too heavy- they won't be eligible for *some* surgeries. Because doing that surgery would cause more damage. Again, I don't know about top surgery one. Just wanted to say that if possibles doctors would provide treatment regardless of weight or age. Sometimes the risk outweighs more than the benefits.

I'm already excited to get top surgery eventually, too! The thing that scares me most about it is waking up from anaesthesia and feeling sick or having to throw up because I'm emetophobic and get panic attacks from that. ^^" Also, I'm too anxious to contact surgeons and ask for TS. It's the main reason I keep putting it off. :T

Tbh, I’ve been questioning being trans (FTM). I feel like he/him pronouns just suit me better, and when I look at females it just doesn’t seem like me. When I look at a guy it seems much more like what I’m supposed to be. I’ve never acted ‘girly’, I don’t wear makeup, I don’t wear girly clothes (literally I wear a hoodie and sweatpants on the daily, helps with my (undiagnosed) dysphoria). Also, I’m trying out a new name and I really like it more than my actual name (but, then again, I’ve never liked my irl name bc it’s rlly common and boring IMO) Any advice to figure it out more? (Or names? I’ve been going by Aspen, and I kinda like it)

nope, must surgeons in the uk accept ppl who arent on t. some surgeons require u to go off t for like 6/4/2 (it varies) weeks before surgery because of blood clotting risks, but not all do. you dont have to stay on t after surgery and no surgeon will make you disclose your future plans with hrt. if u go off t, or arent on it in the first place it wont affect your results, they cant grow back as long as all the breast tissue is removed, the only way ur results will be affected by t is from how your pectoral muscles develop

@@Whyamiawakeat3am I'm a masculine woman who gets misgendered as male all the time. I understand what you're saying. I don't know why people still consent to buying into stereotypes, as that's the basis of being trans. It is difficult to be a manly woman or a feminine man in this society, for sure. We do get oppressed from a young age. The real non gender conforming people who take the bs and the disphoria that comes with it should be championed. Being trans is simply giving in and actually buying into the concepts of what is a 'man' or 'woman'. It's all based on external image and ones own courage to face the reality and integrate the selfs of them they hate.
@Whyamiawakeat3am
@Whyamiawakeat3am 2 месяца назад
@@averyintelligence I’m a closeted trans myself (FTM- he/they) so I can say that trans people aren’t just “Buying in to the stereotypes”. It’s all about how *you* are. Not about how people perceive you or your gender, that’s kinda what makes people trans. Being trans is *not* giving in to the societal norms of being cis. Plus, being trans is just an umbrella term for lots of different things. Bigender, pangender, nonbinary, demigender, etc. so saying that people are just “buying in to concepts” makes no sense.

it is a rather long time to be talking about one specific topic. the diagnostic team also get a lot of information before the appointment through like 7 different questionnaires, which are pages and pages long. they ask about pretty much all aspects of your medical history, mental health history, childhood and adulthood. its also really not that hard to diagnose but you arent a professional in that field and have no experince with anything trans related so idk why youre acting like you know better than people with degrees in this topic.

I’m not the only one who’s scared that they won’t be diagnosed as trans and they’re fake and what they’re feeling is just the product of trauma and suicidal thoughts, right?

@@2bpencil852 dunno if you read that wrong, but I’m just trying to find people who are also worried about this. I’m worried that I’m not trans even though I have pretty bad gender dysphoria.

Something that helped me a lot when I had doubts over whether I was really trans was the realization that cisgender people don't worry about not being "trans enough." I mean think about it: why would someone who isn't trans worry about whether they deserved to transition? It would be like someone who isn't an amputee worrying if they need a prosthetic. If you know you know. If you feel like you are any bit trans you are trans enough to transition. You don't even have to start with hormones. You can take smaller steps, like trying a different name or styling your hair or clothes differently. Some of the first gender euphoria tingles I got were when my hair reached my shoulders. See what feels good, and if doing more of it feels better that's probably a sign you're on the right track.

I used to be constantly scared of this but then I realized I was languishing over labels. The truth was that in the lived reality of my everyday life, taking the steps I had in my transition did improve my wellbeing. No matter what it could be called , in this case it’s called gender transition, what I did helped me. This thought process also helps me relax because I am stressed how there is no way to “really know” (ie. Blood test, brain scan, whatever) when in fact these behavioral and lifestyle patterns are the way you uncover that transitioning is right for you. Some people do transition and then detransition after realizing unaddressed trauma was guiding their desire to transition, and not gender dysphoria by itself. And that is okay. It’s always okay to change how you live to be more comfortable with yourself. I hope you do not let fear guide you but rather seek ways to help yourself and comfort yourself, no matter where they lead you or if they loop back around to somewhere you were before. And also I will add that many, many trans people have a fear of being “fake” or “not really being trans”. But the truth is that “being trans” doesn’t just mean one thing, and many trans who transition do still deal with issues of suicidal thoughts and living with trauma. It doesn’t make them less trans. Everyone has full lives with room for their whole selves, all parts. Peace and love to you ❤
