Tsardoms is kind of incredible even as of now which is not a final product. It runs great, its map is incredible, the units look amzing and the battles are very fun
@@GudeaTW i am not sure why there is this idea that Tsardoms is not final form. This is it. Future version will add Bohemia and adress yet not adressed bugs. But than that is it. Eventualy we may see another late campaign.
Divide and Conquer for Lord of the Rings - the detail and quality is just incredible (it expands on third age with a much larger map and something like 26 factions)
nooo I think it’s like 13. Without a doubt definitely not 26. I just downloaded third age divide and conquer 4.6. 5.0 will be coming out soon and it’s going to be incredible
tsardoms just head and toe impresses me, even these months after it's release. When it first came out, I was early to it and wondered why nobody was talking about it which gave me a lot of hope for other "under the radar" mods to try, sadly was disappointed finding any more close to tsardoms's level. I'd love to see another campaign playthrough on it.

You forgot to mention a great mod Warhammer beginning of the end times. Stunning units and custom cities, great depth and great implementation of wizards and flying units considering the limitations of M2.
Kind-of the same issue with that as the Sengoku mod. Multiple TW games set in the WH universe already exist, making that mod relevant only if you prefer M2TW’s mechanics to the newer games.
for me this mod is much better than the original game and it's totally worth mentioning even in 2022 in new updates are come out. the elder scrolls mod is also fantastic
BOET is better than Warhammer total war in lots of ways ... the engine is better in many ways and it has ALL the factions in one place ... ogre kingdoms was not even added until Warhammer 3.

Something I wanted to know in particular: A big part of Divide and Conquer, my favorite Medieval Two Total War mod, is the idea of slow conscription and scripts that greatly enhance hostile factions. For example, an auto expansion script kicks off at the start of the game that greatly enhances the abilities of your enemies, and compared to vanilla Medieval Two, even the fastest factions are at least 50% slower at recruiting new units.I very much want to get back into playing medieval two with a mod that greatly enhances the experience, but all too often, I find myself getting overwhelmed by too many units to recruit at once and being able to crush other factions with ease by simply rushing them. It’s just not fun without legitimate obstacles. Of the mods listed here, which ones specifically limit recruitment times and make it a challenge to take on other factions, preventing you from steamrolling like you can in Vanilla? I’m not talking about making the economy harder, I’m talking about making it legitimately harder to raise armies because you physically cannot recruit more until a certain limit of turns has passed, like in Divide and Conquer.
You definitely should try Tsardom because there are recruitment limits for each unit in each city, especially for heavy units. In addition, if you cross your borders the unit army upkeep is very expensive so you cant invade with more than one army. Otherwise, your economy will collapse.
Byg’s Grim Reality V submod for Stainless Steel makes recruiting much harder by introducing a manpower pool, beyond which units cannot be recruited. BGR IV takes a less extreme approach, by requiring a noble with the “Right to Knight” to remain in a settlement to recruit the strongest units. Be warned, these mods will also make you poor, particularly if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’d recommend reading the guide.
Thanks for this one Gudea. Really motivated me to get Medieval II with the intent of playing EB 2 for the first time. The difficulty of downloading it has always been a major deterrent especially since DEI and Ancient Empires are so easily accessible. However, with the review you gave it, I'm certain the overall experience is going to trump both of the previously mentioned games.
Glad the video was able to help! Yeah it might seem imposing to download and install mods for Medieval 2, but most of the time it's quite straightforward, like in the case of EB2 (in contrast, Ain Jalut is NOT easy to install haha). If you need any help, let me know. I wouldn't say EB2 will outright blow DeI out of the water, but it's an experience I personally prefer. DeI/Ancient Empires are also great mods that I will cover more soon.

I don't think it's fair to Divide and Conquer to categorize it as a submod for The Third Age. It's a completely different experience and the mod team officially stated that they no longer consider it a submod.

@@GudeaTW that’s such a shame. It seems almost every SS6.4 submod is doomed to be unstable. I’m unable to play battles in Titanium without a crash but can play “vanilla” SS6.4 no problem

But it might have a promising future it surprised me when it first came out i was excited I hope it doesn't disappoint me because my new laptop can't run shogun 2 campaing for some reason so I'm searching for a fix and stuck playing ran no jidai and sengoku for now.

You should check out the Imjin War mod for Medieval 2. It's a very interesting mod about a fascinating period (1592-1598) when Japan fought Korea and China in one of the biggest wars in that century that in many ways prompted the collapse of Ming China and it's conquest by the Manchus who established the Qing dinasty (A massive war in it's own right) The mod itself is really good with custom settlemets, architecture, units and good map.
Roar of Conquest are also one of the mods that is super stable, many features added and more rework of units. Smart and unpredictable AI for those who loves challenge. 99% reviews are 10/10. I would recommend it!

What version of Stainless Steel are you showcasing in the video? I see a lot more extra factions compared to my own copy of SS6.4. Is it some kind of submod?

Ran no Jidai would have been a great campaign if the devs could have remembered to make a path between Shinano and Echigo. A Sengoku game where Uesugi and Takeda can't reach eachother is no sengoku game at all lol. "I still have hope that one day a modder comes out of the shadows and try to finish [Chivalry II] Well it happened to the Hyrule Total war mod so I guess its possible.
I recommend the Potop total wor. In this year autor of this mod did a English version of mod(mod is originally in polish). And the mod is great(apart from a few problems with graphics and weird installation. It tools med 2 to peace of Westfalia.
Stainless steel is a really good mod but it could be better. Make smaller settlements for attention to detail purposes like ones for the map not for control like hamlets and villages etc I think every region in the game has good attention to detail in terms of cities and castles apart from the British isles. There’s not enough castles or cities in England, wales and Scotland and maybes Ireland. Hotseat is one of the best things as it allows you to play as multiple kingdoms. I think characters age is a big thing I think it should be 4-6 turns per year because your characters die after about 10 turns and there is certain periods that you like better then others so that’s another one maybes more starting points instead of just two maybes have a period in late early modern age etc. better use of appointments so have a roster for positions of power but make it realistic like lord high steward, chancellor etc give positions of aristocracy like make lords dukes, earls, Marquis and barons and give them titles. Maybes use what the game of thrones mod gives and make individual houses this will best suit the feudal system so you could have Alnwick as a town in northern England and have the Percy family ruling there an have the Percy colours for that house and then you could have Warwick in the midlands and have a house ruling that region with its own individual units etc but all loyal to the kingdom of England. There’s so much you could do with the mods paying attention to detail instead of focusing on the graphics and battles of three kingdoms etc why not concentrate on the older mods and expand them further I think most total war fans would appreciate that better

So I have played Stainless steel for years, but never got into any sub mods. I tried titanium today, but it looks like it removes late game units, like Pikemen and lancers. Is this how it is supposed to be? Is it just more high medieval specific?
Bulgaria is included in mods like Chivalry 2 (all eras I think, from dark to renaissance) and Tsardoms - much better representation of the Balkans in those mods than in Stainless Steel for sure...
You know what, I would pay $200 for vanilla Medieval 3 Total War if it came with feature rich gameplay, made with modern Dx12 era engine that can utilize >8 threads CPU and modern GPU capabilities, and if CA can open the game to be as modable as M2TW if not more.
Rome Remastered is super moddable at the moments and we're going to be seeing some excellent mods soon (including a medieval era mod I'm working on!), so a remaster of Medieval 2 should be quite moddable as well!
I will download the Beyond one. I'm fan of M2TW, but I'm also a little bored, because the current map is now small for me and so few factions to interact. I hope Beyond renews my interest in playing. Any additional advice about Beyond? Thanks.

I want to add Gothic Knights and other MTW2 units to Norway, but I can't unpack completely my MTW2 pack, and only I need the ui/units folder, it contains the unit texture and card for campaign and battle (if not, the unit is somewhat chrome o gray LOL. It only weights 17 MB. Is there any possibility in order to pass me a MEGA or Google Drive link to download that folder, please? none of those mods hold a candle to bellum crusis hands down the best mod for total war 2 after bellum i say stainless steel, europa barbarorum and broken cresent the rest i have own them all and they cant mess with the ones i mentioned. been playing this game since the begining when shogun came out in 2000 i have played every single game and important mod and i can assure you once you try bellum crusis you wont play any other mod for medieval total war 2 its that amazing.
Third age I got rid of it though afterwards, I don't think I installed it properly. I played as Spain after that trying to beat the campaign in a day but too nill. Now I'm playing Rome total war 2 for the 50th time haha what can I say! Like your vids man good work
Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to test it extensively yet, but it definitely deserved a mention. I will have a separate video about Lucium as soon as I test it some more.
Actually they are added in the Historical Units and Buildings submod. They are not in vanilla Stainless Steel. Try Chivalry 2, Broken Crescent, or Ain Jalut if you want to play as Armenia.
Can you please help, I've been trying to install medieval beyond, but whatever i do it doesn't work. here is the problem Went and downloaded on total war center Unzipped it Put it on the mod file in medieval 2 total war. The problem is it won't launch. For whatever reason the launcher in the mod is saved under my D drive, wheras my game is saved on the C drive. Launching the mod won't work it tells me the windows doesn't find D/ steam/steamapps/medieval 2 total war/mods/totalvanillab/totalvanillabeyond.bat. Trying to change the launcher location doesn't work, it won't let me I really don't know what to do, any help is welcomed. Thank you in advance
Are there any mods anybody can recommend for this game set in the 1600's or later? I much prefer the city and buildings set up in Rome and Medieval to the ones in Empire and Napoleon. I have played one: 'For King and Country' which is set in the English Civil War. Would be awesome if someone could make a new Napoleon or Empire Game using the Medieval 2 Map.
The main problem with mods in that time period is that guns in med 2 don't work like they do in empire so one of the main focuses of the mod would be very weak
In the medieval mod I'm developing for RR (Chivalry Remastered), I'm going to be rethinking the whole Papal States mechanic. Regarding Medieval 2 mods... I think the pope always hates you haha

I want to play a mod than give the English the armor spearmen like the unit that come after the levy spearmen. And I want the the sword and shield dismounted knights. And the French to have the dismounted French longbow men. And the English to have the the mounted longbowmen that the French have.
Stainless Steel invariably crashes on me at some point into the game, even with the patches that are supposed to fix that. It's a shame as I really like it.
