Hey brother. Is your shop on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn? And I'm curious as to what do you charge for a cut and beard. I'm in Allentown, Pa. They charge out here $25 for cut and beard.
Thanks for the quick response. Yea. So the cost of living is right now is almost as much as Philly out here, although I know that Brooklyn is probably higher. My background is that I manage a warehouse in Allentown for a company. I also have a landscaping company that I run(ca$h). Of course us men love the barbershop environment to chill n bullshit, but I've always had an interest in barbering (cutting my kids) and making bread; of course! I'd like to open my own, but if you've ever been to Atown or Bethlehem them jawns are everywhere. What advice would you give me? My bad if it was a hella long comment. Thanks in advance brother.
In Brooklyn, there are barbershops everywhere also. Sometimes multiple on the same block. However, Brooklyn is super populated, so there’s enough room for every barbershop. What I recommend for you is to get a professional barber education, hone your craft and skills as a barber. Check a few shops out, see what they’re lacking, and add that to your shop. Also make sure that you will be able to run the shop on your own. Because having barbers or good barbers isn’t guaranteed.
Seems like you had a busy day cutting fam. How much you make today 🤣🤣. So the shops are typical hood shops that the aesthetics are an afterthought, you know old paid old ish fixtures just need to be updated and improved upon. I have a few connections in the industry; my barber is Dominican and he was cutting in Washington Heights for 10 years or so. Was it your video that said NY barber schools are 4 months?
