Raven Beak: My plan is perfect... that genuine X footage will draw in Samus, and then I'll use these nigh-invincible sampling robots - and the last Thoha - to create a Metroid army! Not even my heart-kin can stop me from attaining this power! *later* Samus: IS THIS ALL THE POWER YOU IMAGINED?! HUH?! IS IT?! RB: I UNDERESTIMATED THIS!
I just hope that, after the sequel to Dread, Samus will finally be able to put her power suit up for retirement and HOPEFULLY settle down with someone that she married.
I fully agree with number one. Most Parasites in games are only a threat to humanity or organic life... but Lavos is a threat to the very world itself. Combine that with how it can manipulate others to do its bidding, warp time by its very existence, copy traits for any living creature from any point in history, and most frightening of all can break through the main characters plot armor. That power is nothing to scoff at. And that is just one of them, with the implication that if it wins its children will continue to infest the rest of the universe.
@@aliastheabnormal Not only that, but Dalton made *sure* to "kill" off both Crono and Marle before the events of CC, whether or not they're still alive after the Fall of Guardia in 1005.
Fun fact about cordycepts: it's been recently discovered they actually do not take over their host's brain. They are worse. Taking over limbs of host they make it move as they please. All while the host is still conscious and literally locked in its own body.
Huh, in a roundabout way Sephiroth is one too, he intended to inflict moral damage on the planet in order to claim it's energy for himself, in fact he was more or less after the planet's blood.
A countdown about parasites? That's an original idea that hasn't been done before. I swear you come up with the most one of a kind and unique countdowns. I really am glad I subscribed to you after all these years.
Number 0: Let them meet each other and see what happens. Okay, considering Lavos is a Magic-Parasyte that can devour Space-Time, it would be enough in Theory. I just wonder what Apocalypse of Apocalypses would spawn from that.
well, at least you decided to do this as a top ten rather than a top 10 scariest video game enemies, if you had then you, rebbidluigi and fawful's minion woulda put out the same top 10 on the same day lol
I don't know if you've worked out what to do for Weapons Month, but I have five countdown ideas if you're looking. - Knife Fighters - Beastmasters (You wanted something for Metal Gear's The Pain? Here you go) - Card Wielders - Jacks of all Trade, those with the ability to proficiently wield any weapon given to them, unlike Weapon Improvisers who also use things that aren't made to be weapons - Medics (Not really fighters, but essential to any battle) Hope this helps
As soon as I saw #1, I was SO happy that we don't have a gargantuan alien invader like Lavos sleeping deep within our planet only to wake up and destroy the entire world otherwise we'd ALL be dead!
When I clicked on this video I was honestly thinking "I'm willing to bet he looks over parasite eve. I'll just post it in the comments about it later" Only to have myself shout YES at number 6 * Maybe I shouldn't have thought that when the game itself is called PARASITE Eve
Great job! A lot of good entries for this list and a bit different from the usual lists we see for Halloween. Here's my suggestion for a countdown: Top Ten Video Game Curses.
Dracul hellsing to be fair, both Rabbidluigi and Fawful’s Minion went over them in their “Top 10 Scariest Enemies” countdowns, so I’m okay with not having them on this list
I know this may or may not count, but there’s also the Rosalia virus from Trauma team. I'm still able to sleep happy seeing GUILT from Trauma Center on this list.
In Prototype, the Blacklight Virus was just a virus, a subline of it just happened to gain sentience, dubbed the Mercer virus. The freaky powers are just different evolutions, like the viruses in Resident Evil. Still don't know how Heller is able to control it though.
You know Oscar, their is another potential candidate for your list. Gears of war’s own lambet/imolsion. In Sera, this gold yellow liquid is the prime clean fuel that surpasses the usage of oil. But what the humans don’t know, is that the fuel is actually a living parisite. But when us humans decide to dump imolsion waste into the hollows, home of the locust horde like a dumping ground. This eventually lead to a civil war between the horde and the lambet that lasted for years. And the lambet was winning, due to the fact the locust’s own cells had imolsion in it. But, that’s another story. Which was one of the reasons that queen myrrah decided to invade the surface when humanity was done with a war of their own. Fast forward to Gears of war 3. The lambet’s locust host can wield fire arms. But when the body takes to much damage, it will explode, so it can infect others potential host. What makes them scary, is that it mutates the body to kill and infect. I mean take the lambets ugly older brother. Not to mention, the stalks, polyps, wrechs, and the parisite made the berserk even scarier by being immune to the power of the hammer of dawn. Heck, it eventually managed to make hosts off of humans. Which if you listen to them closely, you can hear them screaming for your help in agonizing pain. YIKES!!! Well, at least Adam fenix managed to killed this liquid freak of nature for good. But the locust made an evolution change without them. So, I guess you can say that the imolsion acted as a crutch to the horde.
I feel the need to mention the beast from homeworld cataclysm. It is everything the flood is and cybernetic-ish, meaning a battle cruiser is an edible dinner table to it. And what you as a player face and manage to beat is likely only a tiny fraction that got caught on the windshield of an intergalactic travel. And if so much as a few cells escape destruction its coming back.
Lobotomy Corporation, every abnormality ever. Sure, Naked Nest or Queen Bee are obviously the ones setting up shop in your poor employees, but the fact is, every abnormality thrives on being able to hurt humans, producing more energy as a result. Which is why all the H&S regulations in the place are non-existent, and abnormalities can literally walk out the door if they feel inclined to.
That mythical creature you mentioned fun fact some myths say that they are created when the ghost of a starving child posses a woman so yah ghost parasite
For some reason Filia and Samson remind me of Huo Huo and Mr Tail from Honkai Star rail except my Tail isn’t a parasite he is a Heliobus but he does get Huo Huo in dangerous situations whether she wants to or not and it is usually not
I say the neurax worm from Plague Inc. and Plague Inc. Evolved was pretty unsettling, if a bit standard as far as fictional parasites go. Then again, I can't say that I know many parasites who've helped Santa spread joy when not taking over the world.
If I was picking a pokemon rep for parasites, I would've gone with Nihilego. I mean just look at what it did to Lusamine! Plus, it's literally called "The Parasite Pokemon."
Symbiosis has three seperate varients, and I vill name them, some examples, and two exceptions for the first varient. Get ready to learn the REAL meaning/groups of symbiosis: 1) Parasitism: the freeloader vins, the host loses (Sarcougheous scabii/Homo sapiens: The scabies mite gets a home, but the human is itching like nobody's business), but three exceptions are shown in Monsters Inside Me: Season 2, Episode 8 (Double Agents), and I vill giff two off them to you: a) Leech: Reduces congestion in the circulitory system vile the earthvorm's cousin is feeding b) Hookworms: Distracts the host's immune system from allergies 2) Mutualism: Both organisms benefit from the relationship (Greenland Shark/eye parasite: The greenland shark gets to eat squid and salmon, and the crustacean gets a home) 3) Commensilism: Vun benefits, the other isn't affected (barnacles/humpback vhale: the barnacles get a home, and the vhale tolerates the barnacles in general)
Hi, so first of all: HUGE HOLLOW KNIGHT SPOILERS! The radiance (the thing that made the infection), is very much alive and is essentially a god. It controls the infection, and is alive as of the the time the games starts. I'm not complaining though, the video was really good! I just saw hollow knight lore and wanted to help.
17:24 I know how good Second Opinion was, but I wish we could have talked about Trauma Team. I think the Rosalia virus is more terrifying than GUILT but when I re-examined the game I saw it's a virus not a parasite.
"If the idea of something living inside of you doesn't make your skin crawl, I dunno what will" You mean a fetus? Those live inside of other people. Whoops.
SPOILERS for Metroid Dread. I'm pretty sure the SR388 X Parasites are dead, but some were taken to ZDR and we somehow learn more about them when they possess Quiet Robe. And it's... strangely heartwarming. After Raven Beak is killed, Samus finds out she is too OP for her own good. Adam quickly learns that she cannot control her energy draining powers, which would drain the ship. But there is one thing that can control Metroids and their power: Quiet Robe. Knowing this, his mimic comes up to Samus... and bows. Then it turns into the parasite form and flies into Samus making her the humanoid version of Samus again... Sweet... merciful... Chozo... that was fucking awesome! This implies that Robe was so pure that either he managed to take control of the X Parasite itself, or the Parasite just inherited that kindness and helped her escape. It's like they aren't naturally evil, but adapt to the nature of their hosts.
14:40 That's, uh... That's not how mitochondria work my boi. Like, sure, the body hoping has a fair precident, but uh... This is an organelle that's somehow sapient. And, a reminder: Cells cannot decide to spontaneously combust. Why... Why would cells be able to spontaneously combust? How would that help them exactly?
Spoilers For Hollow Knight would Nyla (the little bug that sings in the crystal mines) count as being alive while slowly being taken over by the infection? Cus every once in a while you check up on her she still sings but her memory is fading, speech is slowing down etc.
lavos make me think about ymir the earth father of nordice myth, who conected to yama, and erlik-loki-lucifer-lidrec-aswang-shimurgh-aswang and lugh-ulgen. also souls eater (jinn-soul, spirit) and matter eater (yima/jam-body)
Fun Fact about the Flood, according to the book "Halo: The Flood" The individuals the flood infection forms take over are still aware of everything that happens with there now possessed body. Every person they kill, every wound they get, every horrific thing that happens to them, they still are aware of it. That is one of the reasons why the Flood is my favorite.
That, and apparently if they are able to develop into their Keymind state and possibly further along, the Flood can also start to infest reality itself and other dimensions. Also they might technically be the Precursors, an alien race that’s even MORE advanced than the Forerunners. Halo lore is fun! 😁
And Halo is full of religious reference, the flood may be a reference to the biblical flood that God used to wipe out humans, specifically sinful humans who squabbled and fought. Now, why does that sound familiar? Something with a reasoning capability decides to kill people who are fighting.
I'm more partial to the Chaos Kin from Kid Icarus: Uprising. While fighting against Viridi and her Forces of Nature, Pit takes the fight to the Lunar Sanctum, a moon-sized base that Palutena, understandably, would rather not have lying around. One problem, though: It's actually one giant prison for arguably the most dangerous creature in existence. Thanks to Viridi's subordinate/butler, Arlon, deciding he can't relay this probably important information without a direct order, the Sanctum is destroyed and the Chaos Kin escapes. Three years later (much to everyone's surprise), Pit wakes up from the world's strangest nap to find that Palutena has gone rogue. According to Viridi, the Chaos Kin has possessed her and is using her to attack humanity. Once Pit is able to break her free from it's control, it moves to Plan B: ripping Palutena's very soul from her body, which also turns her to stone. So Pit has to defeat the Chaos Kin before it can fully consume the Goddess of Light's soul, all while fighting its own constructs of past enemies (which I'm going to assume is a side-effect of having the soul [and likely related memories] in its possession). Maybe not a strict idea of a parasite, but certainly one of the most persistent and powerful.
What about Doc.X, the Ms. Marvel villain? I mean yeah he's a computer virus and a comic book character but he can somehow control people's minds and he started out by learning behavior from Ms. Marvel's fictional video game World of Battlecraft.
God, dread just made the X EVEN WORSE. Not only can they copy, they can IMPROVE. One of the first things you see once they show up is an x infecting a common enemy, and MORPHING IT SO IT HAS TRAITS OF A SEPARATE SPECIES ADDED. And the there's RB-X. *shudders* Of course, the ending and QR-X add a whole lot of questions about them.
that was already a thing in Fusion, I thought. Was even necessary to manipulate at one point for a collectable, killing two enemies and letting the X fuse into a stronger enemy you could freeze to act as a platform.
