The last manipulation was having Vader bring Luke to him in Ep 6. as Vader thought he was bringing Luke to kill him when he was actually wanted Luke to kill his father to take his place "by my side".....
What was even the point of that, though? Wouldn’t it just motivate Anakin to let go of anger and all the qualities of the dark side? Why not just say Obi-Wan killed her? These movies are such BS.
I remember seeing this movie in theaters on opening weekend; when it got to the part where the mask lowers onto Anakin's face, the entire theater went dead quiet. And I mean QUIET. NOBODY was making any noise at all. Then Vader took his first breath and I heard the guy sitting behind me mutter, "Hell, yeah."
I love that people always thought Vader was just a badass in a suit that made a awesome breathing noise, But in reality in this scene at least Darth Vader is a 23 Year old Quadruple Amputee, With 2nd/3rd and 4th degree burns both internally and externally who can only breath using a respirator and can only sustain his life with a mobile Life Support Machine and a Mystical Magical Power not available to regular humans in his universe.
These people reacting are all new to Star Wars, but imagine how powerful this scene was for people like me who had been fans from the very beginning. This was 28 years in the making!!!
You can see lord sidious smile fade a bit when he heard vader ask about padme. Telling him there's still a bit of anakin left. Telling him that he killed her out of anger just pretty much pushed down that last bit of anakin so vader could truly come out which is why he smiled at the end when vader destroyed everything in the lab. That's how I saw it anyway.

Unfortunately, some people take this scene as a joke, saying that it was out of character for vader to ask about padme and then yell nooooooooo after palpatine's deception, yet ironically, they never understood anakin's character in the first place. This is the birth of Darth Vader as we know him, wearing the biomechanical suit he wears for the rest of his life. The actual birth of Darth Vader was when Anakin Skywalker knelt down in front of Darth Sidious and pledged himself to the Dark Lord. After the Dark Side consumed him, Sidious gave him his new Sith name and then Darth Vader was born. He rose from his knees as Darth Vader. Sidious referred to him as Anakin before he knelt down and as Lord Vader after he got up. Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine never again referred to him as Anakin.
Hopefully these viewers understand now why Obi-Wan tells Luke that his father is more machine now than man. Machine legs and arms and a machine to help him breathe.

People keep saying that Palpatine lied to Vader about killing Padne, but I remember what Kenobi said to Luke in Empire Strikes Back: He can feel the Force but cannot properly control it. Vader had known the Light Side of the Force for over a decade, but in those first days of the Dark Side of the Force, he was still new to it. When he put Padme in that Force choke he had all that anger and power flow unchecked to the point she was still suffering even after he relinquished it. He did kill Padme.

Obi-Wan explained to Anakin that the Jedi weren't allowed to use the Force for selfish purposes. Anakin don’t trust Obi Wan Kenobi anymore. Because Anakin Did hate Obi Wan Kenobi so much. He blames obi wan for his mother death. Anakin Did betrayed his master Obi wan Kenobi. And his own Padawan Ahsoka Tano. And Anakin Skywalker did not trust the Jedi Council. I agree with WatchMojo, Palpatine is the most evil and sadistic villain in all of fiction personally. There are some who come close due to sheer brutality, vileness, and/or horror, like Legends Grievous, Sauron during the entire Legendarium, Ghetsis from Pokemon, General Shepherd and Makarov from MW2. The only ones that even come close for me are the book version of Euron Greyjoy just due to his absurdly disturbing vileness, and Darkseid because he just IS pure evil, and even then Palpatine is still worse. He butchered his entire family with his bare hands and the Force while they were trapped on a ship with him, he groomed a literal child with magic powers into a soldier and then made him murder virtually everyone he grew up with, he tore an entire Galaxy into pieces with a civil war so that he could become the unequivocal Emperor of it all afterwards, and he destroyed entire species, planets, and even star systems just to make a point. His crimes are so horrific and extensive that it's hard to comprehend. Every crime the Empire committed can be pinned on the Emperor enabling it all. The way he's described in books through the Force is fitting: he isn't just evil. Palpatine is a gaping, empty pit of nothing but the Dark Side, like a black hole that only destroys and grows larger in mass until it engulfs everything. Palpatine created the Dark Empire using his cloned bodies not just to reconquer the Galaxy using the sheer power of the Dark Side alone, but conquer all of Existence itself. Every Galaxy, every dimension like Hyperspace and Otherspace, every single piece of Reality and possibly even every timeline, down to the last atom, would bow to Palpatine if he had the power.

Just like Sidious controls his old apprentices like Darth Maul and Darth Tyranus. Darth Sidious himself was controlling by his Master Darth Plagueis. Darth Plagueis controls Darth Sidious as his master and Sith Apprentice. Plagueis controls Palpatine to kill his family. In Attack of the clones, In Anakin Skywalker. He made his first step to the dark side when he decided to go Tatoine to rescue his mother. Darth Plagueis was able to cheat death by manipulating midi-chlorians to create life and prolong or prevent death.

What people don't understand is that Palpatine is not lying. Besides the chokin hazard (which helped) he used Sith powers to use Padme's lifeforce to heal and ressurect Anakin into Darth Vader. That is why the robots do not understand why she died. It was not a manipulation. There is more to the Force than the movies, and people don't know that, that is the reason why Ashoka was weird to so many people, it involves Lore people are completely unaware of. When he speaks he killed her, he is just using it to make him continue to have anger, but he is not manipulating him. Remember Palpatine survives a nuclear core reaction fall. He is MUCH more powerful than people imagine.
No. Palpatine does not survive a nuclear reactor fall. The Emperor died on the 2nd Death Star, at the end of Return of the Jedi. George Lucas has confirmed this and his word is the only one that counts. I don’t give a damn what Disney / Kennedyfilm says or does. Until they start honoring the story and characters that George created, none of it is canon.
