@@vincentreim8962 AIM-54 is in a league of it's own, literally. Until missiles like the AIM-120 it's the only Fox 3 that exists, and only later variants of the 120 are comparable in range. Same goes for the R-77.
My biggest gripe with this plane (and the J) is the 30 less countermeasures and they fire up, which I found to do nothing other than guide the missile to the target. Both when I use it and when I launched R-60s of all missiles at Su-25's. Though this could be old news coz I haven't played the 4J since the change, the frog foots haven't even tried flaring and my MiG-23MLA just dies to sparrows or an IR missile I never saw
I'm a filthy wallet warrior who mains an F-5C, and I see the F-4S getting downtiered *constantly*. The bright side is that most of the F-4S pilots I see getting downtiered have no idea how to use their AIM-7s so it tends to be a much fairer fight for F-5Cs given how miserably bad their AIM-9s are. Hurts extra hard when I meet the one guy who actually knows how to use radar effectively though.
Hi, Joob. Recenlty got into WT and found your channel. Loving the content. I do have a question after seeing so many videos tho - how do you actually fly? I mean in terms of controls. In another video you said you fly mainly using the keyboard and what I assume is the free camera view? When I try to do that the plane feels like it's fighting me with every input and it's movements are very jittery. Could you please do a video on your flight settings/controls? I do not want to pick up bad habits straight from the start.
Fly with your mouse not your keyboard. Using the keyboard controls make you turn hard and at full angle, so use that for heavy manovuers, but when you're trying to get a precise shot, use the mouse.
Probably killed him with bombs. If someone is chasing you, low to the ground, and you drop bombs you can kill them with them. I managed it yesterday in a Tornado, so it’s definitely doable.

Any way you could make a basic tutorial for the phantoms, I recently got the F4E phantom II and I'm really struggling to get even one kill per game with it
If it's a downtier I usually climb to 5k meters and work my way down. The f4e in a full downtier is very good and especially at low fuel. In an uptier however I usually stick to the ground since most enemies will have superior radar and sarh missiles
Don't dogfight anything. U are really these just to bomb bases and launch missiles. grind for some bombs first and then just bomb bases until u get missiles.
these big maps saved RB flying, the jets make sense now, they have the room to be what they are. and you can actually use tactics, and the radar has a use. like..an actual use..whaaaaat :D
now the big question. $60 slow-ass jet dogfighter with 2 crappy IRs but great manouvrebility or $70 fast-ass missile bus with decent manouvrebility with 4 alright IRs and 4 great RGs?
F4J is almost identical in performance. And what you gain in agility thanks to wing slats, you lose in speed and drag by equipping gun pod to make use of that extra turn. Obviously pulling harder turns also don't do any favors to speed retention either. So as missile truck Phantom was meant to be, tech tree one is just as good, if suffers from awful stock experience.
this plane iis litteraly the only one i have trouble fighting against in my mig21smt, i never seem to be able to notch the radar or dodge those missiles
Must be the difference in skill but I only get top tier jets when I play my F-4S.... still get multiple enemies a round but can't imagine my numbers if I could get your lobbies.
F-5C because it'll have a better matchmaker and there's only 3 planes it can't grind. Once you get to the last 3, the F-5E from the tech tree should do pretty well.
I can't even get a kill with this thing. The radar loses lock on *Everyone* even in a head on, pulse dopplar doesn't work, it has next to no counter measures, what am i doing wrong
ML is better in almost every way I have both and enjoy the ML much more. The F4s just carries more decent missiles as compared to 2 good missiles on the ML
F-4S is more versatile, actually has reliable BVR capabilities. Overall MUCH better weapons / loadouts. The ML has better IR missiles than the F-4S, better manoeuvrability than the F-4S and better speed than the F-4S. All of this is very nice, but it doesn’t matter if the ML gets sniped by the F-4S from 10 km away. F-4S is a much better grinder. The ML is still good, but I’d take the F-4S over the ML anyday.
@@WalvisYTbut in practice doesn't work out that way as most people would just notch you very easy and then get close to you and then you're dead f4s is ok especially since you're only advantage is very easy to counter so I take the ML over the F4s any day as atleast it can some defend itself if the enemy gets you into a dogfight
@@WalvisYT i was assuming that the person asking was new to the game and the F4Ss radar has a MUCH steeper learning curve to it than the MLs does. plus with the new large teams I've been getting lots of dogfights where the MLs maneuverability was what won me a fight. lastly the R24Rs and the AIM7Fs are roughly the same when it comes to BVR combat the biggest difference in the 2 is the radar guiding them.
The F-4S sitting at 11.3 is a immense joke. With that many sparrows and HMD should sit at 11.7, but gaijin wants to make more money so that probably will never happen
@@slayer_king_0033 BR compression is a thing yes, but if you pay attention to the BRs of premiums, you will soon realize they should be just .3 higher. Su-11 is the best example for that, as well as the A-10's and Su-25's, now the F-4S as well. If gaijin did rework the BR system from the ground up and expand it to 15.0 or something, this problem would be less apparent. However, the BR is capped at 12.0 and probably won't expand in the near future, so gaijin introduced the new premiums at lower BR's to make them more likely to be bought. Very good marketing strategy, though horrible playing experience.
@@Pydron. im saying that the jets it faces at 11.3 is fine as most of its games are 12.0 anyways. i don't need a speal on how the brs are so compressed I know before I had the ML I had the mig21 r13-300 a mig21 at 9.7 with no flares and shit missiles. every game it faces a-10s and A6Es not every premium is overpowered some are very underpowered and not worth the GE or $$$. the f4s is fine where it is.
One of the most overpowered aircaft that isnt russian, the mother of all down tiers....dies to not only an attacker, not only aim9ls (which you should be immuen to cos you have flares) BUT A DAMN TORNADO XD
The f5c is useless unless you know what you're doing its not a great grinder in my opinion, using it as a bomber cripples your ability to gain speed and fight, it also has poor top speed. As a fighter its great but 9/10 you don't get to dog fight someone without getting third partied. The guns are horrible and you rarely one shot people. One plus though is the engine are pretty cold but when you're facing 11.3 every other game it doesn't really matter. Even the av8a although less fun has 2 good missiles which almost guarantees 2 kills a game. It always pains me seeing new players buy this plane especially for 60$.
The F5C has a better learning curve compared to the F-4 Phantom. I like the F5 since I like brawling. Usually, missiles don't hit me since I both notch and flare a lot But as usual, its the pilot not the plane. The thing that makes the success rates of these planes tank are the brainlets who buy top tier premiums with no experience. ffs grind to tier IV before even considering buying a premium
@@eyo8766 consider this; not everyone looking for advice on which premium to buy is better, for example someone like me, already have top tier in 5 tech trees, but i dont know which would be a more fun grind for say italian air, Ariete or F104S, but for the original comment i'd say get the F4S. guns wont get you far at 10.3
@@aeri1148 Weird... 10.3 BR is full of close ranged gun battles for me. It's not the missile thunder that everyone's talking about from time to time. There's many newbie premium buyers who don't know how to pilot a plane let alone a jet. I tend to exploit these mistakes with gun kills. I love gun kill*ng when all aspect missile users try to head on me with my finger on the countermeasure key. Im pretty sure ill be powercrept to all heck in the future, but ill continue to try to hold my own in my F5 until I get the F-8E or something
It’s sad that for 70 fucking dollars you don’t even get a top tier jet… the F-16 or Mig-29 all you get is a jet to help you grind to the F-16 🤦♂️ and let alone the thought of grinding to the F4 or F5 I mean shit I’m only on the start of rank 3 I have 2/6 rank 3 planes bought and I’m still two ranks away from the start of the jets 😢 which the F-16 is the only reason I downloaded warthunder this year for

you're sleeping on the tram for grinding top tier. 3 9ls, a gunpod, and 3k lbs of bombs has given me a near 2.0 kd. Averaging like 15k rp a game with premium
I genuinely cannot understand how you're getting all these kills and calling it point and click, I get shot from 30 miles away every match and end it with 0 kills

You actually get more rp and sl from the f4s than the f5c I’ve used the f5c as my primary grinder but I’m switching to this tomorrow when I get paid because it’s has substantially more capabilities and before anybody rides my ass about this I am in top tier I’ve been playing the f14 for maybe 5 months now I just like the idea of having something with a lower repair cost and higher earning potential and before anybody says just get the the mug-23ml I already have it and I’m half way through the Russian tech tree either way I’m also buying this for my buddy because he flies the a-10 out and I believe he needs to learn a fighter if he’s gonna play the f16 like he wants
neither are good lmao, if the f4j was 11.0, that would mean it is supposed to perform the same as an f4e. And 11.7 would mean it has to perform the same as a fucking tomcat 4th gen.
